Out and Back, we logged 1.85 miles on our AllTrails App, 59-minutes (included swimming and rock scrambling), with only 223-ft elevation. Starts on Private Property, leave a $20 donation in the box. The farmstead has mules, horses, turkeys, chickens, and cows that you will pass to enter the trail. Follow the fence and watch for the orange markers in the trees. About a tenth of a mile is steep. You don’t really notice it on the way down. I’ve read a lot of reviews that say this is a hard or challenging hike. It’s not for anyone that hikes. It’s very basic — if you are a novice hiker you will find this “easy”. The falls are beautiful— upper & lower falls access — you can get behind the falls too. There are 2-creeks that come over the rock shelf making 2-falls. It’s gorgeous. You’ll also see petrified wood, interesting rock formations, and lots of moss. There are several creek crossings. I wore waterproof Keens and my teen age daughters wore slides. It was an incredibly rewarding hike for the small amount of effort. There are 3-cute small dogs that will greet you at the parking lot. If you bring your dog, the owner will offer to put them up. I read a review that said they had to fight the dogs off. This nearly caused me to skip this trail. I’m so glad I didn’t. You’ll see photos of us petting them. They were adorable and very sweet and friendly. I’m so glad we did this hike and would definitely do it again.

This was a great little hike. And parking at Mr. Tidwell's property was a breeze. I did hang around a bit to talk with him. He likes to talk about life and the Bible which if fine by me. He lent me a hiking stick to scare away any snacks. And I did encounter one. Please leave him a donation in his mailbox as a thank you for maintaining a trail on his land and allowing people to park at his home to access the falls. I hear they'll tow your car at the old access point.

This is the correct trailhead!

Owner of house at end of road let’s people park here and access trail via his land. Walk the length of the fence on the right, follow the orange blazes after you enter the woods, then hang a right when you hit the public trail. Total length is ~ 3/4 miles to waterfall.

Moderate hike. Gorgeous waterfalls. Check it out!

Original trailhead is on private land, and owners there have decided to deny everyone access to the public trail in Bankhead.

These are summer time pictures, when flow is minimal. Awesome place with much to see besides the waterfall.

The owner of this property is kind and respectful. Make sure you take the time to introduce yourself and chat with him a little. He is a lolly guy since his wife died and really appreciates people taking the time to interact with him. It's A Beautiful spot to just get away and relax. I find myself coming back here every year for that reason.

Had a bit of a hike, so don't forget your water and proper footwear... but by far our favorite waterfall in North Alabama!

Nice hike, beautiful falls. Went on an overcast day, in cool temperatures 24 hrs after a rain so the water volume was much more than normal. Not much parking at the trail head, on the dead end road. Trail is well marked and the cows inside the fence seemed friendly, but no petting they are on private property. The trail splits and you can follow the creek around the hill to the falls or you can follow the trail up and around the hill. You will have to cross the creek, but it's shallow and easily crossed with dry feet.

So the waterfall is 5 stars. Where the trail starts is on someone's property which is like a negative 10. I went early morning so most of the dogs were either crated or on leashes. But still scary and unnerving, I am surprised a government run trail would do this, needs to be moved back. Even the cows along the fence were running towards me-looked like they had madcow disease. On the way back the small dog came to attack so I ran to my car. The trail was easy and well maintained follow the ribbons, they do stop so just go left/down and follow along you won't miss it.

NOT ALL HEROS WEAR CAPES. Bless the earth angel giving us parking.
When you park, get out the car, turn away from the house and walk past the coop, turn right and walk between the fences. Follow the neon tyes and tip this amazing man
