Small little museum on how a working mill operates. Just a 5$ admission fee.

This was a very neat little part of Metamora. Metamora itself is kind of like stepping back in time. Very friendly people. We went during "Canal Days" via the Whitewater Valley Railway. It was a large fair that seemed to take over the town. Lots of outdoor vendors selling their wares. Good deals and good fair food.

A really cool old grist mill and museum that serves as a nice focal point for the town of Metamora. Would have liked to explore it further, but my 10 year old was itching to go "gem mining".

Wonderful place to spend an autumn Sunday. Beautiful area and great people. Got some of the best tea I've ever tasted in Metamora at of the earth. The rock shop with gem mine is absolutely top notch. Lovely people!

Awesome tasty and nutritious grits! Beautiful old Mill, same as I remember it from 35 years ago when I lived there!

I have visited this location for the last 35 years. As a school-aged child, I was so impressed. As a mature adult, not as much. It is still a great thing to see if you have never been. There is a charge to tour now, which is understandable. However, the entire town of Metamora is not user-friendly for wheelchairs, strollers and/or wagons. Recently, when visiting for Canal Days, I noticed a ramp at the mill. This is great but then there are stairs to cross the canal and more stairs on the other side. One major plus, we left a stroller and purse for nearly 20 minutes without knowing and it wasn’t touched! That is 5-star no matter what obstacles we endured with our grandchild’s wagon and stroller. FYI - lots of gravel makes stroller difficult to manage. Bring a wagon and a person to assist with stairs and uneven pavement.

Went to Leather shop to try and get my saddle bags for my Harley fixed. The straps were broke and one of the seam needed mending. His sewing guy was out of town.

This is a neat place to visit. It has quite a bit of history there. It's a little sad because quite a few of the shops have closed due to lack of business. But we enjoyed the ones that are still open. Smelly's had some delicious pulled pork and potato soup!

This is an active piece of the past! Grist mill was working while we were there. They were giving train rides up and back alongside the canal. As a bonus...the yearly Canal Days festival was in full swing. The line of traffic was long. We spent about 20 minutes in line. About a mile backup. It was well worth it! Venders everywhere with about anything imaginable! Many antiques were available as well as crafts and general flea market items. If you get the opportunity you should definitely make an effort to attend this place. Will be going back without the festival in operation as I want to explore more!
