Bon Ton L'Roy's Lighthouse Smokehouse

What a gluten free find. The waitress/cook/?owner knows gluten free and we had a delicious meal. I had their homemade smoked turkey lentil soup. My boyfriend had their smoked Tri-tip with grilled veggies and finished with bananas foster. So delicious that I ate to much. Love the unique funky atmosphere of 60’s albums on the wall. I would love to attend when they have live music but alas we are only here for a couple of days. However will return tomorrow for some of the other gluten free items on their menu like borscht.

Incredible. The food was amazing, and they immediately accommodated a group of ten which we were so grateful for. All the food was warm and tasted as homemade as it’s described, even down to homegrown tea leaves. I genuinely can’t praise it enough and can’t wait to go back. A little slow, but considering it’s family owned and operated it was absolutely expected and not a problem at all, and at first a little odd as it was entirely empty but we warmed up to it fast. Such sweet people and well worth.

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday (11/12/23) on our way down to the aquarium. Didn’t know what to expect. We were immediately seated by a kind older woman. Is wasn’t crowded and and we enjoyed that it was quiet.

My wife ordered the vegan burger and the waitress (the kind older woman) said “I’ll make that for you if you want, but the grilled vegetable sandwich is much better” my wife agreed to swap and loved her grilled vegetable sandwich.

I was stuck between the catfish po’boy, the BLT, and the gumbo. I decided on the BLT. When I ordered I was told the club I was better so I went with that. The club was so thick it was hard to eat and I was only able to eat half of it (but just finished the second half for dinner).

I ordered the bananas foster for dessert and it was very good.

I just told my wife I’d like to go back tomorrow for the gumbo and she agreed :)

Bob Ton L’Roy’s was exactly what we needed after an absolutely overwhelming aquarium experience. The food was incredible (and so much, didn’t even need a side), atmosphere is familial, and I felt right at home. They even played a couple of my favorite tunes. Recommend!

My family stopped in for lunch. The place was empty but had some nice older music playing. We ordered some cocktails and sandwiches. The waiter was nice and made amazing drinks. The bacon on the club was amazing. The pulled pork was delicious. Definitely recommend stopping in if you are in the area.

Don't believe the negative reviews!! We stopped in to give it a shot and boy oh boy 😋 huge portions very delicious! The woman isn't rude she is a Russian woman who has a strong accent sometimes there are such things as language barriers ppl .. drop in and enjoy definitely try the red beans & rice the stroganoff the jambalaya! We ordered the 3 meat plate it was enormous!! Best smoked bbq I've had !!

A well kept secret going by the limited number eating but all the better for us! Excellent BBQ,best I've had in a long time. Good choice of beers and a mean Margarita! Easy parking on the street outside, all in all a great night out!

We really loved this place and will definitely be returning in the future. The (I'm assuming owner) was very kind and welcoming, the food was hot and fresh and all made from scratch. We ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, tri-tip, ribs, Mac & cheese and potato salad. A gem in Monterey - especially so close to Cannery Row. On some nights they have live music from local artists and more. Don't hesitate to check out this great spot. =)

We flew in from Boise a couple of days ago to visit family and after visiting Bon Ton last year we just had to come back and try some more of the delicious food, especially the smoked meats. Atmosphere is inviting and warm and once again the food was amazing. We had the Muffuletta and the made from scratch French toast. Next time we're back in Monterrey we'll definitely visit again.

Friendly and welcoming mother and son served us fabulous Russian and Cajun dishes. Large portions of delicious BBQ were extremely filling. The stuffed cabbage was tender and flavorful. The slices of homemade apple and pecan pie at the end really topped off the meal. Decor was eclectic, music themed decorations, family photos and sports.

My husband and I found this little place driving out of Monterey and there was a BBQ sign flinging in the wind… we went in and it had soft jazz music playing in the background with a small bar and jazz memorabilia all over the walls. The decor was older themed and quaint. Felt very comfortable and was seated by the gentleman whom appeared to be the owner, manager, waiter and cook! I ordered the brisket sandwich and was brought a huge feast of a sandwich with nice sliced pieces of smoked brisket!! Real brisket! It was absolutely amazing! Fresh and smoked perfectly!! My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and it was New Orleans style bbq! It was so good also!! The man was so friendly and service was superb! Thank you for a wonderful meal! I would definitely come back to try the other dishes as well!!

Will come back! I have celiac and this place is very gluten free friendly. The food was great. The portions are huge. I ordered an extra side of rice and beans to go with my leftovers for dinner later.

The atmosphere was great and the staff friendly. Pictures of the family are hung on the walls. I love supporting small businesses!

We go to Bon Ton's for Thursday night open mic AND at least once a week for lunch/dinner. The food is delicious and the company of Valentina (owner) is always wonderful. The pictures below are Beef Brisket Plate and a Reuben. Bon Tons also has the BEST and most authentic Russian food in town - including pelmeni, beef stroganoff, and borscht. Thanks Valentina!

She made me a Reuben that’s in my Top 3. Great bar, beautiful Old School place. Great Music. My Gal has the pulled pork, wow!!! Not like a commercial pulled pork, well seasoned, not sloppy. Best I’ve tried.

Surprisedly great restaurant. We had the BBQ plates with Tri Tip and Brisket. Tender lean meat with great BBQ sauce and ample portions served with sides of potato salad and grilled vegetables. Everything was great with their twist on seasoning that really added to the meal. You also get great attentive knowledgeable service from the staff. They offer a lot of Gluten Free options if you need it. If you're looking food near the Monterey Bay Aquarium go here, you will love it.

We took a day trip to Monterey bay and wanted some down home cooking, plus my kids aren't the kind to try seafood. The owner was so nice, she was also our server. She even packed our food and add a smiley face! Highly recommend this place and will definitely return when in the area again!
