Stew Leonard's Wines & Spirits of Newington

Think of it as a theme park but for groceries. Great for entertainment, a little pricey, but a heapton of options. If you don't like the feeling of being crowded, this may not be for you. Definitely worth at least one visit!

My first time at stews. Heard a lot of good things about it. Went for the tenderloin. The untrimmed version on sale for 13.99 a pound, was really fatty and half would have ended up as stew meat. The trimmed version on sale for 18.99 a pound. Didn't really look any different to me. I actually thought someone put it in the wrong bin, but they had two different prices on them. Decided to go to the butcher counter to see the "cut and clean" filet steaks. Which looked perfect, but we're 39.99 a pound. It was 12/17 so it was close to Christmas but it reminded me of the elbow to elbow days at the big E. So many people you couldn't look at anything. I came back to my home town Big Y, bought a much better looking filet for 21.99 a pound. I would like to give them another try, but the first trip was so disappointing, and it's a 30 minute drive... Not sure I will go back.
