Cafe Allegre

What a beautiful restaurant! We arrived just when they opened on a Saturday evening. I had to walk around to explore the many different dining areas. There is one table in front of a fireplace that I thought looked very romantic. Our waiter, Bill, provided impeccable service. He was attentive and friendly and went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable (I was wearing a walking boot due to an ankle injury.) The chairs in the dining room were comfortable and had a nice cushion. The tables were set with a crisp tablecloth, and there seemed to be an endless supply of warm bread on our table. We tried several appetizers, including the stuffed mushrooms and clams casino. I had the halibut for dinner and shared the Lava cake. All were exquisitely prepared and delicious. Looking forward to coming back to Cafe Allegra.

Visited here last night for a private event with a prix fixe menu. We were pleased with the variety of options, and everything we had was delicious. The New York Style calamari was really flavorful and had just the right amount of spice, and the steak was cooked perfectly to everyone’s liking. I thought that the deconstructed banana split was a really unique dessert, and I really enjoyed it! It features Doughwich’s ice cream sandwich and is a great way to support a local business. I hope to come back here soon and try more items from their menu!

So far the best restaurant in Madison, CT and nearby towns starting from fantastic service, food and seating.

We had an early dinner, it was not crowded, had a nice table outside, very good atmosphere.The food was delicious. We ordered garlic bread, eggplant rollatini (5stars for this appetizer), arugula beet salad with goat cheese from the specials (amazing) and penne ala vodka.
For dessert chocolate lava cake and afogato. Bellissima!

Service was superb, our waiter Willmar was great, attentive and friendly.

This restaurant is top-notch in all respects. A must to visit when in Madison or nearby. Family members of mine have also attended numerous functions at this restaurant and again, exceptional service. Chef Silvio's family has done a great job continuing his legacy by retaining his recipes and high standards of service.

A decadent restaurant that does not fall short in any of the categories. The food stimulates the palet and transcends you to another world. The sauce reminded me of being back in grandma's kitchen, who was born and raised in Italy. The atmosphere and price point deserves higher admiration then a mere 5 stars. I have never recommended a restaurant as highly as I do for Cafe Allegre, but don't just take my word for it, prove me wrong.

Food is excellent; servers are pleasant, friendly and efficient; they know the specials to detail and don't rush you. You can relax without guilt. Can get a bit noisy by the bar, but...to be expected if you're near it! Comfortable atmosphere.

I looooove Cafe Allegre, and I can't believe I'm only now writing a review. We enjoyed their takeout during the shutdown often. Their chicken parm is the best comfort food in the entire world. I can also attest to the eggplant parm and the stuffed mushrooms. I have a hard time ordering anything else, but I'm sure it's just as good. I look forward to dining in soon.

Wonderful dinner and great service. Salmon, Tilapia and great appetizers. Highly recommend.

My wife and I really enjoyed our dining experience here. The food is always excellent and consistent. The service was good and the drinks were also very good. My wife’s chocolate martini was delicious. Would we visit again? YES! I just wish we lived closer. Looking forward to next time.

Absolutely fabulous veal parmigan meal. The service was exceptional. I look forward to dining there again and trying another entre.

Delicious food in an elegant atmosphere with attentive staff. The menu is Italian with a wide variety of appetizers, salads, pasta dishes, main courses, and desserts.

Very cozy ,in atmosphere and people working here are very pleasant. The food is delicious every meal I've had,from salmon, to salads ,pasta,calamari yummo . You wont be disappointed !

I enjoyed a wonderful evening of food and fellowship at Cafe Allegre. As a visitor from the Midwest, I was lucky to have my first dining experience here with some local business associates who provided excellent recommendations. Mussels Siciliana was a wonderful beginning. I could have easily made this my meal with a side of pasta. I followed up with a rich French Onion Soup - a special offering on the night of my visit. Others in the party delighted in the Artichoke Hearts Milanese. My main entree was Chicken Siciliana which included sauteed chicken breast in a spicy white wine sauce with gnocchi. Quite delicious.

Although at this point I had eaten plenty, I could not say no to desert. At the suggestion of our host, I ordered a specialty of the house - a Tartufo, I believe, with vanilla and chocolate gelato formed in a ball around a cherry and then covered with hardened dark chocolate and served with whipped cream. What a great way to end the meal.

The food was amazing! Did attend on Mother's Day so it was busy and crowded but it cleared out as the night died down and service was good. Would have been an overall more pleasant experience if it was a quieter atmosphere but I figure it normally is when not a holiday.
But once again the food was top notch everyone in my party really enjoyed their meal.

The food was delicious, the service was on point and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Great selection. And finished the meal off with this tasty rice pudding.

Great experience during holiday season! 5 of us and each meal was great, especially my tilapia, which had wonderful layers of tastes, entree portions were large with several of us taking doggy bags. Staff very friendly and efficient. Only side note is some of the appetizers, while delicious, we're smaller portions so ask when ordering if sharing. Little pricey but worth it.

We hosted a birthday party for my daughter at the restaurant and everything was fabulous! Jennifer did a wonderful job coordinating and answering questions prior to the event. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly.
We recommend any seafood dishes, the mussels siciliano appetizer has a perfect amount of spice and the broth is great for dipping bread. The swordfish special with cherry tomatoes and Kalamata olives was so flavorful and you simply can not compare the capellini telefono, they pile the lobster meat with a delectable cream sauce, simply outstanding. We are in Madison during the summer months and often go to Cafe Allegre for meals or to grab a drink and appetizer at the bar. Wonderful food and atmosphere.
