Brookwood Elementary School

My Son is in the First Grade at Brookwood. Has a lot of great friends and loves to go to school. Teachers are involved and so are the parents. Great School. A+++++++++++++++

good school. except for what you learn .

My son Mark went to this school couple years ago,he was in Kindergarden with Miss "R" I always notice something wasn't right with him. So his teacher recomend to me to take to the Dr,she prescribe medicine for him, my son after this medicine he never was ok,.
We are living here in CALIFORNIA for 2 years, I have the chance to talk to him,ask questions,like how he feels in his school with Miss "R" ,he finally confess to me, then she never like him,I mean never, then she control the kids with her "EYES" then she have her "favorites" "students" probably 1 or 2, he very clear told me ,she never like me mama,NEVER!!!

He start here first grade and this year second grade, I wait all this time, because I want to give him a chance to be himself, I didn't want to write here this review.the second day I move to CA of course not.
I want to see how he is without medicine his first grade, and I did .
His teacher is excellent with him,when I have PTA, his teacher told me,he doesn't need medicine, he is normal, like any boy of 6 years old, he is very good in numbers,but not need to take medicine in all.

He is going to second grade this year, is different teacher, the same,he is good,very active but good,he recover his confidence,he have a lot of homework,but my son is the boy then I always want to see.

Personally I don't know who really is this teacher, but one thing I know: Is a lot people rich live around this neighbor"LEAWOOD" is very sad,because sometime both parents have to work,and we don't notice how our kid can be in his school,the place then each of our kids spend 7 to 8 hours.
I was just like ignorant follow what a teacher say to me, and put my son in a horrible position, because after each medicine he take ,his temperament got loose,he screaming,crying,it was horrible being there.

One more thing,the last day of the school, it was a party in the classroom, it was just half day, I remember I went to with my son, there was cookies,like picnic stuff, I told my son : honey pick a cookie, he say nooo! why papi? Miss "R" will be upset. My son it was scary about this teacher ,I never did anything,.
I also remember to telling this teacher, Miss "R" I didn't give him his medicine because is only half day, I just don't want to see him aggressive after the medicine go off, her answer what this: "BAD ,YOU SHOULD GIVE TO HIM"
As a mother i feel in the moment,horrible, everybody it was happy but not me, but it was the first time of the beginning of my real life, since the day ,my son never take any medicine.
I'm here,thanks to God, very happy with my kids, I writing this review because I know I can not change the past,but if I can change the decision of some parents, if I can at least tell the parents please at least think about it,if your kids go to this school,make sure they trust you, make sure they tell you how the teacher are with them,only the true.
All my kids are going to the same school ,I love they teachers, they have a lot of discipline but with respect,not with "scary" you earn discipline with respect, with patient,with communication.

My best regards to all the mothers there in LEAWOOD, and just keep watching your kids close and the little time you have to talk with them ask them about how they feel in his classroom? Special if they are in KINDERGARDEN ,they are very easy to be confused about discipline and manipulation,they are little to see and understand why"??? She doesn't like me??? why???
