The Barrel

Was driving down the highway and wanted to stop somewhere besides a chain restaurant. Ended up being a great choice. Easy access off the highway . The food Was great. seemed like real cooked at home food . Not some frozen chain restaurant stuff. Decent prices. Good choice for someone who wants to take a break from driving and stop for a sit down meal. We got ribs and a berger. I wish I lived closer to try the rest of the menu.

We stopped here on our trip to Scranton. It was an excellent choice for us. They have a great variety of standard diner Fair, with some healthy and flavorful options to boot.

We were served by the owner, a kind, kind and courteous woman.

And If you're driving to Scranton and this is a much more interesting approach than the highway.

Amazing food! My daughter and I had the chicken and biscuits with gravy and mashed potatoes. Large portions, very filling and delicious! Carol was wonderful and I will be going back!!! I highly recommend The Barrel !

Everything has been delicious and reasonable priced ...we live near the barrel for over 20 hrs yet not ever ate there now we order take out at least 4 times a day
From soups to salads delicious burgers sandwiches plus great breakfast choices to much to mention, leave room for Dana's homemade pies & cakes

Helpful waitstaff, friendly service, and tasty comfort food. The Reuben sandwich, French dip sandwich, coffee, and french fries were very good. Stick with the classics or ask your waitress for suggestions and you should do ok.

Kind of a typical "Greasy Spoon" in appearance, but with delicious, reasonably priced meals, outstanding service, and the best 10 for $20 texas weiners you can find. They put Coney Island in Scranton to shame. Love the place.

Coffee served in large mugs with plenty of refills. Great breakfast specials. No frills atmosphere.

I had the Gyro Burger, and it was great! The coleslaw was very tasty too.

Great Food, Great Prices. But we needed a place for a small celebration/presentation - Dana was able to set us up with the back room. We had the few minutes of privacy we wanted, then we ate like kings & queens. Our group was aged from 2 to 88 - everyone was very happy. The staff was super accommodating, and of course the food was fantastic. It's not super fancy, but I've been to many venues not as nice. For a small group, you won't find a better place. PS: Visit the gift cupboard - they have the coolest coffee mugs - we bought two.

My dad and his co-workers go there almost every Friday. I have been going all summer on the weekends for breakfast or maybe during the week for a snack or dinner. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. Waitresses are always on top of everything. I usually have special request when I go in an the cooks f they can always accommodate the. I can't wait for my next trip back.

Kids finished their entire plates and asked for more food. Great service, didn’t wait long to take drink orders, food orders or serve food. We will be back!

I used to go here all the time when I lived close years ago and I always stop when I'm in the area excellent food, people and not hard on the wallet. Would recommend.
