Hủ Tiếu Thanh Xuân

I've been coming here since 2000, whenever I'm in Little Saigon for the best Hu Tieu I've ever found. I was first introduced to the restaurant by a recent immigrant from south Vietnam, who proclaimed it as authentic and the best. I get the large bowl of Hu Tieu Thanh Xuan Dac Biet with the clear noodles. I order it Kho (dry) and add the bowls of red sauce and chicken broth myself. It's so tasty, I have no problem driving the 85 miles from San Diego to get it. The complimentary chrysanthemum drink is also very good. The employees are friendly and treat you like family. Always a great experience. Update: Came back for another large bowl of Hu Tieu Thanh Xuan Dac Biet Kho with the clear noodles. Excellent as usual!

Nice, clean place, no wait, parking may be difficult.

Their specialty are hu tiu and mi. The regular bowl is $11, large bowl $13, served with bean sprout and Chinese green, includes a free cold drink. The large bowl is huge with decent amount of roast pork, shrimp and quail eggs. The broth is just right, tasty and flavorful, but not too thick or too bland.

This place is my favorite for hu tiu or mi.

$4.95 -$5.50 all day everyday specials. From Rice/ Egg combo noodle soup to Bun thit BBQ. I would get fat living near this place. Not only cheap but the flavors are amazing too.

Delicious. Broth is not oily. Staff is very friendly, attentive, & treating you like a family or an old buddy in town! Super speedy service.

You can't beat the house special noodle. The main Hủ Tiếu Thanh Xuân is originated from Mỹ Tho, (a.k.a hủ tiếu Mỹ Tho), a uniquely deep-southwestern Vietnamese noodle.

Order the Dry version where they put the broth on the side instead of in the noodle. The dry version comes Also with a special shrimp sauce on the side for you to pour into you nood bowl. You can eat it dry like stir fry or pour the broth in and eat like a nooodle soup. This brings out the unique southwesteen Vietnamese nooddle. Be sure to order the "clear noodle" for an even more authentic taste.

DO NOT compare the hủ tiếu here with the ones at Chinese restaurants. At the Chinese restaurant they may use the same noodle but their broth is for "mì" which is egg-noodle and it is totally wrong.

The Hủ Tiếu here is "supposed" to taste light and fresh, much different than the Chinese noodles which tend to be heavily flavored. It also comes with fresh bean sprout. It also authentically comes with "rau tần ô" (
garland chrysanthemum,[5]chrysanthemum greens,[5] edible chrysanthemum, crowndaisy chrysanthemum,[6] chop suey green,[5] crown daisy,[5] "

If your southwestern noodle doesn't come with "rau tần ô", then its a totally different type of noodle soup. More often than not, at another restaurant, you will be eating some weird fusion noodle that doesn't originate anywhere but from the chefs mind for convenience sake and not authentic.

The price is ridiculously cheap. A small bowl for under $5 compared to other noodle places that can go up to $8, albeit the portion is slightly smaller but still satisfying without the bloated feeling afterwards.

I started going here 30 years ago and now, although there has been a change in ownership, the same authentic freshness is still there. Perhaps the same chef remains.

Oh, and you get a free "nước mát" which is yet another freshly sweet drink.

With such a cheap meal, please tip them generously.

Hu tieu kho (dry) with Dai (clear) noodles is where it’s at! Love the pickled garlic and jalapeños. Sooo good. I get it everytime I’m back In OC

Food is good and in this day and age, very reasonably priced. The owner is super cool and service was fast. Highly recommend for Hu Tieu

The dry noodle was sooo good. Their special sauce was something else!! I would strongly recommend trying it, it will be my to go place for dry noodle in the future
