Such a wonderful outfitter, we had a great outing in two of their kayaks over the memorial day weekend. I had done my research, looking for a place to rent two single kayaks, and to get quick access to some nature, and possibly even a few osprey nests.

After a quick call on the phone I had secured two kayaks. Great price and drove up the next morning.

It was a simple process to register, and we were on the water within 15 minutes. They offered us some basic instruction, but as intermediate kayakers, we already knew what to do.

More importantly, they shared a chart of the waterways and asked what we were looking to see and do, and after some quick discussion, we knew exactly where we were going, and that too did not disappoint.

A quick paddle under the bridge got us right into an open channel and then into the marshlands, where we found dozens of osprey nests each with a Family well ensconced.

It was a lovely morning of paddling, and we even caught the tide and the wind on our way back in which was a plus. I highly recommend this outfitter. The kayaks were in great condition. The wife tests were clean and the staff were lovely.

We did the sunset SUP tour and it was phenomenal!! We lucked out with perfect weather and perfect water conditions, and got to make it onto the sandbar at the mouth of the river. Kevin was a super gracious host and definitely knew what he was doing! We had the option (I think because we were a small group) to do either the SUP or the kayak for this sunset tour and still went with the paddle boards. Equipment looks very new, clean, and well-maintained.
We would definitely go back here -- and plan to next summer, if we can't make it back in the fall. They also do a full moon tour which sounds super rad!!

So I am very afraid of water and this being my first time kayaking I chose to tandem kayak with my Honey, the crew guys were very helpful showing us on a map the different routes we could explore. My Auntie was in tow this was all her idea, I was reluctant however it was SO much FUN!!! The weather was gorgeous I will definitely do this again and possibly in a single kayak!!

I had an amazing time out on the water! Nice little beach area up near the sound! Koda loved every minute of it! Would definitely be coming back!

They're wonderful across the board. Fair pricing, great options for rentals, and friendly service. We've only been to the Old Lyme location, but keep coming back because we have the option to choose between going up the Black Hall river out into the salt marsh leading to LI Sound. Both are great experiences with entirely different types of nature and paddling. All in all, a great place!

I recently purchased an old town PDL120 from this BHO and it was smooth from beginning to end. Joe was there to greet me on pickup day and was very knowledgeable. He helped me pick out the accessories I would need to get on the water and be ready for some fishing. After picking out what I needed he went through the install process of my new fish finder and the end result was flawless. Everything was super clean and he was meticulous with the wiring. Before I hit the water Joe gave plenty of tips and tricks for loading, unloading and fishing from the kayak. Can’t say enough about my experience and will definitely be back for upgrades along the way.

Easy online booking and when the out of town family we were renting for had timing issues there was no problem moving back the time slightly.

I went in to hopefully get the pedal drive from my kayak serviced. They couldn't do it there but they were very helpful. They tried to find a shop that could do the work and got me the service contact information for the manufacturer. I really want the Old Town Autopilot 120 they have in the shop.

BH Outfitters was a pleasure! We had to make change to our rez which they accomodated easily - and the guys on the dock were friendly and helpful getting us in our kayaks and on our way! Will definitely rent with them again.

It was our first time kayaking. I went with my husband, 14 yo and 11 yo. I rented 2 tandems. I had a confirmation of our reservation and they could not find it upon arrival. Luckily I just showed them my reservation and didn't have to pay double. They are flexible, courteous and patient. I would try singles next time. It was a great first time experience.

I purchased an old town kayak here and my experience was excellent. It was unwrapped in front of me and the pedal drive was checked to make sure it fit. The guy (sadly I forgot your name you're the man!) Gave me a bunch of tips on fishing, transport, rod selection even showing me some of his own rods. He helped me tie down the kayak to the roof and it held all the way back to Massachusetts. Their tackle shop is great too. They earned a repeat customer here that's for sure!.

Wonderful experience! Rented paddle boards on a beautiful, sunny day -- perfect weather for it. Paddled out to a little island and went swimming. Such a beautiful spot, would highly recommend. Staff was friendly and accommodating, will definitely return!

I rented a paddleboard for 2 hours and had a great time! Online reservation was easy. Once I arrived, the facility was nice, they had a large selection of sizes and instantly knew which was best for me based on my height. The board seemed (to my untrained eye) to be good quality. The staff got me checked in and set up very quickly, they gave me some ideas on where to go, and I was on my way. The location is great. Lots to see right nearby. Will definitely rent from here again.

Booked kayaks for the third or fourth time with Black Hall this past weekend and again had a great experience. The location is perfect. You get a mix of river, saltwater marsh, and ocean. Tons of ospreys, some herons, plenty to look at. Will go again!

Everything is made easy and a first class experience. I made an online reservation. Showed up and in 5 minutes we went from the office to floating on our paddleboards. Staff had everything ready, they were smiling, friendly and very helpful. Parking was easy. Views were gorgeous and little to no motor boat traffic in the marsh. I would highly recommend.

Loved this! Had so much fun kayaking with the family. Prices were fair for the amount of time we rented for (4 hours) and the staff is great! Super friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable of the coves if you need direction once in the water. Will definitely be coming back before the end of the summer. Thanks Black Hall!

First time kayaking and Black Hall Outfitters couldn't have been better. Reasonable prices, friendly service. Very helpful. Had a great time kayaking. Very scenic, almost no boat traffic and great weather. All around good time. Will definitely be back.
