Super 8 by Wyndham Overland Park/Metcalf/Convention Center

I truly appreciated our stay at this Super 8. I have seen some bad reviews and complaints but I've found nothing that supports anything negative I've read. Actually, the exact opposite is true.
Myself and children have been at this Super 8 awaiting my husband to be transferred to a long term, acute care hospital due to a car accident. Our wait was initially planned to be a few days and has since turned into weeks.
Every single day, our room has been cleaned, our room smells fresh. This place has very regular employees, not a bunch of rotating staff. The staff are attentive, pleasant and upbeat. We are always greeted with a smile.
The only thing that did not work was the blow dryer. My 6 year old wanted to blow dry her stuffed animal after a bath but the blow dryer wasn't working. I mentioned it to the lady at the desk as we were walking to the vending machines and there was a worker to our room, replacing the blow dryer within 10 minutes and this was at about 6 pm.
Very good service. Very clean place. And although my bill has quickly racked up due to the number of days we have needed to stay, the rate was very reasonable ESPECIALLY considering the level of cleanliness, service and overall sense calm we were able to experience during this very hard time for our family. I would have needed to spend easily double to have had a similar experience anywhere else.
Having a family member in the hospital, being away from home with young children, dealing with doctors, insurance companies, paperwork and so on ALL DAY, for WEEKS has been horrible. Having found a place in which to return at the end of the day where the children can feel safe and calm, where i can collect my thoughts and make plans for the next day, a place where everything has felt so comfortable, clean and peaceful has been priceless. Plus, there is a wonderful park for children within minutes, a Chuck E Cheese for children, just a short drive to the Prairie Fire area where they have a movie theatre where you can watch a movie while having food brought to your table just like in a restaurant with the same price as we usually would have spent going to a regular movie theatre at home. The area in which this Super 8 is located has helped with finding some joy for the children while their father is in the hospital.
I have traveled for vacation with our family and spent anywhere from $150-$300 a night at "higher end" hotels and found more chaos, drunks and loudness than at this Super 8 for less than $80 a night. If traveling with children, i highly recommend this place.

We've stayed here before and am happy to stay here again. Yes, the rooms and baths are small but perfectly adequate for us. Room is clean and comfortable. The staff is always wonderful and ready to answer our questions. Tara checked us in, she's a great asset for her customer service.

Excellent stay. One of the best Super 8 I've stayed at. Room was clean and updated. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was actually better than most super 8. Muffind, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal, waffles of course and milk and juices. All very clean cafe area as well. Big thumbs up. I wish all the Super 8's were this nice. I was very satisfied.

Checked in without a problem. Room was clean and everything was functional and in what seemed to be well maintained order. The morning breakfast area is well kept and stocked compared to a couple other local places. All employees were friendly and helpful, especially Sue; which is nice if you've been on the road and tired as I was. Thank you.

This is a great family hotel. I was alittle leary at first after reading the reviews but the hotel was very close to our destination. So we stayed there anyway and to my surprise it was great.the beds were comfy and the pillows were fluffy. The towels were a bit stiff but they were larger than a normal hotel towel. The breakfast was good. So overall this was a great experience I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice affordable hotel.

This motel is by far the best that I have been a guest at in a very long time. Staff is friendly and courteous. Cleaner than most. Laid back and quiet even when it is fully booked. I will just leave it at this. Overall very satisfactory

First time Here! Room Was Clean! Bed was Comfortable like a Cloud! Breakfast was Warm and tasteful! Front Desk and Staff were Friendly always with a warm smile! I'm a very Picky Persone! Will be coming back!

This is a great Super 8. The rooms are clean and spacious. Equipped with mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Very clean. The staff is friendly. Also it's pretty affordable. What more can you ask for?

Friendly staff and clean room. Had actually pretty good free breakfast. Pretty good pricing for the whole weekend we were there. Really close to convention center which was a big plus. Would recommend if looking for a nice and cheap place to crash at for the weekend or longer.

While traveling to see family, we needed a place to stop on the way. The rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable. The waffle making station was a hit with our family during continental breakfast!

I was very very happy with my stay there. The room was clean and the lady in the front was very very helpful. I had a bit of a situation last night and she went up and beyond what she needed to in order to help me and to help me be able to stay there. I am a truck driver and I travel through this area often and I will be sure to stay here at this hotel every chance that I get

My Family and I Stayed In The Suite And We Absolutely Loved It!!! Big Windows For Letting Plenty Of Sunshine Inside Made It So Much More Enjoyable. :)And The Huge King Bed Was Amazing!!!!

The Super 8 is a very convenient location in Overland Park. It is upscale hotel, but still relatively inexpensive . It sits next to 2 other motels. Located on the north side of I-435 and also north of the convention center. They have a outdoor swimming pool. Very small though . Kid friendly environment too.

Granddaughter loved the outside pool. 3-11girl was Fantastic and Awesome. Breakfast was pretty good. Bathroom could have been better.

Had everything I needed for a reasonable price! The desk folks were every friendly, too. It was clean and up to date. There was a pool but it just so happened the night I was there it was cold.

I loved it. The staff waa nice. The pool is sooo relaxing & the rooms were nice & cozy feeling. The breakfast was good, they give a lot of varieties.

We had a wonderful lady greet us when we arrived, our room wonderful, and the breakfast smelled amazing, but we already had plans to eat elsewhere so we didn't try it.

Nice and clean room. Front desk staff were polite and helpful. Price was right..we will book here again.

Great if you're looking for a cheap hotel. Friendly staff. Small bathrooms (to be expected at this price). Cereal and a couple of other choices for breakfast.

Good price, clean, quiet, nice room. Outside pool for summer. 2 blocks from I435 and right off Metcalf. In Overland Park KS. Shopping and places to eat within a mile either direction you go on Metcalf
