San Carlos Hotel

We stayed here in late April. Location was very convenient to multiple subway stops and an easy walk to many attractions. Rate was more than fair compared to other hotels that we looked it. The Elite Queen Suite was plenty of space for us and our teenager. Front desk and lobby staff were courteous and helpful. We had an issue needing to extend our reservation by a night and Johanna was very helpful via email. Would gladly stay here again.

We had a booking issue with a third party hotel booking website. They wrongly cancelled our room at San Carlos even though we paid in full 2 months prior to our arrival and we didn't know until we arrived.

The staff at San Carlos, specifically Michael and Maria, helped us to resolve the issue and got a room sorted for us straight away at the same price that we originally booked for. They were so kind and friendly and we really appreciate their help as they turned a very stressful situation into a very easy one.

The rooms were huge, the kitchenette has everything you need for a short stay and the beds are extra comfortable. There's a hairdryer in the bathroom but reception had a better dryer so just request it. We also requested a kettle and were provided with one.

There is a gym and a bar/restaurant in the hotel. I noticed some reviews say there isn't but there absolutely is. They are located on upper floors.

The cleaning staff cleaned our room every day without fail and did a fabulous job even changing towels daily which isn't the norm in European hotels.

Will absolutely stay here again if we're ever back to Manhattan.

5/5 experience! Very reasonably priced for location and amenities. We loved our stay at the San Carlos Hotel. Rooms were large and clean and the beds were so comfy! From the moment we exited our cab, service from staff was also excellent. We will be back! :)

I did a lot of research and it paid off. This is a fantastic NYC hotel choice. I booked on a Black Friday sale, so my rate was phenomenal. We had an "Elite One Bedroom King" room and it was perfect for our family. A separate bedroom and living room with pull out couch. When I say the room is big, even by normal standards, let alone NYC standards, I mean VERY SPACIOUS. The beds were also super comfy. And zero street noise! Great water pressure and temp in the shower and we had zero elevator issues (which isn't generally the case with NYC hotels, they often involve long waits and slow elevators). Also, all the staff was very friendly and helpful. I let them know it was my daughters bday and they gave her a balloon and goody bag to celebrate at check-in. Location is great too! Easy 15-20 min walk to Times Square or Central Park. And I felt very safe in the neighborhood, and on our walks to and from. There isn't much in the way of amenities (ie, no restaurant/bar or room service, no gym, no pool, not much of a lobby area) but honestly who comes to NYC for any of that stuff? Not me. Don't hesitate, this is a great choice for your NYC hotel room!

This hotel was perfect for our family of 5. We had 2 junior suites. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is friendly and accommodating. It is located in a perfect location. You also have a New York restaurant across the street. It was a amazing experience.

We came to this hotel after a nightmare with another hotel. Nice, clean rooms with kitchenette standard in each room, excellent customer service from front desk staff and house keeping, and still not too far for my family to take 20 min walk to Times Square or hop in a taxi with low fare to go just about anywhere we wanted. The front desk staff even looked up restaurants for us and gave us late night suggestions for my pregnant cravings! Kind and caring staff and clean rooms with great location. Definitely recommend to stay here!

Safe quiet neighborhood. Check in and check out was fluid and easy. The bell hops took care of us right away to get our bags in and out efficiently. Service was 100%. Rooms are comfortable and large. Excellent place to stay.

We had a roll in shower room for my wheelchair user husband. It was very well appointed and roomy. Very quiet hotel, perfect after a long day pounding the streets and seeing New York's many sights.
The staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful and happy, they were a joy to talk to.
Absolutely perfect location, just 10 mins walk from the Rockerfeller Plaza.
Cannot recommend highly enough. We will be back!

For the price, location, and amenities, this place can’t be beat. Staff all very kind, and the hotel is just a block from three different subway lines, 3 blocks from Grand Central. Can’t say enough good things about this hotel.

Great location in Midtown East. 10 minutes by foot from the UN and quite central to visit NYC.

The room was well equipped and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

We stayed a week here. Everything was superb! The staff was responsive to any concerns we had. The suite was clean and comfortable. Cleanliness was always a priority. And the location was near to all the places we went. We highly recommend this hotel.

We loved our stay at San Carlos. We had a hard time finding somewhere that would sleep a family of 5, and I'm so thankful we found San Carlos. We got upgraded to a one bedroom and had plenty of room. The kitchenette was helpful, and it was very quiet on the 17th floor. Location was great too. My twin 10 yr olds slept fine on the couch bed, but I think it would be too narrow for two adults. We highly recommend staying there!

My family and I stayed here for a week and our room was cleaned every single day, what a pleasant surprise after so much walking and activities, to come back to our room with very comfortable beds, excellent air conditioning, clean and fresh. Every employee who we encountered here was polite, helpful, very pleasant. Everything in our room worked perfectly, shower, tv, air conditioning. Beds were surprisingly comfortable. I genuinely slept very well here, rooms were comfy and quiet. I never felt uneasy in this neighborhood and there are several great places to eat within a short walk, plus a restaurant in the hotel itself. I can't say enough good things about our stay here. Location was great, so close to everything we wanted to see and do. 10/10 would definitely stay here again.

Excellent customer service. Friendly, helpful, courteous. Rooms comfortable and roomy and were cleaned daily. When we asked for additional amenities, they quickly responded. Assistance with printing boarding passes was also provided quickly. Umbrellas were available at the exit of reception area for guests. We used them daily. We will definitely return to this hotel.

Clean, friendly, nice!

Only gripe is floors and walls a little thin and can hear a little neighbor noise, but tollerable. Location is amazing for food and other fun things to do.

Visiting from Los Angeles and my family and I booked here at The San Carlos Hotel, Friday through Monday. The Staff were very friendly, helpful and awesome! Room service is fantastic! Very clean hotel with modern amenities. Great gym, and close to many coffee shops and stores and restaurants.
Definitely, satisfying staying here at The San Carlos!

Location is great, restaurants and diner right across the hotel and around the corner. Subway 2 blocks away (three minute walk). Large rooms, could use an update but very clean, fresh towels every day.
The airco is a bit noisy so take earplugs with you in summertime. Walls between rooms not very thick; we listened to our neighbors having some quality time with each other…
Staff was very friendly and welcoming.

I’ve never written a review but I had to appreciate the simple things that Santos(concierge) did to make our stay more convenient. When we arrived early for our 3pm check in, without even asking for an early check in , he offered to provide us the room at 11:30 am because it was already ready to be occupied. After a long journey, this was a great start to our trip. There were numerous other instances where the hotel’s location and staff helped us a lot!
This is easily one of the best hotels for this price point in Manhattan!

One of the great places to stay in NYC. A somewhat hidden gem in one of the most convenient locations.
Room with high ceilings are my favs.
