Agave Azul Modern Mex & Cantina

Great atmosphere, awesome mango blackberry margaritas. I had three Taco Gobernador, the octopus was a little tough but flavors really nice. Husband had the Mahi Tacos and enjoyed them. Both entrees are plentiful tacos are loaded. Chips and salsa were very good. Just enough heat in the salsa. Super great staff!

The food was simple, up to date and delicious! I went back the next day for the same dish- KETO chicken. Great portions. The restaurant was clean, airy with an upscale vibe without the pomp. The flavors are amazing. GO!💖

Topsail has limited food options. Agave Mexican restaurant was our savior for a delicious fine dining experience. We loved the ambience, the mango tequila shots were huge and with the right amount of buzz. Of course, you get the complimentary chips and salsa as starters. For the main course, we ordered the chicken tacos and veggie burrito. Note that if you're a vegetarian, they can make a veggie option out of almost anything for you. The portion sizes were massive and the quality was on point. Top top of the night, we ordered the yummy tres leches cake and as they say "there's always room for dessert".

Directly across from the Hamilton Inn the Agave Azul is a great place to relax after a long drive. Either inside or out you'll be graced with the culture and atmosphere of Mexico as you drink and eat great plentiful dishes.

Decently priced, and an experience.

We have eaten here three times now and every time has been great. It’s the best Mexican food that I have had in south eastern NC. Salsa is kinda spicy, not horrible for me, but I enjoy heat. Tortillas and chips taste like they are made in the restaurant. Lots of flavor, great marinades, quick and friendly service, good price. The only thing that we won’t order again is the queso. It’s too loose and doesn’t really stay on the chips.

Place was busy. Waited about 15 minutes for a table although there were several empty tables when we were seated. Salsa was a bit spicy but good. Food was excellent as I had the poblano burrito. Can't wait for the one near Surf City to open.

Our bartender, Diana, was AMAZING. Ask for her if you come in: she’s warm, welcoming, attentive and all around a gem.

The food is a start to finish culinary experience. The drinks? Out of this world. The price? THE BEST PART. 2 adults: dinner, apps, 6 drinks, two desserts: $110.

10/10 recommend. A must while in Emerald Isle.

So when we first got here I was ready to leave. There was a woman behind the bar that would not look my wife in the eye didn’t acknowledge us at all. There was Diana. Diana came in punched the clock and walked right up to my wife and I and totally turned our day completely around. Warm smile and a big heart. Really fast service even with it being busy. I highly highly highly recommend sitting at the bar if she’s working. Her drinks come out amazing I couldn’t be more impressed.

We were visiting for our annual trip and decided to give this place a try. So glad we did! Atmosphere was really cool. Drinks and dip sampler tray were delicious! Service was exceptional! We'll be back!

Diana was excellent! Drinks and food came out quickly! Portions are HUGE! Prices are very reasonable. Food was delicious! (Totally recommend the Al pastor street tacos!) Love the atmosphere, music, food and drinks!

I really enjoyed the food here. The salsa had a little spice and the smoky mezcalito was incredible! Service was a little slow to start but really everything else was great.

Great food with an amazing selection. Beef, pork, chicken with multiple choices for each. Mezcal margaritas were delicious. Wait staff was attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Amazing staff, clean restaurant, and actual good customer service! My hopes are starting to come back that good customer service will start returning to restraunts. This place causes me to keep holding on! Lol

We were a party if 12 and they sat us immediately and had chips and salsa brought to the table. Sever was awesome, atmosphere was nice and food was excellent. No menus so you have to scan a QR code. low signal in restaurant but they have WiFi. Food didn’t take long at all. Great little spot to try near North Topsail.

Second time here and totally worth the drive! We had the Agave Chicken Bowl & Diablo Burrito - both excellent! Not pictured was the Chipotle Shrimp Fries appy that we devoured before thinking to take a pic! Our server, Miranda, was awesome - quick, attentive and super friendly! Highly recommend!!

This is my go-to Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious and the customer service is always bar-none! Recently, I had the Volcano Tostados, which was good, but I like the carnitas more. Each meal was seasoned RIGHT though and not bland or stale. I tasted a piece of my friend's pollo and that was really delicious! It was juicy and perfectly seasoned. Don't remember that meal but I'll definitely get that next time.

On my goodness!! This place has yummy Mexican food and the bartender makes fantastic drinks. We were seated right behind the hostess station - that was perfect (for me) cuz I like to people watch. But even being there at the very front, it was fine. The food was absolutely moist, tender, authentic and more. I would definitely recommend Agave Azul to everyone. Make the trek to Sneads Ferry and have a great time. Tell ‘‘em Susie sent you…not really, they’d think you were nuts - or I was LOL

Wow! Our party of three were blown away at the food and service! The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is fantastic, and our server, Carlos, was AMAZING! He was very attentive, the timing of the food was great. Very clean restaurant and parking lot. I wish I could give 10 stars!

My husband and I followed previous reviews and ended up at Agave Azul at about 8pm on a Saturday. The parking lot was full… however like stated before, don’t be afraid, beautiful seating will be available for you. We were seated in Miranda’s section and got some of the best service we’ve ever had!
Let’s talk food and drinks… we started with the dip sampler. Everything was so fresh and delicious, the quality of this food amazed me. I had the shrimp stuffed poblano pepper tacos 10/10. The Margaritas, pinas, mojito and mezcal were amazing! My husband had a burrito and loved it! So many pictures…. Agave Azul was so good, we went back a again the following Monday! I had the Choripollo and my husband had the enchiladas. Churros on National Churro Day! The owner came to our table and was so gracious. His kitchen is putting out amazing food and he has amazing staff!
