If you want a very inexpensive fresh fish sandwich, this is the place to go!! It's a cute, no-frills space. You choose your fish from the counter display and they fry it for your sandwich. Lots of choices; I chose red snapper. They had whitting, flounder, catfish, tilapia to name a few. They also offer broiled selections. You can take seafood to go. They had oysters and soft-shell crab, as well as canned crabmeat. The Old Bay fries were great! Not greasy at all! The only thing I wished for was a little more dressing on the coleslaw. I added some to my fish sandwich with the tartar sauce and it was great! The buns were nice and soft; not dry. Drinks are self-serve from the refrigerator. I chose pineapple soda. They also had old-fashioned creme soda, grape, black cherry, etc. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and answered all questions from each customer with a great attitude! All around great!

We go here every time we go to Atlantic city. Very fresh seafood at affordable prices. The owner and staff are so friendly.
Today we tried fried scallops, soft shell crabs, crab cakes and a fish sandwich. All were delicious. And costs less than $35 for all the food for 3 people including 2 soda. Wish we have this gem near our place in New York!

Ordered a dozen of #2s. Found this place last month and I’ve lived in AC all my life. I’ve been going every other week at least! Good crabs ! Big too! The staff is super friendly & helpful as well.

Normally it’s hard to get a 5 star outta me but I love this place. Great prices and tasty food. Also the staff has good hospitality. My go to place when I’m on my work break at bass pro.

This spot is a GEM... I wanted fried whiting, and I was excited that this place sold fish sandwiches. This place was so good that we went back twice during our vacation. The menu is awesome and the food is good! This is a family owned business and needs to be supported. The whiting sandwich ($3.99) was juicy and fresh. Every bite was succulent. The wild salmon ($10.99) was moist and delicious. The fried shrimp & scallops ($13.99) were tasty even though they were soggy by the time I picked it up (next time I'll get there quicker, lol). Also, the raw clams on the half shell were Top Necks and super fresh. The price was a steal at $5.99 for ½ dozen. This is one of the best inexpensive seafood restaurants in that area we found so far.

Tip: Call to place your order and check on availability
Note: Across the street (same side) from White House Subs.

I had the Catfish sandwich $6.99, Crab cake sandwich $4.99 and the sautéed scallops platter $9.99. All photos are in review. The sandwiches were perfect. Hot, fresh and tasty. I had the tartar sauce put right on the sandwiches. They do offer it on the side if you want. The sandwiches are simple and wrapped in foil. The buns are warm and go very well with the fish it’s served on. The scallops platter I gave a 4/5. The scallops were definitely fresh just not seasoned enough for me. The veggies were hot and the cole slaw was, ok. The shop definitely has a history and you can see that by all the photos/memorabilia in the shop. Fresh caught fish can be seen in there display case. There were no flies/gnats flying over the fish in the case. Very clean in the case. The eat in part of the store was also clean. I ate in and noticed there was no garbage container. A couple that had been eating in there was leaving and noticed there was not garbage either. The staff advised them to leave there their food wrappers etc on the front counter. The staff took care of the garbage for them. Which I think is smart, it cuts down on flies being in the eat in part of shop and pestering guests trying to eat. I will definitely visit this shop again. If you visit this location go before 5pm which is the time they close. The location is not open on Sundays. Lastly, the staff was friendly and did ask the eating in patrons “how was the food, and if everything was ok?” My order came to $23 and change and I waited under 10 min for it. As I stated earlier, I will be returning for the sandwiches and to try the fried platter selections.

Lemme preface this with the fact that I have high standards for a good fried fish sandwich— a good one is worthy contender for my preferred last meal, and a bad one is, in my book, sacrilege. I got the flounder sandwich. Unreal good. Literally worth planning a trip to AC around this sandwich.

So I took my mom on a Mom's Day trip. We read an article about great sandwich shops. We decided we would try it. The food is great, the prices were even better but the service was priceless. You should definitely try this place, they were amazing.

OMG, you have to get their fried flounder sandwich. Eat it while it's hot...soooo good. We had their fried jumbo shrimps, scallops and 8 oz fried lobster tails and let me tell you, it was VERY VERY TASTY!!! Was not disappointed at all. It wasn't our 1st time and it won't be our last.

If you want fresh seafood without the tourist prices, this is the place to go. It's actually a local seafood market, a couples of blocks from the boardwalk, but they have hot menu items that you can dine in if a table is available. They just have a few tables and stools. Food is fresh, tastes like home cooked meals, and is so affordable. Owners are very nice and attentive, and asked how everything was. This will be our go to whenever we're in Atlantic City

Perfect under the radar local spot. Reminds me of the old fishery restaurant my grandparents used to take us when we were kids. Super fresh seafood.

Nothing fancy and reasonably priced. Also some cool memories on the wall to check out while you wait. Worth a visit if you're in town.

Barbera Seafood is a staple!! I have long loved their inexpensive and high quality fish sandwiches. Order two if you have an appetite. I’ve brought many visitors to AC to Barbera’s and they have NEVER disappointed. Great raw seafood as well for purchase and cooking at home. They also sharpen knives!

Amazing Amazing Amazing fresh sea food. we’re visiting from miami so we have high standards for fresh fish. Ask about the seafood platers it’s half the price of any competitor in the area. Definitely a local owned Gem. Oysters were also great and well priced. Some seating inside if not they have seating outside.

🇺🇸 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 More, more, more…who knew that in ALL of the years that I waited in line at White House Subs,THIS PLACE was less than a block away, serving EXTRAORDINARY FRESH SEAFOOD SANDWICHES!!! Priced at $5 each, you might want to order more than one!

The best part, however, is the fact that for people who are either diabetic, need to avoid gluten/carbs/anything fried, they do offer items on their Classic Old-School menu listed as: “SAUTÉED”.
You can find no better way to be good to your health than ordering from THIS section of their menu - which hangs from the ceiling. Remember those???

Awww, this place is a trip down memory lane. So many people walked in and mentioned: “I used to go here with my Grandparents!” Or, “My Mom knew your Grandfather!” It was a pleasure to overhear it all as I sat at the counter. How this place doesn’t have a line of customers around the block defies logic, I can only blame the sign outside - only locals and insiders know that they also serve the FRESHEST SEAFOOD 🌊 Platters/Sandwiches, delicious Hush Puppies, Fries, Ice-cold Beverages and any item that will enhance your seafood cooking at home.

I’ve been a food writer for years and I really thought that I knew every great hidden food spot in town…but WOW, I didn’t know what I was missing!!! I blame it on their sign outside, it says “Barbera Fish Market” 🐠 who knew it has places to sit for the BEST best best Summertime experience!

🐟 Recommended:

“Sautéed Flounder” Platter ($9.99?) - cooked in a broth that tastes like “Old Bay” seasoning, it comes with String Beans, Peas & Carrots 🥕 and Homemade Coleslaw that’s PERFECT! No bread = No Gluten/Extra Carbs 🤩

“Sautéed Wild Salmon” ($10.99?)
Prepared as above, the HEALTHIEST type of Salmon one can eat! It’s PHENOMENAL, I added Yellow Mustard to it (wish they had plastic packs of Dijón Mustard) but adding the mustard brought it to the NEXT LEVEL OF AWESOMENESS!!! 🏆

The Proprietor’s, Mr. & Mrs. Alcaro and their son were there…everyone is treated with respect and they ALL are hard workers who take pride in the roots from the Calabria region of Italy. 🇮🇹 Mr. Alcaro and I chatted about life and he’s just a salt of the Earth kind of person.

I’m looking forward to my summer weekends in Atlantic City and trips here to get one of their healthy fish platters…I’m going to bring my own Dijon! 😃

Cent’anni and MORE! Keep serving your customers with L🩵VE…that’s the secret ingredient here!!! Many blessings for your continued success! 👁

Super fresh and tastes amazing. It’s a great value and probably one of the cheapest spots without being a fast food chain. I wasn’t sure what to order, but the staff was amazing and suggested the flounder sandwich. It was delicious! Can’t wait to return.

Fresh...fresh....fresh. We ordered a fried scallop dinner for each of us and they were some of the best we've had up and down the Atlantic coast.
