Best midnight snack ever..! This place is open late and I drove here to eat some good Vietnamese food after touching down at LAX on a late night. I enjoyed the rice porridge with chicken and duck and it was delicious! The taste is very authentic and the chè is good too. The server was friendly. Perfect place to eat Vietnamese food!

The food was extremely good. The congee and soup broths were extremely flavourful and it was relatively cheap for the amount you got. I would recommend the half chicken or duck as you get one free congee and salad refill.

First stop in our Cali trip because we just wanted something quick and easy. We didn't expect it to be so good. We got the Com Hai Nam, Chao Long, and Trung Cut Lon. Everything was so good. The portions were huge and for only $12! The chicken was very tender and the ginger dipping sauce was perfect. Definitely will be back!

This place reminds me of cháo vịt Thanh Đa in HCMC. The porridge is amazing - well seasoned and a little watery - just the way I like. The duck and salad are delicious as well! Blood sausage is pretty bad; it is more like a normal sausage and idk I don't even think they put blood in it :/ Chicken rice is very good as well! The short ribs porridge is a little disappointing. It is def not the northern version, and I'm not even sure if the meat is short ribs since there is no bone - idk I'm a little confused about what it is.

Nice staff and laid back atmosphere. Cháo is solid and highly recommend for people looking for some comfort food. Recommend the duck and chicken to accompany your meal!

The name of this place means "midnight porridge", which I feel is an apt name for it, as it is a great place to get food late at night. For those that have never had it before, rice porridge is a great comfort food that is easy on the stomach and filling. For a lot of Americans I feel it is similar to chicken noodle soup growing up, great when you are sick or on a cold night or want something to just "hit the spot". Rice porridge (also called congee in chinese restaurants) is just like that. Of course you can add chili sauce to it if you want something spicier, and this place has some nice add-ons you can mix into or put on top of it, but it is one of those nice simple dishes that is particular great after a long night and you want to grab something before heading back to your home/hotel. The wait for it was kind of long at around 11 pm, not sure if that is normal but we waited about 30-40 minutes for table to open up. We went to nearby shops while we waited though so it wasn't too bad. We got the chicken and duck, the duck was a bit dry to me, but the chicken tasted great.

This place is NOT fine dining. Don't expect it or you'll be disappointed.

This place reminds me of the street porridge places in Vietnam. Nothing fancy, just rice porridge, boiled chicken/duck and a tangy cabbage salad.

Order a side of thousand year old egg and fried Chinese donuts. I was in salt and MSG heaven. Dinner for 2 for around $30. They're open late so that's an added plus.

Really good authentic Vietnamese rice porridge. Customers were Vietnamese of all ages, but mostly older generation. Cash only and their service is typical of hole-in-the-wall Asian restaurants. Their food is authentic so don’t expect it to be Americanized. Price is very reasonable for the quality of food. Highly recommend this place.

Can't ask for a better comfort food for late night with chicken porridge and gởi gà. Quick, friendly services and very reasonable prices. The only disadvantage is that it is tucked in a corner in the back of the strip mall.

This place is a must go to for a late night snack. Best porridge I have ever tasted. Yummie in my tummie.

This is the best porridge in town..good stuff during a cold day. Open late on weekend till 3AM on Saturday..I order #11..

You know when a place is only selling one type of food, they are either foolish or are really good at what they do. In this case, Chao Dem knows what they are doing. We ordered multiple congee/porridges and each one was delicious. Surprisingly, they don't have just a plain porridge base from which others were flavored from. They appear to make each type separately. The included condiments and meats were fresh and flavorful. Will definitely be back!!

Took my grandma here and we loved itn so much food which we didn't finish. Price was great will definitely miss when I'm back on the East coast.

I really wanted to leave a review because the person who helped me out tonight was really kind and accommodating. (Thank you to the person in yellow, if you’re reading this review, I hope you know we really appreciate your kindness!) The place is packed and the food is great. Congee doesn’t usually get the attention it deserves but this place offers so much variety, from duck congee to “Singapore frog”, to seafood to pork intestines congee. I actually haven’t tried the chicken congee that other people have raved about but I’m sure it’s great. This is also the only place we know for congee, since everywhere else mainly offers kbbq or pho. Don’t forget to bring extra cash because it is cash only. Thanks again for great service and great food, we’ll be back. :)

Fast service, good consistent flavor, would not disappoint. Easy light meal

Really crowded at night. Mostly or even all customers are Vietnamese. Pay in cash or zelle only. Pretty good Vietnamese porridge.

My Dear Friends and I came to This Restaurant Because of the Very High Recommendations of Our Family Members, And Our Family Members were Right. The Food was So Delicious, The Portions were Really Generous, And The Service was Excellent And Very Attentive. This is A Really good Restaurant,The Reason That I Know is The Only Downside to This Place, is We All Had to Wait an Hour and a Half to Get Seated, Nonetheless, This is A Great Restaurant, With Great Food And Prices, And Truly Efficient Service, Thank You, Chaos Dem,Sincerely, Ray Spoon Of Gardena.
