Despite appeals from its congregation and the local Greenpoint/Williamsburg community, the Metro New York Synod is actively trying to sell a church that has provided a welcoming space for artists, musicians and the community for >130 years. The community has pleaded with the MNYS to please retain the space for the community or offer to give the space to the community, but the church is trying to cash in on the real estate development rush of Brooklyn/NYC. They are not engaging with their congregation in a humane manner and have refused to discuss with the community. Very disappointing to watch a church put profit over a community's needs for an inclusive and welcoming community space.
