They do have bathrooms but I found it easier to change diapers in the back of my car. The kids had so much fun at the splash pad though. If you haven’t been before there is a button you push to make the water go. So if it doesn’t look on it maybe that you just need to push the button.

This has improved the quality of Leavenworth 1000 times over. It is clean, it is a great size, and best of all it cost nothing.
Good job Leavenworth. It’s worth coming to spend the afternoon!

This park was so much fun. Plenty of tables and shade. BBQ grills. Tons of space for the kids to play in the water. And lots of playground equipment. And FREE!!!

The public bathrooms are back open!! (This is huge for me because it was difficult to change a baby's diaper, or change a potty-training toddler's pants, in the disgusting portapottys...)
For some reason the heater in the bathrooms is turned up very, very high though? Don't go in there on a hot day if you're prone to heat stroke and/or fainting!

We love this park because there are usually less kids at the playgrounds.
One playground is for small kids, and one is for big kids.
However, since there are no slides, nor activities to really do at the small kid's playground, my toddlers prefer the big kids playground.

We haven't checked out the other amenities yet, but we see other families using the baseball/softball court often.

Centrally located. Large park with a couple of play areas. It has a kiddie pool in the summer. Shaded by a lot of large beautiful trees. It has a few baseball fields for summer fun. Public bathroom and free parking.

Been going to this park for over 35 years. I used to skateboard in the kiddie pool back in the 80s . Recently public works tore the kiddie pool out and replaced it with a brand new splash pad. The old kiddie pool was at the end of its days long ago. Splash pad is a welcome improvement.

I have memories at this park, because I was a hibictual runaway there's times I would sleep on one of the park benches and wake up to a police officer watching me sleep when I was 15 years old. Then 2 years later I got married under the pavilion with being pregnant at 16 then having my baby at 17 years old. Then moved on Ironmoulders when I 23 years old and I got to walk my daughters up t the park to play on the playground.

Usually very quiet. Bit of an uphill walk so be aware, the entire thing is on a small mound of Earth. Very nice for relaxing in the sun a bit.

I grow up in this park. Played ball swing climb up in thing even wade in little pool. That not only thing I did I rode horse up there to make money when I was about 12 years old with the neighborhood kids. What is so amazing is my son Daniel Jost at the of 14 dedicated the wheelchair swing with the St Mary College students from the class of 2015-2017 Doctor of physical therapy. They raised over $2000 to put this swing in Hawthorne Park 2 years ago. Daniel Jost got honor of this deed because he was the only child in
Lv school district 453 in a wheelchair. My son has Spinda Bifida. This took the students sometime to raise this money I think over a year to raise it. I was talking about this Hawthorne Park when I was kid and this where Daniel and the student pick this park to go. There a lot of history behind that park. I'm hoping to get this picture in here to. The one I did forget to say and that Daniel got his picture taking with the Mayor Lisa Weakley. The students got a certificate for the good job they did.
