Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. These folks are short staffed, so be understanding. Thanks again for all the help you provided.

Advice to everyone: try contacting the town clerk in your actual town of birth. It worked for me!
After submitting request through VitalChek, I called this state records office for an update. I was told they were three months behind and the best they could do was put me on the "rush" list, which would still be 3-4 weeks. I mean no disrespect to the employees here. The person I spoke to was kind and sympathetic, but their solution would not help me.
I called the Winchester town clerk and got my birth certificate in a week. Now pursuing getting a refund from VitalChek. TBD...
UPDATE: I was refunded without any issue and the person I spoke to was very helpful. Thank you! I added two stars to my review because of this.

Sent my information along w/a check approx March 15. Still have not received my birth certificate. How long is the wait?

It's now 07 Aug and no cert. All call go to a robot. 0/10 now I think vital records is a scam.

I sent off an application and check 1 year ago to receive my birth certificate/ 3 months went by nothing … I went through vital check 6 months go by nothing … in November sent two applications and check and still nothing I've spent 160$ in fees to get ONE birth certificate and to top it off I've spoken to every records office in the state trying to get help.... NOTHING. its like they just don't want you to be able to travel or get an ID . like that want to make sure you cant prove your identity .

To date I have not received my moms death certificate. I sent a postal (per their form) money order and just feel completely deflated. Naturally you are not able to speak to anyone via phone.

Ordered a duplicate Birth Certificate two months ago. Forced to use Vitalcheck. Now Vitalcheck tell me that Connecticut are many months behind in processing these requests. They suggest I call Connecticut directly and complain. What a useless bunch of clerical nonentities working for an equally useless combination of Vitalcheck and Connecticut department of records. If they are paid minimum wage, they are grossly overpaid.

Paid 70 for my birth certificate for fast efficient service now done waited 2 1/2 months for something to be shipped overnight next day delivery and yeah just got shipped soooo NEVER USE VITAL CHECK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They dont do anything they will put ur life on hold and no nothing about it

I've been waiting for my relative's CT death certificate for 10 weeks (2.5 months) and when it arrived, it looked like a joke: plain letter-size piece of paper, vack scan-copy like data, blurry CT seal, and embosser. No watermarks, no "STATE OF CONNECTICUT", nothing. Like a joke.
My other relative died in Florida. Their processing time to obtain a death record duplicate is 3 weeks, certificate is on thick blank, watermarks, nice frame, 2 seals, all legit.

My mother and I both sent off our request for our birth certificates at the same time. The requests were sent from Atlanta Georgia. My mother’s went to Bristol Connecticut and mines to Hartford! We called to follow up on the request to make sure they was received and my mother was told that they had received her request and her form was mailed out on the 19th! She then followed up on my request and the rude as representative tells her that they were busy and would need to return her call!! So I called about an hour later and before I could get everything out my mouth she proceeded to tell me that she’s going through the mail now instead of checking the system to see if it has already been logged in!!! No question or help!! Just I’m trying to go through the mail now!!! In 2019 there must be a better way!!!

After 5 weeks waiting for my own Birth Certificate, and verifying that the Postal Money Order not cashed, I tracked down a live person who could verify that DOH rec'd my request. Was advised it takes twelve (12) weeks to process. That's right, twelve weeks!

Ordered my birth certificate online and paid online, about $40. Around 5 days later I received an email from them saying that I have to send an additional $30 by money order and 2 forms of ID. The whole time I was waiting for it so I could renew my liscense. I have no idea why I would have to pay additional money and still don’t because of how short there hours are. The least they could have done was explain what the extra $30 was for. Very shady

The workers that are in this office are not doing their job the time it takes to receive your birth certificate takes 12 months after ordering it, in other states you received them within 5 to 10 business days tops, this is rediculas this place really needs new staff, because apparently the ones that are currently employed here isn't doing anything.

How do you get to talk to someone if you are out of state and disabled and bed bound. I have questions because of adoption and need help. Now what? Have not had a birth certificate in over 30 years. Recently while in the hospital my wallet was stolen now I am left with no form of legal I'd. You need one to get the other and so on. How do I find a live person for assistance in this uncomminitive world we now reside in. How sad.
