I'm from Florida and I spent four days in New York, after having already booked the hotel my wife told me that the hotel was showing as permanently closed on maps, it scared us a little at first, even more so after reading some reviews saying that the hotel was canceling some reservations and others were talking about lack of hygiene in the room and even bedbugs. We decided to go anyways and I can say that I don't regret it, the location is good between Central Park and Times Square. The beds were comfortable and free of bedbugs. We asked for the extra bed linen and towels at reception, they even gave us a hairdryer. The service at reception was exceptional and the cleaning lady was super kind. If you are looking for an excellent hotel with meals and everything complete you will have to pay extra, but if you want to pay a good price for a good hotel I highly recommend it.

I was very nervous after reading some of the reviews for this hotel, but I stayed at the Blakely for a week and it was by far the best hotel experience I've had in NYC. The location can't be beat and the room was the most spacious I've ever had in the city. The bathroom had a wonderful large shower and there was a microwave and mini-fridge as well. Housekeeping did a room refresh every day with clean towels and beds made. I will absolutely be staying here again!

Like other reviewers we were also a little nervous ahead of our stay at the Blakely but aside from a few minor inconveniences (no coffee maker, no phone at the front desk) we absolutely loved our stay at the Blakely. We had a suite on the 13th floor. The room(s) were clean, and while the furniture was dated it was extremely comfortable. The A/C was arctic, though for the cold air to get to the living area you have to leave the connecting door open and turn the fan on. The rooms are HUGE and there are two closets. The staff is extremely friendly and responsive (we requested one extra towel set as there were only two and there were three of us in the room - they immediately sent up two extra sets and extra toiletries). You cannot beat the location and the street is quiet comparatively - we slept like babies. We would absolutely stay here again.

Before coming to the hotel, the reviews definitely had me a little uneasy. However upon arriving to the hotel, my room was ready EARLY and i was allowed to check in early. The room was great. Very spacious and the location is great. Its a few blocks south of central park and one train stop away from times square.the hotel was very quiet and they front desk staff were very accommodating i booked my stay direct through wyndham. I was very pleased with my time at the Blakely and i would definitely stay again.

When looking to stay in NYC on a budget, I always find it to be a bit nerve wracking sorting through reviews. I have a new home. Location is amazing. We were about 2 blocks from Radio City and Central Park, Times Square is under a half mile. The Lobby is a bit small as are the elevators as it's an old hotel but the rooms are absolutely everything. Large, clean, beautiful and comfy and the customer service is so good. I've been lucky enough to stay in NYC a few times and this is by far the nicest room I have stayed in. Everyone we met was so nice and went out of their way to help us with things. They even held a loaf of bread for me on top of my suitcase so it wouldn't get squished! It's the little things right? :) I will most definitely be back.

This is a really great choice for a vacation in New York.

1. Location: From the hotel, you can easily walk to Central Park (5 min), Times Square (10 min) or even the ESB (28 min). There are several metro stations down the street that take you to the WTC or Battery Park (20-25 min).
There is a multitude of restaurants and supermarkets nearby.

2. Price: We paid $900 for 4 nights (family of 4). While this may be a lot in some regions, it is actually a bargain for a 4*-hotel in Manhattan today.

3. Rooms: Furniture and carpets are a bit antiquated and worn but overall, the rooms and the beds are comfy. We had two rooms and there is even a fridge and a microwave. The bathroom is large and modern.

There was daily housekeeping. All the staff, including the front desk, were helpful.

When we left, they stored our luggage ($2) for the day.

Check-in is not before 3pm. We arrived at 2:30 and they did not make an exception. That felt a bit unflexible but apart from this, we had a great stay at the Blakeley.

We actually really liked it here.
Hotel isn’t new but it has its own charm. Rooms are big, bed is comfortable, and bathroom is beautiful. Everything was clean and also cleaned on a daily basis. We stayed in a newer and modern hotels during our trip to the States but actually liked Blakely the most. Location is literally amazing. Subway and buses are minutes away, Rockefeller center is 3 minutes by foot. Across the street is a perfect coffee shop for breakfast with affordable prices (for Manhattan) and very good food and also, there’s a Wagamama restaurant down the street which we really enjoyed.

After reading the reviews I was honestly terrified when checking in that we would have problems but that was not the case at all. I called a couple times prior to arrival and confirmed my reservation was set and ready to go!
The hotel itself is older and not super “fancy” but my husband and I loved it. It was in a perfect central location. Super quick walk to Central Park, Rockefeller Center & Times Square. HUGE rooms compared to what I’ve seen when researching other hotels. The main downside would be the small elevators and small stairs into the lobby (we didn’t mind but could be more difficult for those with disabilities). They don’t have many amenities, but honestly we weren’t at the hotel enough to even care about that. We came to NYC to explore and adventure not sit in a hotel lol. Definitely one of the cheapest/affordable hotels I found and it was exactly what we needed for our 4 day stay around Christmas! They also held our luggage ($2 a bag) for the entirety of the day when we checked out so we could explore more and catch our flight later on at night. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely stay here! Great location, within walkong distance from lots of amenities, times square and central park, and the subway. The rooms were very clean and kept up every day. The noise level was almost nonexistent, especially once you pulled down the blackout shade, which seemed to be noise blocking as well.
We had to call down for extra items which is where we had some issues with them showing up, but if we asked for things at the front desk as we were leaving for the day, they would always be in our rooms on our arrival back. We found out that the reason we didn't always get things when we called down was because the wrong room number showed up on the phone at the front desk, so they were likely taking our things to another room. Must be an issue hotel-wide because they tried to bring us a hair dryer even though we didn't ask for one lol. Once we started clarifying our specific room number, we had no issues!
The front desk staff were always extremely accommodating, helpful, and kind. I had a package delivered to the hotel and it was waiting for me on arrival. They also suggested having packages delivered to the ups store down the street, for a fee, which I also did, and was happy with as an option.
The price was unbeatable (we paid in advance) and the suite was huge, even by our Canadian standards! Two double beds and a couch that turned into a single, plus a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave. Didn't have any issues with hot water even with 4 women showering longer showers. Decor isn't brand new or anything but that isn't something of concern as it is clean and extremely comfortable. Actually, it's probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've slept in! I would absolutely stay here again!

Low ratings are insane - this is the best hotel you'll get in NYC. The rooms are HUGE - these cuts don't exist in NYC anymore. It's an old building with old and small elevators, but those are nothing to cry about. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is here - large bed, sofas, large bathrooms, closets, kitchenette, and lots of space. It's not glamorous or modern, but you're staying at a great and affordable hotel within walking distance of many places you'd need to see in NYC - Empire State Building, Central Park, Time Square, Rockefeller Center. There's also a subway station literally down the street. Highly recommended as long as you're not a whiny visitor who cries at the smallest inconvenience.

We came into New York a few days before we had a cruise. We needed a bedroom and a separate room with a sofa bed in our room. We also have a mini kitchen we didn't count on. The place is older but really a neat hotel. The price was amazing and the location is perfect. I have seem bad reviews on here about the staff. We have not experienced any of that. They have a front desk all night, we'r got here after midnight and got checked in immediately. Thre rooms are huge and the beds very comfy. The water is really hot, not cold showers and the rooms had a jetted tub in each. And they worked. If you want a fancy new shiney hotel room to hang out in, this might not be your cup of tea. But for us it's great. Old charm, clean and couldn't ask for a better location for us out of towners. I will stay here again.

Everything was just perfekt!

I stayed here for a week. The location was unbeatable, I barely needed to use the subway to get to the main places. Also, the rooms were very clean, the beds comfy, the shower amazing. It is true, that the furniture is a little bit outdated, but I really liked the style. It felt like I was back in the 20s of New York.

Also, I stayed alone here and as a woman I felt really save. There was always someone at the reception. Since the hotel is located on a quieter street, I did not get bothered by too much noise.

The communication was also really good. They responded to my Mails within a day!

I would definitely stay here anytime again!

Granted this is an old hotel (small, narrow lobby and a somewhat rickety elevator) - we loved our stay in the King Bed Suite. Plenty of space for 2 people - the suite included a kitchenette area, a living room area, moderately spacious bathroom (water pressure was amazing!), and a large bedroom. Plenty of storage and ample lighting - we had a very comfortable 3-night stay.

The staff at check-in were friendly, courteous, and professional. Housekeeping was on-point w/ the daily upkeep and also courteous and friendly. Thank you guys for accommodating us!

Excellent. We stayed here only one of the four nights on our trip, and I spent the next three days regretting not taking the room for the whole vacation. Room was easily triple the size of any standard room I’ve stayed in anywhere else in NYC. Location was excellent. Room was slightly worn and the elevators were on the slower side, but the rest more than made up for it. Would happily stay here again.

Stayed on Nov 10th so we could see a late show at Carnegie Hall which was a block away.

These reviews are made by pompous aristocrats who don't know what they are talking about. We were scared by the reviews but we couldn't resist a stay in Manhattan for $300.

The place was awesome. The rooms were spacious. The beds were comfortable. Airflow was good. The water pressure in the shower was top notch. The staff was super, super friendly and held our bags when we got there early and held them again when we checked out. The rooms had a microwave, fridge, sink, tv, air and heat, windows to open, and a nice bathroom with tub and shower.

I will definitely be coming back.

For the price it's going to be really hard to beat.

The hotel and the rooms are a bit old/dated, however they're big rooms with plenty of space. Ours had two queen beds, a sofa bed, lots of seating, a good sized bathroom with a great shower. It even had a microwave, fridge etc.

The staff were very friendly when we dealt with them, and the hotel also has a superb walking distance location between Central Park and Times Square. It's also in easy access of a few different subway lines.

Nitpicky stuff - it looks like there was a gym however the room is now empty, the windows were a bit dirty, and it's a shame the black tap bar/restaurant is no longer in operation next door

Very little to complain about really, if you have a reservation you can stay here with confidence. Whatever might have been happening earlier in the year with the bad reviews look to be resolved

Can't beat the location and the kind service! After booking, we received an email that the hotel was under new management but that it wouldn't impact our stay. We thought the rooms were tidy and comfortable, and the shower was warm and had great pressure. The rooms, especially the jacuzzi tub, look like they could use some updates, but overall, it was very comfortable.

Overall, I would highly recommend this lovely hitel.

Was really worried by all the reviews but our stay in early January went great. Everyone working there was awesome, service when we asked for more pillows and later more blankets was the fastest I've ever had, and the bag holding service was great! The room definitely was a little older but it was also bigger than anything else I was seeing around, much less in this price point. We stayed in the 2 queens + couch room which easily fit 5 people.
