Big Dipper

I remember going to the Big Dipper years ago as a kid. It hasn’t changed much, and that’s a good thing! They still have awesome ice cream options, quick service, and a friendly staff. And the serving sizes are very generous! For us, a single scoop was more than enough…just as I remember years ago.

Prices were reasonable, and they accept credit cards. We arrived and the line was out the door and almost around the corner, but we were served in a little over 10 minutes. Make sure to bring some cash for tipping the servers who are college students on summer break.

Hope they continue to keep this LBI staple going years to come!

The serving sizes here are simply insane. One scoop of ice cream is huge. The smoothness and quality of the food was great and we enjoyed it immensely. Great treat to end the day after a hot day. Lots of variety in flavor as well, totally worth a visit

I took my husband here as a part of introducing him to all thing LBI. I told him The Big Dipper is a must when it comes to ice cream on the island. And of course, it did not disappoint!
While I normally get a cone or cup when I visit, we decided to share the Sand Castle sundae which was huge (like ALL of their servings), but so good!
We enjoyed eating it outside on the uncrowned benches as the sun set on Sunday evening while we watched vacationers drive home. Perfect ☺
Ice cream at The Big Dipper is an essential summer experience if you ask me!

There is a great selection of ice cream and different combos. I would suggest that you go to this place for dessert. Also the staff was very nice.

The lines move very quickly. Interesting selection of flavors. Lots of good ice cream on Long Beach Island. This is one of the better places.

Ice cream was delicious, a lot of selections available. The service was very great, friendly and funny. The bench seating outside was perfect for our family as well. Would definitely recommend

During prime time hours over summer the line is out the door for a reason. Fantastic ice cream and great variety. You get a lot of ice cream and a good price. Also good options of floats, milkshakes etc. The kids here are hard workers. 10 stars if I could.

The Ice Cream here is very delicious and I always come here when I'm in LBI!! I highly recommend this shop!

No wonder I see a crowd gathered outside this place. Not only is this one of the busiest spots in Surf City on LBI, its most likely the busiest on the island. The ice cream here is homemade and the several different selections make this one of the top places to come in and try a variety which includes sundaes, frozen yogurt and soft serve. They also take credit cards which is an added plus and the staff is fast and friendly and there are plenty of them. Prices are decent and what you would expect and portions are gigantic!

Good ice cream, good prices, and awesome customer service. Went in there at the end of the night the Saturday before easter and all of the servers were amazing and sweet. When I return in August I will be back! Their moosetracks and customer service was off the chain :)

Really high quality ice cream. The portions are huge. I'm lactose intolerant, so I really appreciate the selection of hard frozen yogurt, right in the front case. It's really good, and tastes just like ice cream. Try the Heath Bar Crunch.

Staff is always friendly, some flavors are hit or miss, but their chocolate peanut butter is AMAZING. Large serving for the price. Can be busy at night so we like to do it as an early afternoon treat.

Always delicious ice cream and generous portions. Kind enough to offer a "doggie dip" for our pup, who was on a walk with us. Don't hesitate, stop in and indulge. 😁

Best ice cream in New Jersey! Absolutely worth the wait. Very clean establishment with friendly employees. I've been going there for many years, and I'll never go anywhere else!
