Downtown Bistro

Kennett, Missouri’s Downtown Bistro is quite a surreal experience in dining excellence. Here, you’ve stepped into another world. And it’s one of the kind of things you would wish to see in every restaurant.

I’ve been in town a couple of weeks, found out about Downtown Bistro 3 or 4 days in, and every visit (and there have been many) has been absolutely amazing.

It all starts with correct leadership; it always does, right? Here, the owner operator is from Greece & he’s an extraordinary mentor to all his staff, a great & imaginative chef, apparently a visionary (as evidenced by his careful & innovative design of the restaurant; including interesting photos of the township’s history) and of course, the menu of Downtown Bistro includes delicious dishes for every taste. Everything is delicious— as well as beautifully presented.

In short, I love this place. And the people who work here are just entirely competent, thoughtful, accommodating and good people.

You’d think that each employee was from the same wonderful family…but instead, these thoughtful employees are simply fantastic people who’ve been kindly trained to work in a harmonious work environment. Very amazing experience to see. And dine in.

And if all the aforementioned weren’t enough, the owner himself is a true international war hero. His name is Christos Panagiotidis. This man is singularly responsible for decisively taking charge on the Grecian-Turkish border and for personally saving the lives of a group of innocent young girls attempting to migrate & who were in harm’s way on the border. This man personally intervened & stopped the unnecessary use of deadly force. He saved their lives. Period.

In short, this is really one of those great places.

So, if you’re considering the Downtown Bistro, go ahead and head that way. The people, the food, their friendliness, thoughtfulness and ambience are all together just a marvelous experience.

We were in town late after a game at the middle school and looking for a place to get a good dinner that wasn’t fast food. A lady at the game recommended Downtown Bistro. They close at 9pm and we walked in at 8:15. I hate going in that close to closing and expecting a lot, but our server assured us we were fine. Casey took care of us and made some recommendations. It took about 15 or so minutes for us to get our food, not long at all. Every thing came out perfect and was great. If you live in Kennett and haven’t tried them, you should. If you’re visiting, stop in and enjoy.

Absolutely wonderful! What a delightful place to eat! It was so neat and clean and the pictures of Kennet on the walls was really cool. The food was excellent and the service was great!

Friday night had a band playing. They were excellent! Food was very good.

We like this place very much. The food is very consistent. It is somewhat expensive. But anyplace will cost at least $10 per person these days. Here, if you pick carefully, you can eat here for about $15. There are menu items that cost $11-13-15. Non-alcoholic drinks are $3. Classic Burger is $10.99 and comes with a quality side. Half order of spaghetti is $11.99, comes with bread and is plenty for one person. Nice historic atmosphere without being too fussy.
The last two times we have been here, the place is struggling. The kitchen can't keep up. When we arrived today, there was only 4 other tables with customers. We waited forever to get our food.
Update Spring 2023: Things are about the same. Prices have not gone up. We still had quite a wait - especially for a Monday night.

I had a shrimp pasta dish and it was very good. Our waitress was fabulous. My only concern is how loud the live guitar player was playing and singing. It made it almost impossible to have a dinner conversation. Maybe no microphone and an acoustic guitar instead?

Stopped in while visiting family in the area. I can surely see why this place is popular. Plenty of seating, nice little bar and food was good. Was a little confused why all the beer on tap was out during a Tuesday.

Great food and Atmosphere. Live music was on point. Highly recommend this place.

The waitress we had did not offer a highchair, bring any silverware, napkins, or ketchup when our food was brought.

First time! Group of 3 in at 8:15pm (they close at 9pm). Casey, our server, sat us no problem. Food was out in 14 minutes, service was timely and we never had to ask for refills. Everything was wonderful.

Hands down one of my favorite places to eat around here. I will say that they have the best alligator bites I have ever eaten. Even better than in Pensacola, FL. The owner and his wife are the most precious people I have ever met. Kennett is blessed to have The Bistro.

The most delicious and authentic Greek cuisine you will find within 100 miles, and they serve many dishes that are your typical fare, like burgers and steaks. Everything is on point and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The owner and master chef Christos is very friendly and accommodating as well as an excellent chef. Some nights they even have live music.

Worth every dollar. If you want cheap food, go to McDonald's or Taco Bell. If you want the most delicious food and a great experience, hit the Downtown Bistro. And bring an appetite, because they don't skimp on the portions!

Clean, friendly, waitress was nice and informative I had spaghetti and meatballs 1/2 order and some kind of tortalinni all sauces are homemade and waitress said the owners were from Greece

Me and my wife drove 2 hours to eat at this wonderful restaurant service was great drinks were spot on and the owner (Christos) is the nicest most polite guy I've met in a long time. And people let tell you the food was exquisite, excellent awesome, great tasting and fresh !!!! Thanks Downtown Bistro and staff

My Fiance had the bourbon burger and I had the shrimp linguine...both were amazing...the staff we very pleasantly helpful...would recommend 100 times over!
