Nice afternoon at the nature center. Creative enough to capture the attention of our four year old; thoughtful exhibits on the area's natural history that got us interested, too. After the exhibits we enjoyed a cool guided tour of mushrooms along one of their several well-kept trails.

The nature center is a great place to learn more about wildlife, habitats and the natural world. They have numerous informative displays, animals to see inside, as well as outside in the birds of prey cages, they have several nature trails (ranging from short to long, easy to follow and mostly easy terrain with a couple you might put in a more moderate category) they also have several events throughout the year and summer programs to check out. The nature center is also does wildlife rehabilitation so you'll also be able to learn about that. I have been lucky enough to have started at the nature center as a young child going to the summer programs and working my way up to when I was older volunteering at the nature center. I highly recommend the nature center for everyone who wants to learn and explore the natural world.

We went there to celebrate a birthday party, kids had a lot of fun, they got to touch a bunny and a snake. They had a guided hike in the woods, crossed a couple bridges, saw a waterfall and many hummingbirds. The guide moved some logs so kids could see worms and little bugs. They also learned awesome things about animals and nature. Finally they visited the museum and the gift store. I will definitely recommend this place.

My 3-year-old and I visited for their egg-themed scavenger hunt. It was the perfect way to spend a beautiful spring day. The scavenger hunt took us on a short trail, maybe about 1 mile. The terrain was doable for a pre-schooler - pretty much flat, but with lots of branches and rocks to look out for. There are more difficult and longer trails for the more adventurous. We saw small waterfalls, streams, bridges, all very interesting to my daughter. Inside they had crafts and small animals (snakes, turtles, geckos, bullfrogs, etc). Also a small gift shop where we received a prize for completing the scavenger hunt and picked up a couple of souvenirs. It was such a wonderful day and now my daughter is asking when we can go hiking again.

All sizes of children will love this place. It's small enough to investigate thoroughly and interesting enough, with lots of taxidermied animals, to hold their attention. Mine especially love their nature-oriented Halloween festival. There are nature activities and crafts for them to choose from, such as making paint prints of leaves. Then there's the highlight, a walk through the woods to meet and talk to adults dressed up as various woodland creatures. We've also participated in other events here such as a great vernal pool night walk with Jay.

We had my daughter Logan’s birthday party there and it was amazing! The children had such a great time and learned so much about the animals and they loved the nature walk/hike! Logan had so much fun choosing the animals for the demonstration.
Jay is wonderful and so knowledgeable! Thank you again to Jay and the entire staff !! Highly recommend!

This place is absolutely the best for introducing your young child to the wonderful thing that go on in nature all around us. There are free trails behind the building, and the museum, while small is very good. A small gift shop is on site too. Great for birthday parties too!

Knowledgeable staff and beautiful grounds! I love that it is connected to The Children's museum. It is a gem of the area. Great hiking trails with nature signs to teach your child while moving your body

Wow what a cool place.!! Took a small drive to check out the new area and found this place.. soOo cool.. we paid 8$ to get in and they have some great educational display of local animals and birds. With nearly all of them having a "taxidermied" (stuffed) animal in the display that looks very professional.. although, some look more weathered than others but well done.. Aaand.. they rehabilitate injured birds and other animals as well, all from local rescues, and or given to the Roaring Brook..
Well..
Check this place out.. bring the kids. Ohhh and there's trails.!!!
great place for the kids.. awesome learning Op..

We love this nature center. The programs are great and entertaining for a 5 year old and an 8 year old. The hiking trails are nice. There is a good variety of challenging and easy depending on your mood, or who is going on the hike. Their website is always updated with current programs.

Great family, kid fun. Lot's of animals to see, friendly staff and volunteers helping explain and guide on the trails. Beautiful enclosures for the raptors and owls. Window to observe treatment room for injured animals was really cool.
