A hidden gem in the Smokies, beautiful view and everything is family style. Don't miss the tomato pie or the dessert if you have room for it .

Words can’t express how wonderful it was to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at this beautiful lodge. It is a relaxing refuge away from the business of life. The Saturday night meal was the best homemade southern cooking you could ever ask for. The anniversary dance with the song Paper Doll from the vintage jukebox topped our evening. We found new friends that we had great conversations with. Thank you for wonder Experience!!

What an incredible experience!! We were at the lodge for a gorgeous vow renewal. The mountain views, the authenticity and history of the building, and THE FOOD!!! Home-cooked delicious meals and hospitality that exceeded all expectations. We didn't stay in the rooms but other family members did and they were adorable. Highly recommend!

Booked a few nights here, and was impressed by everything. Tracey and her staff were very courteous, personal, and professional and yet they made my sister Melissa and I feel right at home. Had great conversations with Karen who made us feel as though we had lived there forever. The cabin was rustic and quaint but had the necessary amenities, and was super clean. The food was delicious, other guests were open and engaging and the entire experience was a sigh of relief and a breath of fresh air away from the outside world. You will not be disappointed if you are wanting to enjoy a simpler way of life, laid back, no clock watching, just relax, take a deep breath and smile.

Found this gem by accident. Totally awesome experience. The owner is great and super accommodating. This is rustic, so if you want off the grid, relaxing, unplugged atmosphere, this is your spot. The homemade breakfast was terrific. They did not have a dinner the weekend we were there, but I have heard their pot roast is legendary. We are looking forward to going back.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 days this past week. We loved absolutely everything about it. The lodge itself is beautiful and relaxing from the quaint and comfortable rooms to the warm and inviting living room. There is a full length porch on the back that was wonderful to sit and enjoy the beautiful view. We loved sitting by the fire in the living area in the evening. Julian was always sure to have everything set up so all we had to do was light it. We were also fortunate enough to be able to eat dinner here one night as well and the food was phenomenal. The tomato pie everyone talks about is definitely worth the hype. Overall, I can't say enough good things about this place. Everything about it was exactly what my husband and I needed. We would absolutely not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

We had such a great time at Smokey Shadows lodge. Enjoyed sitting on the wonderful long porch as the sun went down with a nice bottle of wine and some cheese. For some reason, everything tastes better when you are 4200 feet up in the mountains. We stayed in the 100+ year old cabin, lit a nice fire in the fireplace. Peace, quiet, cool mountain air, soft sounds of gentle rain at night while cuddling in a very comfortable bed, delicious breakfast every morning – who could ask for more? It didn’t feel like we were staying at a cabin, but felt more like we were hanging out with some good friends and family who just happened to own a nice cabin and lodge. Amanda, Tracy, and Ginger were all so sweet and accommodating that at the end of our 3 days stay I was sad that we weren’t staying longer. Bud made sure we had plenty of wood and a grill ready for cooking on if we needed it. On our last night there we were fortunate enough to enjoy one of their fantastic gourmet country meals - I see now why the locals look forward to those nights (there are those who may say I had 3 slices of that incredible tomato pie but if I’m eating off of my wife’s plate I don’t count that slice). All I can think about is how soon can I get back there – if you are looking for a unique and relaxing experience this is one of those rare places that you need to experience.

High atop a mountain near the Cataloochee Ski Resort in Maggie Valley is this rustic, quaint lodge where Tracy, her sous chefs and staff serve up a traditional family style dining experience. Tomato pie, squash casserole, salad, beets, and tender pot roast with carrots, potatoes, noodles and gravy Sugary chocolate cherry cake with fresh made whipped cream. It is BYOB so bring your own spirits, sit back and be treated in true Southern Style. Buy the cookbook for their treasured recipes. Highly recommend, especially with a group of people.
