Review from 2014: This school has an awesome food court. I don't drink alcohol but I learned that this school has a liquor license. It's actually one of the few Cal State schools that have one. The bar is located right below food court.

2021 update: since this post is being viewed quite a bit I decided to provide an update. Food court changed throughout the 2yrs I was there. Many restaurants closed but the bar continued to be very popular and also served good food.
I graduated in 2018. Majored in Community Health. I don't have any complains about the faculty or department. I was a transfer student and my experience was great. Classroom size was decent (most classes <35). The school attracts a lot of working students. The school student body is also very diverse.
It is a very small campus but after I graduated the school got funding and was expanding.

My first semester, I visited this school last summer, I automatically fell in love with it. Beautiful campus, new building, friendly students, and small classes. The faculty are helpful, they help you step by step till you get where you want to be. Can't complain about teaching and examination, if you work hard, you will get good grades. I'll definitely recommend this school unless you looking for something other than college experinces and degree.

Awesome campus, the Loker student union is the place to be. It is so nice in there. The library especially is super nice, so fancy. There are multiple level for your comfort, and yes, the higher you go, the quieter it gets. ( thats good though.)

If you are looking for nothing but book work and professors that don't remember your name then this school is not for you. I honestly think CSUDH has received so much, unnecessary, criticism. The campus is great, faculty/staff are helpful, and most professors are great. When you are a part of the campus you "bleed toros." This is to all the negative ratings on here...come on people, college is not all about learning in classes, its networking and being involved on campus. This school teaches you how to be a well rounded student.

Go Toros! Awesome School.

I am a first time online part time student at CSUDH. The staff across the board are incredible. From questions in navigating the site when I first surfed to actually enrollment. The patience and professionalism is something the other schools I have taken courses at, could and should really emulate.
The class I took (first of 3) was seamless to navigate and the professor was uber-patient. She was diplomatic in pointing out mistakes and areas that needed improvement. Diplomacy is something I could and should learn as well. I think I will suggest a course on diplomacy and decorum. :)

It seems that CSUDH has gotten a bad rap. USC was my first choice but because of work, I had to choose a college within a 5-10 mile radius of my home/job/kids school. At first I was skeptical because at the time, their graduation rate was only 36%. I came to discover that it was because CSUDH allows everyone an opportunity to enter; and those who aren't dedicated to their education, fall by the wayside. However, if you WANT an education, CSUDH will not fail you. Their professors are great and their processes are clear. I do think this university would benefit from higher entry level requirements because it would bring in a higher caliber of student. Also, I would LOVE it if they had a football team! Not a soccer team but a FOOTBALL team. Other than that, I have no real gripe. My education there has been solid and as I gather my letters of recommendation for grad school, I will encourage others to complete their undergrad there. It's a smooth transition for transfer students, diverse environment (age, ethnicity, beliefs, national origin, etc.) and opportunities for exploration and growth are everywhere. CSUDH is a hidden gem.

Best online school for working parents and if you want to obtain your BSN while keeping your work and family schedule. Just follow their BSN pathway. If time isn't a hindrance to you, take two courses per semester so you're not overwhelmed by your personal life & class work schedule. It is a lot of research work, reports, clinical hours but you will get done with it. It is not easy but you can do it if you're serious with your studies and do not want to waste thousands of dollars. Most of my professors hold a doctorate degree and Masters. They were very strict and take plagiarism very seriously. Once you cheat you are out !!! I went through a very tough BSN program. No one can say the BSN program here was easy. No way!!! You will have to work very hard that is why I balance my semester units, family time & work schedule. I got through with some As mostly Bs and some Cs. Hey, I'm a mother of 4. I think I did pretty good :) Also get tuition reimbursement at work if offered so it's not so heavy on you financially. Dr. Chai is great BSN Coordinator. CSUDH is a pioneer in online classes especially in Nursing. It is all about performance at work not the school you came from that matters. I must say CSUDH has good reputation at my hospital and is selected by other hospitals to affiliate with their nurses obtaining their BSN degree. CSUDH will rank as one of the top notch universities one day!!!. CSUDH caters to all ethnicities and you won't feel so different. Overall, you get great education for a fairly reasonable tuition fee rate.

It's a great school people like to consider it as if it is easy to get into well sorry that CSUDH tries to help minorities succeed while others schools dont!

I just wanted 2 say just bcuz u heard something bad about somewhere or someone complained about something does NOT mean that it is true at all!! Everyone has their own different, individual experience and this school has been nothing but extremely outgoing, friendly, & VERY affordable actually! Yet, like I said just because it was for me does NOT mean that it was that way for you. May peace be with you all. 😎😎😎

If you are getting a BSN It's difficult to find a preceptor for Home Health and leadership and management in nursing role performance. They have resources and people to help you but it wasn't always like this.
