Heartland Humane Society

We recently adopted our Jack Russell Terrier (Jack, now Dewey) from Heartland. The people we worked with were kind and patient, and worked with us to make sure he and our other dog got along. I would definitely recommend this shelter.

We adopted our new pup here last weekend and I was highly impressed with their facility compared to others! They had roomy indoor/outdoor runs for almost all of their dogs, and even kiddie pools in most. They also had a large area for exercise/play. The dogs were clearly loved and very well cared for. It was a name your price for dogs over 6 months so we were able to adopt him for a great price. Thank you for helping complete our family Heartland! ❤

Everyone there is very caring. Friendly. We got a fur baby there. The meet and greet went well. If your dog don't match with the one you want. They help you to figure out witch one is best..

There all so nice. We got are baby boy fin form there. He just hit 2 years old. We got when he was 3mouths old. They take care of the animals very well. Cages are always clean. They have so many sweet fur baby's in there. If you thinking about geting a pet. I would go to heart land first.

This is a great place to get a wonderful dog or cat! They are always clean and you can tell the people love these animals. I took out some cat and dog food to donate as it is always needed!

Pam has done a great job at Heartland, she is an angel for these animals! Thank you so much for Selene she has been an amazing addition to our family!

We have adopted 2 cats & a dog from them. Perfect fits for our family. I would highly recommend them.

Today I was at a flea market up the street from Heartland Humane. Their facility is clean and the animals are well taken care of. There are lots of dogs to adopt too. Check them out online if your thinking about adopting. Everything you need to know is on their site. Check out Izzy and his brother, they both have been there since they were puppies. If not already gone they could use a good home with space to run.

Heartland is a wonderful no kill shelter, and the animals get amazing care by an awesome staff until these sweet babies find their furever homes.

This place is a great place to adopt a new pet. I myself have volunteered my time to help interact with these cats and dogs. So stop by and adopt your new best friend from this place. You will not regret the decision.

Had some nice stray cats make a home in an old shed. Seemed like they were dropped off in the park behind my house. Clean and friendly but unfortunately we could not keep them at our house. They gladly took them even though they were not accepting cats at the time. I am happy that they are a no-kill shelter. I bought and donated a big bag of food also. Im sure they will make great pets for someone. Im so happy they could help with our situation.

Nice place I'm a little hard to find. They have a lot of animals there. I went down there to look at a specific black lab that they had and unfortunately for me it was already been adopted so good for it. I arrived ready at 5:00 when I close and the woman just said to me you know you came all the way down here will show you around and everything. So they're really nice people and all I want to do is make sure that the place pets in there forever home. So you have to fill out an application and then they check it and such. They had six black Labrador retriever mixed puppies. They're just cute as can be. Puppies are fun for about 15 minutes and then they can be demanding.

My cats had kittens I had trouble finding them good homes I wanted them to go to a home that would fix them & truly love them My landlord was upset all surroundings shelters where full as well as heartland they give me some food I never told them I was in a financial struggle that was a kind gesture they did on their own when I first move to iowa i was put off by the looks of the place but realized the animals are well taken care of the employees know the personalities do's &don'ts of each pet they are also well socialized at one point they could of spent money on making the place look more appealing & eye catching but instead expanded the place whether you choose to save animals here or there either way it's
a beautiful thing I give 5 stars because they are awesome & their hearts are in the right place also a great place to visit and volunteer

The people where very helpful & kind...where very helpful with trying to find a older dog for my grieving elderly female Pit momma Bella ...I had to put her son Rhino- My Blue pit and my sons Pit Rango(my Granddog) down..they sent me pictures and information about dogs they thought we would be entered in. Went to Heartland Human Society to see Oscar. He was a Beautiful dog thought we had found Bella a friend. Sorry to say he was to hyper for Bella...I recommend if your looking for a new family member please go to Heartland Human Society and check out the older dogs they need a forever home. It breaks my heart that some can take their elderly dog to the pound and walk away without a care...I understand if the person has health issues, ect..do they ever wonder what that poor old soul of a dog is thinking? So sorry for going on like this...I just love dogs young or old .. if I could I'd rescure evey dog out there that needed a place,food & water & endless love.💞

Wonderful, amazing helpful staff that just recently had a change in managment. This facility is clean, well run, and not one animal looks sad or mistreated. I was in visiting doggos the other day and watched a couple come in that were in desperate need of cat food. The director, Morgan, gave the couple loads of cat food and litter.....at no cost!!!! HHS truly believes in helping animals and their humans ! Everyone working there has their hearts in the right place. Shannon, cinda, Pam, Morgan and Jennifer keep that place running ship shape. Keep being awesome heartland humane society. And to the person reading this; they always ALWAYS need volunteers! Having a bad day? Go down to the shelter and walk a dog! Go hang out with a creature that will love you the second it lays eyes on you!! Nothing feels better than the adoration of an animal!
