Farmers Market at Billings Forge

I love this Farmers Market! It is open year round from 11am until 2pm every Thursday and held in the art studio in the winter months. They have not just fresh fruits and veggies, but fresh-from-the-farm milk, eggs and meat too. They also have homemade breads and pastries and raw honey. From April until November there are great food trucks on the street, including G-Monkey Mobile, an award winning vegan food truck. If you are a SNAP recipient, they double your SNAP dollars. All of the vendors and the shoppers here are so friendly and because it is right near the State Capitol building, you may even run into one of your favorite politicians here. There is plenty of room to sit and eat lunch and make new friends.

The largest farmer's market in Hartford, and possibly the surrounding area.

They even continue after the growing season ends, moving indoors to an adjoining space (next to the parking lot, but please check Facebook for updates).

Great selection during the growing season, including conventional and organic produce, breads, fresh free-range eggs, cheeses, hot sauces, Italian ice, and other items.

The organic produce is clearly organic as labeled, because it doesn't look "too perfect" like sprayed and dyed produce does. There is a small parking lot and also on-street parking.

I didn't have any cash, when you check in you can buy wooden Dollar Store wooden $5 with a credit card I bought $30 worth then you use those as currency for your shopping experience in the vendors give you even more of that is changed or real cash and coin exchange. You also get a shopping bag and a punch card and when you go to so many farmers markets there and get so many holes punched you get $5 free and I think it's only 7 visits. The food was very very good I got some beautiful shivery that was local, I got some sprouted sunflower seeds, I got a bunch of beautiful produce corn squash tomatoes broccoli greens very happy with the purchase and it was a fun experience. I love their fresh veggies & Fruits also tgey grow there own at this location with the community garden they offer to residents to take care of themselves and also sale this is a awesome community
