I've had small issues here in the past, but my latest experience has been phenomenal!
Another hub lost my package of live fish and after calling Allegan to see if it had arrived and put a hold on it since tracking hadn't updated and I didn't want them tossed around a truck another day, and they were awesome enough to email the grand rapids hub to try to get them to find my package even without my request ehen they couldn't find any sign of it locally. Suddenly the package started moving again! Above and beyond, I couldn't appreciate our local PO workers more.

Chris is always helpful and pleasant to work with. I go out of my way to the Allegan post office because of him.

Had to wait in line as it was almost 5pm and they were busy with only one window open for service at the time. However staff was helpful and extremely friendly so I cannot complain. They assist customers as quickly as possible especially during the holiday seasons, they make suggestions and double check to make sure you will have everything you need to accomplish your postal service needs.

I have a PO Box and all the employees know me when I walk in the door and don’t even have to ask my name! I have never had any bad experience with anyone who works here!

OK. I do get much better service from this small town post office than I did when I lived in a large city. Our normal mail carrier makes an effort to get boxes up our long driveway but subs do not and they will just drop it by our mailbox on a busy road. For some reason, I do not seem to get postcard type of mail.

The women that work there are very helpful and friendly. The younger guy that works there he is rude. He is on his phone every time I come in there and he is loud. He doesn't greet customers because he is looking at his phone.

It feels strange writing a business review about a federal agency, but here it goes:
For years I have felt as if the staff inside the office are disengaged and less than helpful. The Post Carriers are great, however.
Last December, I witnessed a postal worker charging an elderly woman almost $60 to mail a package, which was a gift for a family member for Christmas. The Postal Worker could have helped this senior citizen out by telling them about the Flat Rate Boxes- literally the Post Office has these in-stock - but instead took the unsuspecting woman's money (she was clearly concerned about the price, too). It was so wrong and infuriating. It took everything in me not to step in and let the customer know she would be better off going flat rate. I try everything in my power to avoid coming here, or visit other post office locations.
