If they don’t, Heather, and trusted wonderful staff is always happy to order. I really appreciate over 30 years of their service. The customer service in this store is outstanding! I don’t know the name of the gal I’ve encountered, but she is extremely helpful! I stopped on my way home from work one day and arrived 10 minutes after they closed. She hadn’t left yet, asked what I wanted, found it for me. I’ve never had that exceptional service anywhere else. Anything I need, I’ll look there first!

First time shopper. I was very impressed with their level of organization. I called before stopping in. They had exactly the random lumber I was looking for to repair some windows on a 1950s house. Every. Last. Piece.

I ended up buying more than l intended, but their prices were about 60% of what a box store would charge - with no headache or "Creative Craftsmanship" involved.

Very happy I decided to make a stop while I was in the area. I'll save more time in the future driving an extra 20 minutes each direction. Seriously well worth the trip, I will continue to support this business whenever possible.

People there are amazingly knowledgable and helpful. I went to buy new plug and wiring for an old lamp and the guy did all the wiring for me- at no charge! And pet department has everything you can imagine. Great place to bring the kids

My local hardware and pretty much "everything else I might need" store! Home town shopping with home town ownership and associates. Extremely pleasant and helpful. Today I went in for Preen - a weed prevention granular treatment from Miracle Grow that actually works! I went to the garden supply section of the store...could not find it. I asked the associate at the checkout area if they carried this product. She smiled and pointed at the top shelf near the store entrance. "Who Knew"? She certainly knew the whereabouts of stocked products. We shared a laugh about this odd location. I left a happy customer. Thank you Shagbark!

Kristen was very helpful in guiding us to the best floor finishing product for our spalted maple flooring. We brought some floor boards so we could try different finishing products and Kristen was helpful with that testing and also added some sanding and finishing tips. Shagbark is your typical rural lumber/hardware store. Friendly, knowledgeable people who just want to help you find what you need...and they probably have it in stock! It's so much better going here than Home Depot...these guys actually want to help!

Very helpful staff (I was asked at least once by each person working there if I needed help) and a huge store that carries pretty much anything you could possibly want from a hardware store.

Greatest store EVER!! They usually have what you're looking for ...better than the small stores ...and FAR more knowledgeable and accessable then the big box stores ...you can't go wrong!

Plus they make Hydraulic hose replacements! I've always enjoyed visiting.

It's ALWAYS a great experience stopping at Shagbark. Knowledgeable people that are always eager to help you, and very RARELY do I NOT find what I'm looking for.
Freddy is always eager to help you, and there's NO hunting for a store employees like the "Big Box Stores" either.
It's also a pleasure frequenting a true "Grain"Store, where you can walk on wooden floors, and smell the animal feed and supplies. Stores like these are QUICKLY disappearing from our country's landscape.

Searching for solutions to several problems, (siding and deck lumber and stain, grout, etc) got great assistance and the right products. People are friendly and knowledgeable. We're lucky to live reasonably close.

Helpful. Prices seem to be competitive with box stores. Not so many drawer knobs or other small items, plumbing. Wood is in outlying buildings so the store itself is compact but stuffed with inventory.

Very helpful and friendly staff. I came in to get some compost items and a gentleman with a grey beard was very helpful in looking up the right supplies. Great customer service.

Shagbark is great, they have everything you need at a reasonable price and high-quality. So glad to have a local hardware store of this caliber.

The place is always stocked. Lumber and trim quality is good.
No Home Cheapo trips that take over an hour of my time.
If you're ever working in East Haddam, don't go to a big box store to save a buck and then spend 30 bucks in gas as well as 100 bucks of your time in the process. Just go to SwagBark (lol, it's a local thing) and go ask one of their many friendly and knowledgeable (let alone, HELPFUL) staff members.
Pretty darn good considering it's in the boonies. When you're working on that side of the river, you're really happy that they're open. Believe me. Everytime I take jobs on that side of the river, they save my a$$.

The owner there is really good. Shagbark is also a true value store. There's an animal feed store as well. It's very convenient for being out in the sticks.
