Atkins Music Center

For the last 4 years I have been going to piano lessons taught by Josh at Atkins. Josh is a really cool guy and even better teacher. He is great with the other kids too. He always takes the time to make sure we play right, and understand why we do that way. He teaches from one main set of books, however does include other books to practice and play from. I find this way of teaching works great for me and many others. He knows a ton about what seems like every musician ever. Actually, he’s very knowledgeable in every aspect of music. He understands and teaches everything about the piano. I’ve learned so much from Josh and will always appreciate taking lessons from him.

Denise keeps the store clean and well-stocked. There are always snacks and coffee out for customers, which many love. She is the sweetest lady you’ve ever met. She’s always so happy to help and figure out any problems you might have.

I HIGHLY recommend taking lessons from Josh, or any other of the teachers at Atkins. Denise only picks the best for her business.

I can’t say enough great things about Atkins Music Center. We just moved into town and I have been looking for a place to take my son for trumpet lessons. I started asking around and this is the place that was recommended to me. The first time I call, Denise answers the phone and finds times that will work for my son. She explains how classes work, who my son will be working with and gets us situated for two weeks out. Dane, my sons instructor, is extremely warm, intelligent, and works along side my son very well. He takes special care in how he instructs his students. We are so thankful for Atkins!!

I’ve been going to Atkins music for years now. I have taken both piano and fiddle lessons off the instructors there. The teachers are hardworking, patient and funny. Piano at Atkins is taught as traditional classical instruction with books and a metronome (my bane lol). It requires hard work and lots of practice but it is also a lot of fun. My teacher is very encouraging and we have a great time during lessons. He also holds me accountable and knows when I don’t practice. It was intimidating starting music as an adult student. I never thought I could learn an instrument but the instructor assured me that I wasn’t the oldest student they teach and anyone the puts in the time can learn. It can be frustrating when we get into harder lessons but you have to dig deep and push through. With dedication you will come out on the other side and when you finally get the piece down it’s such a rewarding feeling.

The owner is very friendly and talks to everyone because she has know most parents for years as they took lessons when they themselves were kids. The prices are fair and are on par with other studios that I have inquired on. I chose Atkins because of word of mouth, It has been a Connellsville staple for multiple generations.

I would recommend anyone to go here. I’ve talked to other music stores and was rushed to get off the phone. Called Atkins. And I asked if they had a certain instrument and the lady was very polite and got all the info she needed she explained the instrument and rental agreement in full detail. I knew the cost and rental procedure. And before ending the call she made sure all my questions were answered. The whole experience was phenomenal. This business does great work. A++++

Professional and warm environment. I am so happy we went with Atkins for my son's guitar lessons. Ray is fantastic and all the instructors are friendly. Denise, the owner, is so friendly and bends over backwards to help make a schedule that works for you and to take care of your musical needs. I recommend this music center for adult or child lessons.

Only place to go for help needed with instruments. They are very knowledgeable, and their prices are reasonable. They fixed my daughters clarinet, and deep cleaned it. It was done quick and efficiently. Competitive pricing, knowledgeable staff, and extremely friendly service.

I use to frequent Atkins Music store back in the late 70's, 80's and 90's...for 45's and some albums. I always notice once inside the store I could smell the age from the old records of course it was the oxidation smell but it was a great feeling. If they didn't have my record at the time no problem on ordering it. It would be there in the next couple of days. I truly love this place however it's been sometime now since I've visited the record shop. Maybe soon again, but am sure they no longer carry 45's, maybe they can still get them. What a great experience and great place!!!

Denise has been with the store since she was a teenager. Eventually, bought the place. Guitars and all instruments. Music lessons. All of this a nice friendly and knowledgeable service.

This store has all your music needs. A certified Washburn dealer the store offers a large variety of guitars and banjos. They also sell other various string instruments. If there is a piece of sheet music in existence, it can be ordered for you. They also offer an instrument rental program through another company.

Wide variety of instruments and books. Lessons for almost every instrument. Denise is a sweetheart and Mr Shultz is an excellent teacher.

Always a great atmosphere, with no high pressure sales gimmicks.. great for piano & most string instrument lessons of all levels and ability, from novice to very advanced.

Fantastic place. Been a customer ever since I was a kid. Excellent for renting instruments. I would recommend Atkins to anybody.
