Fish porridge here is the best. I have tried many other places’ fish porridge, nowhere this delicious.
The price here is very reasonable too! I love the seafood rice, the bak choy in there fresh and yummy!

The ambiance and environment is unassuming, but don't let it fool you.

This place serves a spectacular Long Cha Ca Thanh Long. You'll be hard pressed to find anything like this in the East Coast, and have only been able to find this in the West Coast. This BBQ fish dish is sure to please with it's sizzling flavors and topping for herbs and onion, served with it's bed of lettuces and mint / sesame leaves and onion. A must try w ur visit.

The congee here is reminiscent of of how old country solid congee should be. whether it be, the kidney, fish, or other; have it with a fried cruller and it'll make you feel back home.

The pan fried / house chow mein, is standard and hits all the notes.

Really delicious Cantonese Vietnamese food my food foodie friend took me to for my birthday. If you can communicate it with the server, ask for the fish raw on the side for the fish porridge (our server only spoke Vietnamese and broken English) - that way the fish is as tender as possible when you eat it. Surprisingly, even though they use tilapia or catfish (I'm not sure which), I didn't taste any of that fishy taste I usually hate with bottom feeders. Everything was excellent. Don't forget to get the fried crullers/dough to go with the porridge! See pictures for more mouth watering.

Parking lot is large but shared with a lot of other businesses in the plaza, so I had to park somewhat far away.

The chao is on point the chả giò is pretty good. The cha ca thanh Long is always a hit there.

One of the best chao ca places in Little Saigon-- and the cha ca thang long is legit, tooo. We've been coming here since forever (at least 30 times) and we always return. Super fast service like with most Asian restaurants and consistently delicious food.

Amazing food, great service, clean and very modern decor, I was driving thru the area and found this gem on yelp and decided to stop by, and I'm so glad that I did. The turmeric fish was amazing, egg rolls were amazing. Everything was so fresh and delicious I can't recommend this place enough.

Got the Pork Kidney Congee and the Specialty Grilled Fish. The fish with the dill was very tasty and was perfectly crispy. The kidney congee has a fair amount of kidney and was very tasty. It did not have a gamey taste at all. Both were excellent.
Update: Got the Fish Congee and the Pork Kidney Congee. The fish congee was very tasty with a fair amount of tender boneless fish. The kidney congee was very good as usual. The consistency of their congee is perfect and not to watery.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years because it never disappoints! They serve comfort food at its finest. The porridge with fried crullers is the best in town. Sizzling fish platter and beef chow fun are my other go-to dishes. Great service- food comes out fast. Decent prices for consistently delicious, good quality food.

Portions were very generous. Came out hot. Flavors were good.

Everything we wanted in a cháu restaurant

Canton Restaurant is one of the best Restaurant in the Orange county area specializing in Porridge. They just added 2 New Porridge item, Pork Offal Porridge and Pork Rib Porridge along with famous Fish Porridge. I have Been going here years...keeps up the good work and please be cheerful to customers.

My friends and I wanted to eat good authentic Cantonese style food and this place did not disappoint!

The porridge was very smooth / fluffy and well seasoned (the right amount of saltiness). It paired well with the you tiao (chinese donut). Big portion, very filling.

The wonton noodles had clear broth with a good amount and variety of toppings. The chilies on the side were great add-ons as well.

Although it is cash only, I would recommend coming here to eat delicious comfort food.

Great place! Loved their porridge, we think the fish congee surpassed the abalone in flavor. Chinese donut was okay but overpriced for just a few pieces. Another must try is their Fish cake Bun Rieu soup, clean taste soup but flavorful and will recommend also Dill Turmeric Fish, delightful!

My buddy has been raving about this place for months so I finally decided to give it a try. First off their egg rolls are phenomenal, true Viet style! Also, their fish porridge is amazing, you definitely should try it. I’ve been back several times since their prices are so reasonable, and besides the porridge my other go to dishes are the fried rice and the beef chow fun.

Cash only!!! Man how I miss good home cooked soups. This joint is a great spot for chao of alll types. Hefty portions and flavor. Wonton dumplings pretty loaded and the eggrolls are crunchy with their unique skin.

Wow. Every bite of everything we ate was amazing. Like can’t-help-making-noises-of-joy delicious. For 4 of us, we ordered chicken porridge, chicken chow fun, and the fish special plate. Each course came out one at a time so we really got to savor each on.

I never thought rice porridge could have such a complex taste, but the flavors and salt and herbs and broth...... just wow. I would’ve been happy if that’s all we had.

Until the chow fun came out. Those noodles were perfectly seared, and again, perfectly salted and spiced. Veggies were great too. One of the best noodle dishes I’ve ever had.

Then the fish! I’m guessing the person who helped us was one of the owners, and since we are obviously not Vietnamese, she asked us if we would like to learn how to eat this dish. She carefully walked us through the rice wrappers and how to place the noodles and herbs and fish and wrap it up, then use the dipping sauces and eat the crunchy things on the side. She helped each of the 4 of us build our own. She took a lot of time to do this with us, it was pretty amazing.

We will absolutely be returning - and often. It’ll be hard to decide whether to try anything new because what we got was just so perfect 😁

Got the fish on sizzling hot plate with dill and congee, both were delicious. This place is known for those dishes and has been around forever. Looks like the just remodeled, looks much better. Only downside is it is cash only.

You know about this place if you're OG or if you're over 45. I would like to think I fall in the OG category and this place with its fancy upgraded interior, which has led me to believe is the reason my chao (porridge) went up $1 per serving, is still to this day the very best porridge spot in town. I said it. My senior citizen soul loves spending mornings here (doing my part to lower the collective average age of the restaurant by a decade) drinking freshly made warm soy milk and eating their locally famous chao ca (fish porridge) or chao bac thao (thousand year old egg, hold the ground pork). If you're feeling sick, this is the spot, if you're hung over, this is the spot. If you're feeling old and rickety, you guessed it - this hits the spot.

I highly recommend the house special chả cá thành long, with the spring roll wrap. I've had it twice and everything was fresh and delicious both times. Will definitely be back to try thier other dishes, especially after learning that it's being run by a third generation of the same family, established in 1987. So happy to support local (and tasty) family businesses!

So I was skeptical of this place because it wasn’t on DENG HAZARD or BOLSA avenue. Usually you can tell thing on DENG HAZARD is good since Eden Hazard was a reaaaallly good player but that was a while ago. I haven’t followed him since the move to Real Madrid but I’m not sure if he’s still there. I think he got a bit chubby recently but that might be rumors and I switched sports that I follow. Edit: I forgot to mention he might be prowling around the streets eating food there.

I went (forced) to get the Vietnamese fish (KHO TOY) which turns out you need to go All the way to Westminster for. Like apparently you can’t buy a slice of salmon and then make a Vietnamese person to cook it. Like ain’t that basically a Vietnamese fish?? Please submit a poll to help me solve this great mystery.

Recommend the fish porridge and the turmeric fish on a skillet.
