White Pine Cottage

We absolutely love this place! Took our family for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. We can't wait to go back 😉 Cory, the owner was great with any questions we had.

We loved our stay at White Pine Cottage! It's location is perfect for everything we wanted to do. It so happens that RAGBRAI ended there the weekend we were there, and we just planned to do everything we wanted before they would be heading in, then had a relaxing day at the cottage, just playing games and enjoying each others company.
The cottage held all seven of us easily. Just remember to take your own paper products, towels, sheets etc. The kitchen had pots & pans enough for what we were cooking.
The beds are firm, so plan accordingly if you like them softer, bring a topper.
Then grounds are substantial & just beautiful. As a amatuer photographer, I LOVED getting pictures of all the flowers , birds etc. Make sure you hike the trail going up the big hill.
The Jacuzzi is WONDERFUL. My husband wants one now😉
Cory is an AWESOME host and is just a phone call away.

Great cabin. Lots of room for our group of ten. Kids had fun in hot tub and dry Creek bed. Close to town but also far from the crowds.

Very clean with a nice hot tub on deck over looking the fire pit!

Perfect. Nothing else need be said. Just Perfect.

Hot tub was just what I needed. Washer didn't work.

Amazing experience in this cabin. We were a group of 10 and this place accommodated us very well. Nice location to hike and spend quality time in isolation. There is a small hill we hiked on which was an added bonus. Some downsides to note they did not provide dish washer capsule, dish washer scrub, only 2 trash bags were provided which we ran out of very quickly. No immediate support at the cabins location. We had 6 inches snow one day and had be one phone and messages to get them to clean the driveway. Otherwise I am sure they would not have cleaned it.

Upon our arrival at White Pine cabin in Lansing, Iowa we noticed the hot tub was filthy, the refrigerator was not working properly and the overall cleanliness was far less than par.   The rugs were filthy and one of the bathroom rugs was sopping wet, mouse poop in kitchen drawers, animal hair on furniture, etc. We notified Cory the next morning.  He was out that afternoon to empty the hot tub and check the fridge.  He said there would be a technician coming to check it, who never showed.  I did message Cory back about this with no response.  The fridge didn't work the entire stay and we had to use the back up in the basement garage which was a huge inconvenience!  By the time the hot tub was drained, cleaned, and refilled we lost a full day and a half of using it during our 4 night stay.  Once we checked out we made sure Cory knew how we felt about our stay, with absolutely no response.  On the other hand, the natural pool was pretty cool and the location and scenery was awesome!  Definitely would like to come back to the area!

Not worth the price per night, there are better options out there. The basement smells terrible like mildew. During our two night stay we killed probably 35 flies and 7 cockroaches. Now we have to be careful we don't take any roaches back into our house =( The hot tub looked a little rough/old with a very nasty filter (no extras around). Our group also rented another cabin along with this one from the same company (Iowa Cabin Rentals) and that cabin's pool and hot tub's water were both green and gross. The hot tubs were a huge draw for this company and they are not maintained well. Quite disappointing! at $295 per night, you can find nicer accommodations.

If you're looking for shabby, rough-hewn accommodations, White Pine Cottage will not disappoint! A recent stay here was eye-opening to the fact that owners/management are not held to the safety standards of other lodging rentals in the State of Iowa or Allamakee County. We arrived after a day long drive to a dark, unlit, unsecured property. We were tired but prepared to invest some time settling in but in no way anticipated what we would find. The handrails to the front entry and decking were dangerously loose. There were NO working smoke detectors, CO2 detector or fire extinguisher. The kitchen drawers and cabinets were in disarray and filthy and the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes. The bed mattresses were covered in stains, the provided bed quilts were soiled and the shower curtains were mildew covered. The condition of the hot-tub was not surprisingly repulsive, even after it was drained and "cleaned". Lighting fixtures throughout the unit were missing light bulbs or were otherwise non-functional. The lower sleeping area had no covers over the electrical outlets or light switches and the evidence of mouse habitation was obvious. Communication with the management and owner was extremely difficult as they only responded to test messages in an area with poor cell-phone service. Pride in ownership and consideration of guest safety is seriously needed!

We were so excited to stay here for a week with our kids and grandkids. The hot tub had a makeshift filter and the cover didn't fit. The water was murky. The natural pool didn't have a working filter either and gave half of us terrible swimmer's itch. The cabin needed maintenance. It was leaking around the fireplace when it rained, there was cobwebs in some of the rooms, the bathrooms had issues with the floor tile by the shower. The downstairs area smelled musty. We were told that our garbage would be picked up, it never was as long as we were there and became very stinky in the garage. The grounds were very unkept, lots of weeds. I realize it was a cabin, but the cost of it did not correspond with the amenities.
