Foster's Healthmart Pharmacy

Fosters has been great to me while dealing with cancer and a destroyed spine. All of the box store pharmacies have treated me terrible. I've been told " we don't fill those medications in the morning" and some version of " we fill the medications people actually need first" on several occasions at other pharmacies. Not one time has fosters been anything but kind, understanding and respectful to me. I'll never use a chain pharmacy again. If any employees come across this, thanks for your kindness and professionalism.

I like this small town pharmacy! It’s been around as long as I can remember the people, while I’ve had a few over the years be rude to me overall everyone is friendly and your treated with respect. They are the only place that will give a partial prescription and let you pick up the rest at your convenience which for me is really helpful. Everywhere else I’ve found they have to order the full amount if they don’t have it in stock and that takes up to two days.

Review of Mt. Vernon, High St. store only and their services. Been a life-long resident of Knox Co. and have used various pharmacies in town but, with the K-Mart closing several years back, I wanted to look for a pharmacy that had the personal touch combined with convenience. Not being a big fan of mail-order drugs I gravitate toward places where I can have a real conversation (live or phone) in an unhurried manner if needed. The old K-Mart set up supplied this, plus the ability to grab house hold items, shop and do it all in one trip. Good bye K-Mart--hello Fosters. CONS: Foster's does not allow for all the house-hold purchases as with a big box pharmacy but then that's not what they do. There are limited selections but you can peruse greeting cards, medical supplies (band-aides, personal care products, pharmacy items, etc) and grab a snack while you wait. Wait times can be a little long if there are long lines but seating is available. Limited parking (off set by the drive through window and the fact that you don't have to hike a mile and then snake through the temptations provided by Kroger and Walmart to reach the actual pharmacy). PROS: Delivery (area limited) which makes it convenient if you don't feel like getting out of the house to pick up your cold medicine. They offer the ability to auto refill and sync up prescriptions but I can never seem to get mine all synced up to the point where they are 100% predictable. This is a great pharmacy for people who like delivery (remember limited area) and smaller more intimate shopping experiences. If there is a long, long wait at the counter, kill some time at the local Donato's right next door. If you use KAT or have mobility issues the store is pretty accessible from a physical standpoint. They take credit cards which I utilize so that is another PRO point for me. They do have a walk-in clinic (independent of Fosters proper I beleive) that has space in their physical building which can make it very handy--see the clinic folks and get your prescription on the way out. If you are looking for a more "hometown" vs. corporate experience, Fosters on High Street in Mt. Vernon might just be yer spot.

Foster's has been my favorite family pharmacy since the year 2000 ;) I feel like I'm a part of their family . You will love them too ❤😉
