Hampton Inn & Suites Overland Park South

We were going to a comic con in Kansas City and the downtown hotel prices were outrageous (for rooms and parking). We opted for this hotel based on its 4.5 star rating (highest we found) and the great location. We were able to check in on our phone, select the room and use a digital key for the duration of our stay. We checked out on our phone and our card on file was charged. For the entire 3 days, we didn't have to go up to the front desk once.

Our room was very spacious (king size with couch) and clean, including the bathroom. (About 10 years ago, we stayed in a not cheap hotel in Kansas City and ended up bringing home bed bugs from it, so we've been traumatized ever since. As soon as we get to a hotel, the first thing we do is check the bedding and mattress for bed bugs, etc. This room passed with flying colors.) Bed was comfortable. The walk in shower was big and clean, very nice. (Although the hot water took a bit to come on, once it did, it was wonderful.)

Breakfast bar was about the same as others we've stayed in. It wasn't spectacular, but there were enough options for everyone to find something.

The location is great and felt very safe. There are lots of stores and places to eat in the area, including one of our favorite fast food places right in the same parking lot. This came in very handy when we were hungry and tired after walking around all day.

Overall, this is a great hotel. Without a doubt, I would choose it again for our next trip.

Stayed here for two nights on a work trip and was impressed with the quality. I don't expect much from a Hampton Inn aside from a quality night of rest, but the staff went above and beyond here. They upgraded me to a suite before I got there which was spacious and recently updated. In my room was a note thanking me for being a diamond member and when I dialed down to the front desk, the attendant responded to me by name. The little details made this a fabulous stay! The only improvement I'd recommend is the breakfast, but it is pretty much the same offerings across the Hampton Inn chain.

The hotel was perfect. Very nice inside, well it always. Classy decorated rooms. Would have given five stars for room except that the curtain only closed across half of the window, the way it was designed. Front desk staff was very nice and great hot breakfast!

Lovely breakfast and good coffee. The children loved the pool. Staff were very welcoming and gracious -attentive to all of our needs.

Extremely clean everywhere, reception and dining room are attractive, rooms are large, showers comfortable, bed comfortable, good work space, and very good breakfast and all staff are friendly and professional.

This place is legit 5 stars! Amazing hotel and had a very peaceful stay during my work travel. The staff was very accommodating, the manager was very kind and the hotel was kept clean. It was of close proximity to my office and served the purpose. There had laundry and a gym that helped avoid all the inconvenience. Thanks for the wonderful service!

Stayed for the first time and it was excellent. Rooms are cleaned and comfortable and staff is friendly and helpful. Great free breakfast, too!

Staff great. The property is clean and quiet. When I go to KC that is the place to stay, hwy access and good location.

Fantastic stay here. Had a mixup on the dates reserved and, despite the challenge of being overbooked, they were able to accommodate our family for the time we needed. Good breakfast as well!

Nice clean rooms which function. Their breakfast is actually good. They had a wide selection of oatmeal and toppings, warm sausage, potatoes, western omelettes, scrambled eggs, and TWO types of waffle batter plus toppings.

My second stay on business at this location. Both stays were fantastic.

This Hampton Inn was very clean and smelled very nice. Rooms are large and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Great location and staff was friendly.

If I could live here I would. Great rooms, good food. The hotel is kept so clean you can smell the cleanliness in the air, very pleasant. Many conveniences and close to everything. The best part was the staff. They were all personable and took pride in seeing that our visit was everything it could be, I want to adopt them as my second family.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Overland Park on Sept 7 for 1 night. This was the best experience I’ve ever had at a Hampton, and I’ve stayed a lot of them. The woman who checked me in around 9 PM was very friendly and efficient. In the morning, Benjamin was working at the front desk. He is amazing! His energy and enthusiasm were infectious. He seemed to truly love his job and made me feel as though my satisfaction was the his highest priority. What a nice way to start my day!
This hotel was clean and well-equipped with sanitizing wipes available next to the elevator. My room was very clean. Another detail: there’s were multiple hooks in the bathroom (a rarity in hotels for some reason!). I have never given a hotel 5 stars. I’m not saying its perfect but for this class of hotel its pretty close.

This is a great affordable hotel with comfy clean rooms. Breakfast was very good, had eggs, sausages, hashbrowns, fruit, pastries. Waffles, cereal and oatmeal were also available. Staff was friendly. Would stay here again when passing through.

This hotel was very clean and the rooms were very nice. My only complaint was that there was no fan in the bathroom, so when you take a shower or take a dump, it gets stinky and steamy.

I truly do not understand all of the negative reviews that I have seen. I have a lot of health issues, including: mast cell activation syndrome, which basically means that I’m allergic to everything, and I Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which means that even slight vibrations (from a pool pump or large HVAC unit, etc) can cause pain and joint subluxations.

My health issues make me a very picky traveler.

If I was glad to stay at this hotel for five nights, it’s a quality hotel.

I came in exhausted after a camping trip on Tuesday. With no reservation, they checked me into the room of my choosing, right then. I thought I would have to come back- it was like before noon-but nope! They checked me right in.

I had a few modifications to my trip that came up, and they worked with me through every single one, even at one point delivering breakfast to my room to help.

Every single person I encountered was more than polite. They were truly friendly.

James (I think), had a countenance that felt truly warm and we talked about the way we like our eggs and, when they ran out before breakfast was over, he went back and made me some more and then went back to helping at the front desk.

The service here was extraordinary. I’m actually planning a future stay already!

The location is phenomenal (beautiful trail right behind the building, and many more within a few miles of a drive, right off the highway, close to major shopping malls and food delivery, and, my fav, three internationally renowned chocolate shops-well, Christopher Elbow is a 17 min drive but still-and Tea-biotics Kombucha)!

The facilities are clean (I react to cleaning products so I should know :-P), safe, well-maintained (I couldn’t figure out my heating unit, and someone was up showing me how to work it within two minutes, but the error was a user error for sure), ideally located, and chock full of friendly staff and excellent amenities (each day the eggs were different, and there was salsa and cheese to put on them, and the waffles had strawberry sauce and chocolate chips and whipped cream…yum)!

I was seriously impressed with this place! We stayed only one night, but from the minute we walked in the staff was super friendly and made conversation with us. They were younger than I usually see at hotels, and they were already amazing at their jobs. They were very complimentary to us and made us feel welcome, even stopping to greet us again and tell us we looked great when we were leaving to go to our family event. I also was very happy with how easily they handled a situation where we locked ourselves out of our room. No hassle whatsoever. The room itself was really cool! We had a king size bed room and I've never seen a room with this specific layout, but it was really nice and I loved how many mirrors they had and how you could have more or less privacy in the bathroom depending on your preference. I loved the shower, you could adjust it to whatever water pressure setting you wanted, and it was the perfect temperature. Not to mention it was just a very pretty shower too. The provided makeup wipes worked very well and I wish I'd gotten more to take home! Even the shampoo provided smelled great. They offer an assortment of toiletries for free at the front desk if you've forgotten to bring any. I didn't have time to try the pool but my friend enjoyed it a lot. If anything wasn't perfect, I would say the breakfast selection was a little scarce, but I did go down later than usual so they might have just run out of certain things. The seating area for breakfast was very comfortable! The location is also great, there's tons of restaurants nearby and it's conveniently right off the highway. I would absolutely love to stay here again! No issues with cleanliness whatsoever. The room seemed pretty modern and bright, different to many hotels I've stayed at before.
