Julie makes staying at The Plantation Bed and Breakfast such a wonderful experience. I love how each room has a special theme and her breakfasts are simply amazing. It’s a great place to stay for a quiet and relaxing getaway.

My wife and I stayed here recently with family for a family event. My mom recommended the Plantation B&B because it's her go-to spot when she's in town visiting family.

The facility itself is older and exudes lots of charm. Each room is uniquely themed and has its own character. The price is just right and was cheaper than some of the nearby hotels that only offer a more sterile "hotel" experience.

The B&B is conveniently located on the outskirts of Punxsutawney -- only a short drive to downtown, Gobbler's Knob, and other local attractions.

Julie, the owner, is a delightful person. She was always very friendly and accommodating.

I highly recommend staying here. This is definitely going to be where I stay the next time I'm in town.

I love staying here each time I visit Punxsy. Each room is authentically and tastefully decorated according to its theme. The beds are super comfy, and the heater in each room keeps the room very comfortable. We enjoy using the common areas (the living room has a fire in the fireplace with couches so I can sit and read or entertain guests; I especially love the veranda where we sit and enjoy the gardens and fresh air). the owner, Julie, is a wonderful hostess, always ready to help us with any questions we may have, suggestions for restaurants or activities, and to share stories and laughs (she's available but not intrusive). Bottom line - its a beautiful, unique, historic place to stay the next time you visit the area, or are just passing through.

The best place to stay in the area! Quiet with lovely grounds and plenty of eye candy. The Groundhog Suite is spacious and comfortable, and the proprietor couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. Every time I walk through the door the scent instantly relaxes me. Highly recommend!

If we could give more than 5 stars we would. Julie our host was magical. Everything was at the ready and the decor is spectacular. We really enjoyed sitting on the veranda with a fire going in the fire place. It is a perfect location for a group of up to 7 couples in the main house which has private bathrooms for each of the 7 rooms. Breakfast was excellent and Julie was very accommodating. If you plan to stay in Punxsutawney area this is the go-to location.

We stayed at the Plantation last weekend--my siblings and I booked every room in the B&B. We had a WONDERFUL time there. The Plantation has a lovely setting with many places indoors and outdoors for people to relax and visit. Julie was a terrific host, and all the rooms were comfortable. Highly recommend!

This is my third time staying here. I wish I could give more than five stars! The Plantation is one of those places that is truly a little slice of heaven. The rooms are so comfortable and each is uniquely designed. Julie is a gem and a wonderful host. I look forward to many more visits in the years to come.

We "discovered" The Plantation by accident last Thanksgiving, We exchanged pleasantries and reservations by text and Julie was more than accommodating when we arrived late that night she gave us the "Ground Hog Suite" at no extra charge! Julie was wonderful and so very helpful to us, breakfast was absolutely delicious and the Victorian touches added a bit of yesteryear and somehow made us feel tranquil! Since that night last year we have stayed there twice more and now we consider stopping there whenever we travel to the east coast. I have read a couple of negative reviews here and I can only say that they must have meant another bed and breakfast!

We've been making the trek to Punxsy for Groundhog Day for the past 6 years. Yes, we love the events and Phil, yet the reason we go back is for the Plantation. It's charming and filled with such a warm feeling. The main sitting area is a place to connect with new friends, or read a book by the fire. Julie is the perfect balance of host (responding to needs and requests) and friend (sharing a laugh, and checking in on us). She gives her guests space so they can unplug as they prefer, yet is always just a bell away. The beds are comfy, and each room has its own character.
The natural gas heaters in the rooms can be a little scary at first - there's a visible flame- yet they are safe and incredibly effective :)

It's slightly removed from the town, yet quite close to Gobbler's Knob, which gives it a more exclusive feel that being right in the middle of it.

A great little retreat any time of the year.

Julie was super accommodating, the house is amazing with private baths IN EACH ROOM. Fresh coffee available 24/7 with tons of variety. My only disappointment is I didn't get to stay longer. Thanks again Julie.

I should start by saying that the most famous thing in Punxsutawney, PA should be the Plantation B&B, and the wonderful owner Julie. Phil is cute but this place is BEAUTIFUL! My husband had stayed before a couple months back for work and he really enjoyed the B&B and the comfortable stay and privacy of the entire place. So when he had to go back for work a few weeks ago I decided to go with him and we stayed in the lodge below the big house. Wow, I was just blown away from the moment I got there. The area is like a step back in time, and I mean that in the most wonderful way, I absolutely loved the amish country sides and all the very polite and sincere people. I did get to tour every room in the B&B and Julie explained how she transformed and saved the old house and I was just in awe of her hard work and dedication to the place. Every room is just beautiful and has ever accommodation that you could ever need. The Lodge is just what I was looking for in that week and was so private and cozy. We loved the rustic features and this was just our style. I can't imagine that anyone would want to stay in a hotel given the option to stay in either of these places. Julie made us feel so comfortable and was there to answer questions I had about the area. My dog and I took long walks on the beautiful property and spent a lot of time in the field behind the B&B. It was a wonderful 4 days and 4 nights and I could have stayed another week. I can't wait to go back again and hope that I get to see Plantation B&B during the Summer months. Julia was working in the garden a lot and I know it has to be just stunning in the Summer. If you have a chance to stay at either of her places don't pass it up. You won't regret it!

Short version:
This is the best place I have ever stayed.
It's so clean, you're going to wonder how they do it. This is what is right with the world.

Long version:

Wow! What to say about this place..

This experience was like therapy for me. No kidding. Doctors should write a Rx for people to come here.

It's not a place to stay, it's an experience.

If you've worked hard for your money and value your quality of life, you do NOT want to miss this.

It reminds me of a sign I once read "Fast food isn't good. Good food isn't fast. McDonald's 4 blocks South." Ha ha!

Room themes:

Making my choice:
I was traveling in from out of town to see friends, but needed a comfortable place to stay. I looked at all of the competition, to compare prices and accommodations. This is middle of the road or better, price wise, for the area.

About my stay:
It was as though I had stepped back through time. I always imagined being somewhere like this, I just never knew I would actually find it

Right away, you see the antiquity and   craftsmanship of the mid 18th century architecture

The innkeeper, with her English accent, was very courteous during check-in, and showed me to my quarters

I stayed in the Colonial American room which is only steps away from the common area on the first level

After that, I had the place to myself to wander around and make myself comfortable

Originally built as a plantation farm, it was established in 1837. That must have been one big wealthy family, because this place is huge and lavish to be that old.

It has hard wood flooring throughout. The stairs are amazing. They are very gradual and there is a continuous thick wooden banister that guides you all the way to the top. With all the decorations along the way, it's a pleasure to walk them to the second floor for coffee or snacks, or to the third floor to see the library nook

The open living room was so relaxing to just sink into the big cushy couches beside the fireplace, and look around at all the antique solid wood furnishings and mirrors of times past. The ambient heat warmed my bones, and the ambiance of the decor reminded me of growing up on the farm

The Plantation bed and breakfast knocks it out of the park

Since I cannot take the Plantation everywhere I go, I'm just going to have to come back here as often as I can

Thanks for reading

Plantation B&B has so much charm. It brought me back to wonderful memories of my childhood. From the friendly warm and inviting reception you receive from the owner, Julie. To amazing breakfast each day.
Stayed her on a girl's trip for Groundhog Day 2024. My friend had stayed here previously. She raved about it. Definitely didn't do the place justice in her discussions. Each guest room are very uniquely designed. Beds are comfortable. Private bathrooms. Own heating units in each room. Common room is warm & inviting; with a lit fireplace.
Met many new friends over the weekend. Apparently alot of them keep returning yearly. That says alot about the B&B and owner. I will definitely return to this beautiful B&B.
