Suburban Eye Care

I had an excellent experience at this optometrist's office. The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly . The doctor went above and beyond to ensure that I received the right prescriptions, showing dedication and patience. I'm truly impressed with their commitment on my eye health and satisfaction.

I recently finished Vision Therapy and am on my last check in. For me, Vision Therapy was well worth it. I had a concussion five years ago that compounded additional vision issues onto ones I already had. I was in school at the time and struggled to keep up with my classmates. I had to read the same thing multiple times and longer because I skipped and misread words. My regular eye doctor, Dr. Arnold, highly recommended Vision Therapy to strengthen my eyes and to train my brain to process reading and other tasks properly. He teamed up with Dr. Smith and Vision Therapist Miss Kelsey for my care, so that I had more experienced people helping me through the process.

To begin, I did a series of tests with Dr. Smith and Miss Kelsey to determine my starting point. On a weekly basis, I worked with Miss Kelsey through various exercises and did homework throughout the remainder of the week. There were many times when I was frustrated with my progress, especially when I struggled with some exercises. Miss Kelsey was incredibly encouraging and flexible to changing an exercise as needed.

Throughout my time in vision therapy and after it, I experienced many improvements, particularly in reading and comprehension. When I had to study for a licensing exam, I could not believe the difference. It was so much easier and less stressful for me. I read quicker and remembered more than I would have before. For the first time in a long time, I felt confident in my learning and comprehension. Thank you Suburban Eye Care for helping me through my vision issues!

I am really impressed with Suburban Eye Care. It's the best eye care experience I've had, by far. If you're in the market for eye care, look no further.

As an adult going through the process it opened up my eyes to what was really going on with me. I was having horrible anxiety about driving, going on vacation, going out with friends, even day to day activities were too much for me. It was because my eyes were not working together anymore(Convergence insufficiency & Vertical Heterophoria) and I was seeing double.

Dr. Kayla Smith is a fantastic Optometrist who I saw throughout the program. She cares so much for her patients and listens to your concerns. Amanda G was my fantastic Vision Therapist. We worked together for 6 months. She sent me home with exercises to work on and met once a week in office. She's kind, warm and very very encouraging! Together they gave me the tools and exercises to work through vision issues and my anxiety that is being caused by my diagnosed problems.

I graduated therapy and couldn't be more happy with the program. I am grateful that I was prescribed Prism glasses to wear when my eyes get fatigued to help with my Vertical Heterophoria(vertical misalignment of my right eye). If you're having vision issues, are anxious about being in a car or even living your normal life seems more anxiety ridden I suggest making an appointment for to see if you are a candidate for Vision Therapy!

Met Dr. Jacobi at Landmark forum, he’s super friendly and humorous, making everything much much funnier and happier. We all love being around him ☺Also found out he’s a partner of Suburban eye care, he’s definitely the best Dr. ever based on his personal quality. Highly recommend....You must visit here to see him if your eyes need to be taken care of.

Dr. Arnold treats my dry eye on a regular basis. He’s super friendly, super helpful, and just plain awesome. Plus the staff and techs are all nice too. I highly recommend Suburban Eye Care and Dr. Arnold especially.

Doctor is very thorough. There is never a wait. Would definitely refer anyone for an eye exam!

I'm an existing Ortho k patient newer to Michigan. I've had the same prescription for over 15 years (Ortho k prescriptions don't generally need to be changed) and was looking to get a new pair of lenses. There aren't a lot of options for this form of vision correction, but I sure am glad I found Suburban Eye Care! They have been extremely friendly, timely, and professional every time I've visited, the office is beautiful, well-kept, and clean, and unlike the other local optometrist I visited last year, they didn't try to charge me all the initial Ortho k lens fitting fees just so I could order the same prescription that I've been using for years (which are generally over $1k). Highly recommend this office and especially Dr. Arnold! And if you don't know about Ortho k, I recommend asking them about that too. I love not needing any vision correction during the day!

*UPDATE 10/2023: This company is under new ownership and has a new pricing structure in place. Ortho-K now costs $800 annually for established patients. I think it's time I get lasik. I absolutely can not afford to pay $800 annually for a prescription that hasn't changed in 20 years. That's totally insane. I can't imagine that they aren't going to end up losing money on customers like me. Otherwise, the staff and care I've received at Suburban have still always been outstanding and I hope to continue my relationship with them as a non Ortho-K patient.

Have received great personal eye care for many years from Dr. Jacobi and the staff. Dr. Jacobi diagnosed a cornea issue that prior doctors misdiagnosed. I am grateful for his good care. I now see Dr. Kayla Smith and receive the same personal care from her.

The staff is friendly too.

Everyone was super friendly and professional at Suburban Eye Care! Dr. Arnold is always very personable and makes you feel at ease during the eye exam. The assistants are kind and explain things so you understand fully the procedures they are doing and why. Colleen did a fantastic job helping me pick out frames! I highly recommend you choose this office for your eye needs. You will be happy you did!

We are so grateful to have found Suburban Eye Care for our family. We have had 2 kids go through the vision therapy program. Both Amanda and Kara are amazing, kind, dedicated therapists who helped our kids to reach their potential and overcome obstacles. Dr. Jacobi and Dr. Smith are wonderful, caring doctors who truly see and understand not only what the patient is feeling and going through, but also set a plan to help them achieve their potential with sight, vision, academics, school and everyday life. The office staff is kind, helpful, prompt and supportive and are a pleasure to interact with. Grateful and appreciative does not even begin to describe how we feel about Suburban Eye Care! This the best place for all of your eye and vision needs!

When I heard of vision therapy, my first thought a
Like many others is, my child needs glasses. Nope! We needed to strengthen his eye muscles and help my child to recognize what his eyes were doing while he was reading. Amanda at Suburban Eye Care is the best! She is patient, understanding, and is always willing to go above and beyond to help her patients. We came to Suburban Eye Care every week for 6 months and the whole staff was amazing each time. If your child is struggling with reading, it doesn’t hurt to have their eyes checked.

I was struggling with motion sickness and focus issues, particularly with reading, when I discovered Vision Therapy through Suburban Eye Care. I have successfully overcome these symptoms after completing their VT program. I highly recommended giving it a try. To top it off, their staff is so kind and knowledgeable. They really care about their patients. A great experience!

Summer (front desk clerk) was very professional!

Unfortunately, I got all worked up over the free coffee that they were glad to provide, but absentmindedly walked out without the lense cleaner they were graciously providing with my new glasses!

I have worn contacts/ glasses for 30 years and I just learned about myopia therapy and numerous treatments that may slow progression - when researching options for my 12 year old son. Trying the multifocal contact lenses for him in a few weeks in hopes his vision won't get as bad as mine. Dr. Arnold and team were so knowledgeable and professional. May also look at OrthoK as an option in the future (wearing hard contacts at night so no contacts needed the next day, such an amazing thought!!) Will definitely continue to see them.

Vision therapy truly was one the best decisions we ever made for our daughter. From day one to the last session Amanda was the best with her! Amanda always explained everything well, and made sure we understand each step. Vision therapy helped her gain confidence and become a much better reader! She actually enjoys reading now and does it in her spare time to learn new things. Vision therapy helped her to enjoy school more. Thank you all for all your hard work!!

I had a great experience with my eye exam. They were able to get me in right away, all the staff members were extremely nice and easy to work with. My doctor was awesome and Colleen helped me pick out some new frames and she was amazing. This is by far the best eye place I have been to, would def recommend to anyone in need.

Vision therapy has helped my 11 yo child so much over the last year. My son was struggling in school. He was not reading at grade level, seeing a reading specialist daily for years, going to the resource room, private Orton Gilligham tutoring, etc. As parents we felt helpless and didn’t know how else to help our child. We were willing to try anything to help. We found Suburban Eye Care/Vision Therapy and finally felt like he was going to be helped. From the very beginning Dr. Smith was able to tell us that our child was not dyslexic but had Conversion Insufficiency. Once we knew, everything started to make sense. His vision therapist Amanda G. was so kind and attentive to his needs. She helped keep us on track at home and in the office. It has helped him so much academically, car sickness is basically gone, his confidence and so much more. For 1 year we drove 1.5 hours each week, he never once complained or said he did not want to do his vision therapy daily practice. He knew as much or more than we did how much it was helping him. I just wish more people knew about it!
