Descanso Gardens spans over several acres and includes beautifully themed gardens with gorgeous blooms. Today, we saw lots of spring flowers in bloom. The tulips were beautiful, and so were the cherry and magnolia trees. The weather was exquisite and couldn't have been better. The train wasn't working and there was lots of walking but the paths weren't very far apart. The signage of the different gardens could probably be a little better but navigating was easy, and landmarks like the labyrinth in the rose garden were easily identifiable. My grandson looked forward to seeing the koi pond in the Japanese garden and was delighted when he spotted the koi fish in the pond. I loved my day at Descanso Gardens and plan to visit again soon. I would recommend Descanso Gardens to anyone who loves plants and the outdoors because they'll appreciate the grounds and all the gardens have to offer.

Friendly staff here. I have been a member for many years.I encourage visitors from far away to enjoy the early blooming season of camellias RIGHT NOW and they will bloom sometimes late into the spring season.
Locals...please visit here with your family. I have enjoyed many visits here with my grandmother. She loved watching the koi fish
and was fascinated with the abundant rose garden. There is a small train here that will hold adults as well as children. It is a fun way to entertain the whole family !

This was our first time in fall being at Descanso Gardens and we loved it! Quite cute with beautiful scenery. We thought the carved pumpkin garden was a fun touch for kids. They had a day of the dead exhibit where people would write things to love ones that passed away then hang them up at a memorial. There were families and children writing things to grandparents who have passed away. It was very touching. I would definitely go again, especially if I just wanted to have a place to go for a hike.

I love coming here with my kid. We love to walk and see the beauty of nature.

Always beautiful place. Fresh air, nice walks under tall trees,or sitting on a sun. New kiosk with coffee, little train for kids ,camelias in bloom-fun for everyone and every age.

I have had a membership to Descanso for years. I use it all the time. Great for walks, taking my grandchildren for concerts, running, and enjoying nature!

Made our second visit to view the incredible spring tulips! We're also treated to camellias in bloom. Descanso in spring is breathtaking!

Perfect time to catch an abundance of camellias and lilacs in bloom. The entire garden was lush. Particularly beautiful views of the Japanese garden with the cherries, azaleas in bloom, and the Japanese maples leafed out reflecting in the ponds and streams. I also enjoyed viewing the Japanese woodblock prints, Kimonos, and enameled, inlayed personal items. In the garden, Mariko Kitakubo and Deborah P Kolodji read from their book of poems titled "Distance." It added to the depth of this experience in the garden.

Wonderful place to visit. You can purchase your tickets online if you have a student ID you can buy a ticket for senior citizens. The parking is free

Very beautiful place! They have beautiful and exotic flowers, roses and bushes, they have plants from South Africa and all over the world! It is beautiful there!

It was so nice to visit there on 1/1/2019. We supposed to go there on Christmas day, but we scheduled late it was so great to see first day of 2019. It feels like so calm and really great to see walk around slowly. Not so many people were there at that time it was more great! I recommend to go with couples and also with families. It’s $30 per person and I drove about 1hour30mins from Irvine to gardens it was worth it. They have 10 sections you may walk around. I really recommend this place:)

Absolutely delightful. . .not for the faint of heart or those that are out of shape though. . .the hill up the hill is KILLER. My daughter would disagree, but I'm out of shape and it might as well have been Everst for me! Ha!

What a wonderful place. You forget your in LA. Myself and friend spents 4 hrs enjoying the elements of nature. Well maintained and beautifully landscaped. At main entrance they have super cool market, gift shop and yummy coffee truck. Very relaxing atmosphere. Thank you.
