Great place to get a smog test in Benicia. Very convenient, fast, and a nice couple runs it. Was $66 for our test and certificate for a regular passenger car.

In and out in literally 10 minutes, dropped in just to see how long the wait was, only had 1 car " just finishing up" then did my vehicle in less than 10 minutes, while I walked next door & got a couple of taco's off the truck there. Decent price I think I paid $66 for my 2013 Honda Accord. For my needs was easiest,closest, quickest, way to get what I needed to get my 2023 registration completed fast.

Great local shop. They did a great job smog testing my Boxster. I will definitely take my other cars here when they need testing.

My experience was great! I called around and they had the best price. There was no wait to get my car in, and I only had to hang out for about 10 minutes for the job to get done. The gentleman who greeted us and did the smog was very friendly. I'll use this smog station in the future for sure.

Needed a Star Smog Check Certification, and was trying to find one nearby. Decided to go during my lunch, and I was out within 15-20 minutes. The owner was very friendly and took my car in right away. Price was reasonable too. Would definitely recommend.

Walked in, no wait, no hassle, done in no time. STAR smog station.

After sitting for 18 months in my garage and not used its battery was dead but I replaced it and due to a job change needed to get it registered. Took it to a different place and was told that it didn't pass due to sensors not working a "drive cycle" issue. Never heard of that and when asked how to fix, guy didn't know. After going online and getting 10 different ways to fix I tried the most plausible and took it to Preferred but still didn't pass but then the owner asked what I tried. When told he asked if I tried it with 3/4 of a tank of gas I said no never saw that one online. So redid the fix again with 3/4 tank and came back to Preferred and it passed 100%!
Point of long story?
Not only owner was professional, nice and courteous but he actually knows what he's doing!
No shoulder shrug w/ eyes rolling and blank "it's your problem, figure it out" stare. If I could go more than 5 stars I'd give him 100 plus! I won't go anywhere else (and no I'm not a relative of his)!

Fair price and fast service. I asked if they would match a price I obtain from another smog check only near work, in Berkeley, and they did. It's nice for me to give business to the community where I live and that is family owned. I like this place.
