I’ve been trying to visit all the parks in the area and this one is rather stunning, for its very simple design. There’s no benches or a playground for kids, but the single-arch structure bridge still stands beautifully and well-preserved by its caretakers over the years.

Chicken Creek which flows beneath the bridge, you can take the steps down to the water and have a moment of solitude all to yourself and relax. That’s what I really like about this Historic park. It’s a place where you can go to just relax, it’s tucked away in the countryside but still just outside of Lawrence.

If you’re a person who loves history, there’s a plaque which you can read to learn the History of the Arch.

There’s even a trail you can take a hike on opposite the main park. You can’t enter the farmer’s land behind, but you can follow the trail.

This is a minuscule gem of a park with about five parking spaces, tucked between a county road and some private land. The stone arch over the creek is actually on the National Register of Historic Places. There isn't a whole lot to do here, and the water in the creek seems to be seasonal, but it's a tiny little slice of history and I'm glad that it has been preserved. It's teeming with native plants and you can even observe birds and fish from time to time. I feel like it's overshadowed by nearby Lone Star Lake, but it's worth a stop if you're on your way there or your way back. Bring a chair and some mosquito repellent!

Really nice stone arch bridge! Very well kept! No graffiti at all! Was nice to be able to walk up to the arch and look thru it!!

The highlight of this small country wayside is an old stone bridge.

That’s a darn good-looking 1913 stone arch bridge, even if it does cross Burton’s Branch and not Chicken Creek itself. Hey, at least it’s still there and wasn’t bulldozed to make room for the new concrete bridge. That was nice of them. And they put a plaque on it in 1999 with the name of the highway commissioners who saved it. They also put two trash cans there, and it’s not their fault if people don’t use them. The graffiti is a lot less obnoxious than in Parke County, Indiana... no “Tursts Suck” messages here. All in all a nice little place to stop and take a breath of the dusty Kansas air.

Met my now wife here for our first date, proposed here and took our son's first 1yr old birthday pictures here.
Back 3 years ago it felt more historical without the graffiti all over the concrete and stone on the bridge..

It's a historical bridge in the middle of nowhere. It's very peaceful and beautiful though. Sadly the area has been vandalized and graffiti and trash distract a bit from the experience.
