Excellent service and atmosphere. Pleasant and accommodating staff! Went there with a group of 6 for Mother's Day lunch and we all left happy! (& With roses for the ladies!!!)
Food is pub/tavern sandwiches and burgers and dogs. Everyone loved their meal.

The Rusty Rail is at the top of my favorite places to eat after going there recently. The prices were very reasonable, everything tasted wonderful, and the atmosphere was perfect.

I got the spicy chicken sandwich (I cannot remember the exact name of it) and a margarita. The sandwich was spicy enough to let you know you definitely ordered something spicy but nothing extreme. The amount of sauce on it was perfect to. Its not a sandwich drowing in sauce with a sloppy bun, but there is enough that you get some sauce with every bite.

I'm very excited to go back. The hot dogs look out of this world.

HIGHLY recommend this place for lunch or dinner with kids! It has a casual atmosphere and there were outdoor games to play with. The steam train came right by and the kids were so excited to see it and wave. The food was also delicious! We'll definitely be coming back again!!

A+ on atmosphere! This place is so fun. Staff were all super nice, prompt and accommodating. Drinks were perfect. Food was good. The blackened chicken had great flavor but was too salty for our taste. Loved the band and outdoor seating area. The train going by while we watched the band was so cool! Will definitely be back!

It’s a cozy small place with two storied sittings & large outdoor seatings. A perfect place to drink & hang out with friends. Service is awesome & food is good. We had dinner on Wednesday around 8:30, kitchen close at 8:45. Quesadilla (liked it, not too oily), Bruschetta, Long horn chicken sandwich & Tacos - all items were delicious.

Go! Food and service was great. The atmosphere is right up our alley...rustic charm and laid back. Our group of 7 made advanced reservations (recommend since tables are limited indoors). We were seated early and our waitress was personable and helpful. The cooks and bartenders made drinks/food quickly. Everything was great. The best part was the fire pit in the back...there was a smores and hot chocolate bar set up for the kids. We all had such a great experience and will be back. Thank you!

Ventured to the bar here on a saturday night while I was in town. They had live music playing outside and a patio to eat on. I ate inside at the bar. Its maybe like a 15 person bar. Really cool train nostalgia on the walls. I ordered the Rusty Rail Dogs and a Coors to wash it down. One of the best hot dogs I have had in a while. Layers of sautéed onions and peppers with smoked bacon on top. Crispy onion rings come on the side.

Stopped on a nice Sunday afternoon and sat outside. They had some local live entertainment which was nice. Service and food were great. The old steam train from Essex came by while we were there which was pretty cool. Definitely a great stop to grab a bite if you are out along the river. Highly recommend this place it has been added to our list of favorites.

We went to Rusty Rail around 7 pm, and the place was backed with almost everyone sitting outside enjoying the weather. We chose to eat inside, at the bar. The bartender Brandon was a great bar tender and server. He was able to take control of the very busy atmosphere with a full bar and kept the wait staffs drink order going. Even though they were short staffed, like most places are you couldn't tell. The whole staff seemed to be working together. Now for the food....Oh my, it was extremely delicious, I had one of their delicious hamburgers with sweet potato fries and my husband had the tacos with a side salad. I'm not good at remembering to give reviews, but I set an alarm to be sure I gave the Rusty Rail their's because of how clean, organized the staff were and the amazing food. Thank you for making our long hot day so much better!

Place is always busy but the staff are attentive, cold beer and wide array of foods that are filling and unique without being bohemian.

This is such a great place. Everyone is so welcoming and the food is fantastic. Lisa always has my husband's coffee ready before we even sit down. We never wait more then a few minutes for drinks or our food the kitchen is on there game as are the bartenders. The outside patio is great with fire pits smores during Christmas. Hands down one of the best places to visit in Connecticut 👍

Had a great time. Dined here for lunch with the whole family this past weekend. Food was delicious and well portioned...Teriyaki wing sauce was very tangy and delicious. Loved all the vintage decorations inside. A little on the small side inside, but we were fine. Had a delicious warm apple cider. Outside dining area looks nice for the summertime. Maybe will try next year. Staff was friendly, food was quick, and the bathroom had really good smelling soap!
