Had an extremely positive experience here! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted politely and offered to try out an equipment I wanted. The salesman gave me time to try out a guitar I had in mind, offered me a fair price, and took the time to clean it and adjust the truss rod before paying. Highly recommend! Will be returning whenever I need accessories, or eventually, another guitar

Huge shout out to Dave and Lauren. My daughter has been playing a ukulele at school and wanted to save up for her own. Big learning moment for her as we talked in the car about why we shop local and what it means to the community, but also how local shops have genuine passion and will take care of you when you need it. Found Rock City on Google and drove right over. They were so patient with my daughter, who’s working on her shyness. I couldn’t have been more proud of her, and I am so appreciative of the awesome staff. We will be in soon for lessons! New customer for life. Cheers!

This place is the small business model that others should follow. When ever I shop here, the staff is always friendly and helpful. It’s the little things they do, the attention to detail that makes them different. I just dropped off my Fender Acoustic and Fender Strat and they came back better than new. So whether I’m buying vinyl, CD’s or just buying a guitar, the people there treat you with respect and no snobbish elite attitude. I look forward to seeing them grow more in the coming years.

Excellent store, they have a great direction of gear. I was recently there because I was having problems with my bass. Their tech came out and took the time to check it out with me, make a few adjustments and recommendations. The recommendations he made were spot on and fixed my problem and I really appreciate him taking the time to help me out. If you haven’t been down there to check the store out do it! They have so many pedals and awesome guitars, highly recommend.

I am an active player in different groups, bands, and churches over the years. THIS IS MY PRO SHOP!. The service is excellent, Jesse is the best tech out there for you guitars, and everyone there is very knowledgeable as most are pro musicians.

These guys are amazing! I started off as a disgruntled customer because of a weird, “fluke” issue with the battery pack on an acoustic / electric Fender.

They 100% helped me out with all of my questions and concerns. Even took care of the Fender paperwork (the Fender warranty covered everything including a new battery.) Their crew also put on some really nice strings and tuned it up for me.

HIGHLY recommend!

Went there specifically to buy a Reverend.
Lots of choices. Well worth the drive. Also awesome selection of vinyl as well.

I took my guitar in for electronic repair and it took less than half of the estimated time. The repair technician was great, treated me very respectfully and ensured that the problem was fixed before I left. All for a very affordable price. Thank you Rock City!

Amazing store. Honestly one of the greatest locations I've ever been. This and Upper Bout in Champaign, Illinois are the pinnacle of guitar stores. Every single worker asked me if I needed help. Guitars as cheap as $150 are setup and playable.

Great guitar store! Wide selection of guitars, amps, effects, and records! Knowledgable staff. A much better environment than that nationwide big box chain store that sells guitars. Took guitar and mandolin lessons from Jesse Manns there for about 2 years. The dude is a great teacher and a beast on guitar and mandolin!! Rock City brings in a fair number of music celebrities to conduct seminars, etc. I highly recommend the store for guitars, guitar equipment and lessons.

I've had nothing but positive experiences at this shop through the years. They stock pretty much everything. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. If they don't have it, they will order it for you. Impressive selection of guitars and basses from brands like Fender, Gretsch, Reverend, Jackson and Epiphone. They have a wide array of pedals, amps, drums and parts. Their vinyl section seems to always be growing. They get all the new releases and have tons of used stuff. Awesome place!

I loved my experience at Rock City Music Company! I got a beautiful red Squier Cyclone, and everyone who worked there was so nice!! They provided fantastic customer service and helped me find the perfect guitar for me. Definitely check this place out, and go dig through their vinyl, too!

Incredible place! The second you hit the door you are welcomed by a friendly staff of true musicians that know their stuff. Great selection of gear from beginner to pro, they have a bit of everything, I could spend hours in there. I had their guitar tech set up my ESP M II I had recently purchased and he did an outstanding job! Love it! Their service is second to none.

Love this place because it’s run by pros and some of the most helpful staff you’ll ever meet. Have bought several guitars here and there guitar tech Jesse is the best.

I love this place. The staff and owner Nick make me feel like a family member everytime I walk in. They have an awesome collection of quality guitars (love the Charvel's and Reverend's) and gear that can meet anyone's budget. Great for lessons and any type of work you need done on your instrument. Highly rated.

This is a great store to buy music gear, physical format music, and to get lessons. If this store has something you want by all means go and get it. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and I have no complaints in regards to my experiences purchasing things here. I took lessons here at the beginning of 2020, but these were cut off in March, unfortunately due to the pandemic. I had a positive experience with my lessons; my instructor was knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this place.

I am very impressed with the tech service man, Jesse. Just revisited the store a year ago and had him do a few repairs. Very professional and conscientious. Did a great job on two of mine. I have several others I'll be upgrading by him. Very knowledgable. Trustworthy.

Rock City Music is great! I recently moved to Livonia and was looking for a specific model of guitar. I stumbled upon Rock City's website and found the model I was looking for, but it ended up going out of stock literally the next day. I contacted them on Facebook to get an estimate on if/when more units would arrive. Nick (the owner) was super friendly in his correspondence with me and ended up giving me a great deal on a similar model. The store atmosphere is exactly what you'd want for a guitar/music store - staff were friendly, but not pushy or hanging over my shoulder while I tried the guitar. I also appreciated that they were all wearing masks and asked everyone to use hand sanitizer before playing the instruments. I'll definitely be going to Rock City first for all my guitar needs!

Update (March 2023):
I've returned to Rock City a few times to pick up gear and have my guitar and bass serviced - all experiences have been great! They even re-fretted my stratocaster, which is no small task! The staff are very nice, and turnaround time for getting work done on my instruments has been completely acceptable (~7-10 days for the tech to start work - comparable to other places I've had work done). In my opinion, this is as good music store as you'll find anywhere! Glad to also be supporting a local business. Keep up the great work!
