I cannot thank Mark Holmes of Samsel and Carmen Funeral Home enough for his kindness, compassion, and ability to make my family and I feel as though we were the only clients dealing with a major loss in the family. Through communication at all hours to Kelly in the office nothing was left to chance. Going above and beyond was common practice for Mark and Kelly. I would highly recommend their level of expertise, honesty, and proven ability to help you navigate the excruciatingly painful aftermath of death. Due to their willingness to go at my pace I was able to make meaningful decisions in a timely manner. Thank you again Mark, Kelly, and the men who opened doors, took coats, smiled, held hands, and provided tissues when needed. Outstanding staff for this military burial! The website has 365 Days-my daily read. God’s peace to all of you.

I can't say enough about Jason Jamrog and the entire staff at
Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home. In 2019 and 2020 our family had to use the funeral home services for two family friends wake and burial. Their professional service and kind disposition made a very hard situation much easier. Every part of those days ran seamlessly and took much stress off our family. John Carmon and his family have built a well respected business that cares about its staff and the families they serve.
The Shea Family appreciates all that Samsel & Carmon does for families during difficult times and all they do in the community as well.
Thank you!!!! Margaret M. Shea

I can not say enough about Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home. Mark took care of us every step of the way. The breath of his expertise and compasionate understanding was so greatly appreciated by my sister and I. He patiently answered all of our questions and helped us achieve a memorable service that was fitting for our father. Thank you!

Jason and his team did an amazing job coordinating the celebration of my brother in law's life. The attention to detail, discrete helpful communication during the service, and respect he showed my brother in law and his family was so comforting.

From a business perspective, his service list is plentiful, payment systems are simple and effective, and his and his teams professionalism and job knowledge is fantastic.

Thank you Jason for your care taking and exacting attention to detail.

The staff at Samsel & Carmon is compassionate and highly professional. In January of 2020 when my father died, Jason Jamrog assisted us in preparing for his service. After listening to our requests, he provided us with multiple choices so we could choose the option that best suited our needs. The attendant who picked up my father's body was respectful and showed understanding of my mother's sorrow by placing a blue knitted blanket over Dad's body before he was wheeled out of the room. In the days leading up to the service Jason checked with us to see if there was anything we needed and checked with us again during the service to see if we were satisfied. The service went as planned and as my mom said, "Your father would be proud.." Their actions were comforting during a very difficult time.

Fast forward to October of 2020 when my mother died. Due to Covid restrictions the type of service we had in January needed to be different. Extra precautions were used to ensure the safety of everyone, but the compassion and professionalism were still there. Hand sanitizers and social distancing protocol were in place and the service was live-steamed for those who were unable to attend due to travel or health concerns. All those who attended and those who watched from home were able to comfortably pay their respects. Mom's service was just as she wanted it to be, and the same caring was shown to the family.

We highly recommend Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home.

During a very difficult time in our family's life, we worked Mark Holmes and others at Samsel & Carmon in South Windsor. Honestly, I can't think of anything they could have done better. With no experience of having a loved one pass and being responsible for all of the arrangements Mark made sure Everything went very smoothly, covering every detail, explaining all of the options, welcoming each and every question (and follow up questions). True professional. Thank you.

We worked with Brian Bentley for both of our parent's funerals in the past 2 years. We can't say enough good things about him. He is a wonderful, caring, compassionate person who helped us through this difficult process. He was always available when we called and made our entire family feel as if we were the only clients he had. We even had moments of laughter during this process which certainly helped. Brian has a wonderful sense of tasteful humor. We cannot express enough our thanks and appreciation to Brian Bentley and Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home for helping us to create a beautiful celebration of their lives and memorable send off for each of our parents.

Recently our beautiful daughter passed away. This was an unexpected and sorrowful event for which we were totally unprepared. The entire staff at Samsel & Carmon were very respectful and gently guided us thru the process of making the decisions necessary to take care of our daughter's remains. Not only were they helpful but they allowed us the time to 'sleep on it' for the more difficult decisions. The ceremony and presentation of our daughter was just as we directed and more than we had hoped.

I am writing this review for others that may get caught in this terrible situation. If you find yourself not knowing what to do, I very highly recommend Samsel & Carmen of South Windsor to guide you this part of the journey.

Mark Holmes recently helped us through a very difficult time. Our son passed away unexpectedly. We live out of state. When we called on Mark, he guided us through the whole process without a hitch. He took care of all details with knowledge and expertise. To anyone in need , I recommend this establishment, and ask for Mark.

They helped us with both my grandma and my uncle Steven. Nice place. Free water. Not very sanitary though. There was a dead body in the same room both times!

I attended calling hours on an extremely hot and humid day this week. We arrived at 4:05 pm for a 4:00 - 7:00 viewing. It was already very warm and uncomfortable inside. I realize it's very difficult to keep things cool inside when a door is continually opened but if it had started out already cool inside things may have gone better. The family of the deceased was already so hot and uncomfortable I can't imagine how things were as the evening progressed. It seems if you are in this business and know it's going to be a very hot day, this could be handled better. No one seemed to know how to handle keeping the line wrapped around inside the lobby so more people could be out of the heat either. When we arrived we had to depend on other people attending to know where the end of the line was, it was very chaotic.
