UM Bowie Health Center

My husband was brought to this hospital via ambulance on June 7 because he had a heart attack. From the moment he arrived, until he was released on June 21st, his care was EXCEPTIONAL. His surgeon was named Dr. James Brown. He and his team are responsible for my husband still being here. Some persons on the 6th Acute floor that took great care of my husband and our entire family were Tara, there were two Mikes and Christiana, just to name a few. I am forever grateful to the staff and to this hospital. God bless each of you!

Recently I presented late-nite to Bowie Health Center for severe abdominal pain. I was seen immediately, and was treated with concern and compassion. My pain was relieved, and the team worked diligently to find the cause. I arrived fearful for my life and they did everything to alleviate that fear.
I am sure I am leaving out folks, but thanks to Dr. Obrzut, Nurse Jeff, Nurse Darrell and Nurse Jaqe. They were amazing. The CT and sono techs were consummate professionals, very caring and communicative. I was discharged by the Day Shift who were also great.
It is incredible to me that there are still people willing to do this often thankless job in the post-COVID era. So many techs, nurses and doctors have left hospitals that those that choose to remain do so knowing that they are understaffed and under supported. And frequently... overwhelmed. I am profoundly thankful that they are still here.

Had to go twice in recent months. Today 2/26 Referred by Online Dr., I was not in pain or a priority as far as I was concerned but, although they were busy, all were very thorough, considerate and efficient with me. Fast reception, blood and urine tests. Very professional. Even the discharge process was fast.

While I do feel empathy for the others who haven’t had good experiences here, I myself have been here twice and each time went smoothly. Everyone is sweet and professional, especially the RN that’s taken my history and vitals each time. I’m glad I’ve gone here for my care.

I recently visited the UM Bowie Health Center ER with my dad, who was suffering from a horrible severe migraine attack. I cannot praise the staff enough for their professionalism, kindness, and promptness in attending to his needs. Due to his violent vomiting and severe dehydration, they triaged him to the front of the line. They immediately recognize the severity of his condition. They even turned off all of the lights, and whispered quietly as they collected the necessary information on his history. That’s a small gesture, but for somebody with cluster headaches, it makes a big difference. Within 45 minutes of our arrival, he was checked in, assigned a room, and a medical team began administering fluids and necessary medications.

While I'm unsure about this ER's capabilities for super severe immediate life-threatening emergencies, it excelled in handling common ER visits. This was, by far, the most efficient and effective ER experience I've had, and I've had to visit several with my dad since I was young. We were appropriately discharged in just 2.5 hours.

I understand that there may be negative reviews, but in my experience, this ER demonstrated exceptional care and service. I highly recommend UM Bowie Health Center ER for your emergency medical needs.

They let the federal government access the hospital as my nurse white man black hair he pump fake as in if he was Injecting me with the medication and placed the unused jar in his apron/ I’m not contacting u guys thanks for the service I felt 90% better when leaving check your camera

I didn’t know that this facility was here. I brought my husband here after being told by the ER Representative at Doctors Community Hospital that it would be a 5 or 6-hour wait and that they had to turn patients away. Well, I never heard of that even during a life-threatening situation, but we went to the Bowie ER. It was a wait time, but you forgot about it because all the medical staff and household technicians made you feel important and that they cared from the time we arrived and left. It was a good experience. My husband gave you the 5-stars. 😀😀😀🤗🤗

I'm pretty blown away by all the bad reviews... I was sick with a major sinus headache for days, so last night I asked my mom to drive me to Bowie Health Center. We were treated with nothing but kindness by everyone we encountered during the entire visit. Fyi, we're women of color, and the staff we interacted with were from a variety of backgrounds. Dr. Ravi was awesome! He gave us some REALLY great info, and I'm already feeling sooo much better! I got tested for covid while there, and today found out I'm positive. I called the health center to ask if I should do anything different, now knowing I have covid, and the nurse I spoke with was so caring and helpful! It was a great experience, and I'm really really glad I went. We spent about 2 hours there (~10pm to midnight), which we felt super lucky about.

Guys, when you go to the ER, you should FULLY EXPECT and be prepared to spend several hours there. My last visit to Bowie Health Center was during the day; I spent around 8 or 9 hours there, I was ill, and yes, very tired of waiting, but you know what? They treated me well, and I got better because I went. I'm inclined to think that the people upset about 5 hour waits and "rude staff" are walking in with an attitude problem, as people in this area are so prone to do. Be nice to the staff, and I bet they'll be nice to you. The folks working here have their heads squarely on their shoulders, not up their rear ends like at so many other ERs, urgent cares, and my own doctor's office. Please leave your PG County attitude in the car and step into the real world.

I have been here for myself twice, and my daughter twice. We haven't had a bad experience, the doctors and nurses here have been fantastic. Sure, you might have to wait a bit, the most we have waited was 3hrs. People complaining about service times and experience need to consider when you should go to the ER for something, and when you should go to urgent care or your doctor.

Great experience! The doctors went above and beyond to try and figure out what was going on with my stomach. After receiving pain relievers through an IV and unfortunately having an allergic reaction, they quickly attended to me to take care of the allergic reaction. They made me feel safe and cared for.
I’ve had the worst experiences at every other hospital in PG county and was afraid to go but they made a huge difference to me. Thank you!

Any short-comings I encountered at the Health Center are the result of Dimension Health Management and Administration policies, not the people there.
4 July 2022: I was admitted to the Health Center with acute appendicitis. I was triaged as quickly as possible, seeing as policy issues related to Covid-19 had had a major impact on staffing (as it has across all facilities that required vaccination of all employees). After I was triaged, very well and completely I might add, by a gent name Jimmy Norman, I had to wait a short amount, maybe an hour, to be seen by a team of extremely dedicated, professional, and efficient health care providers.Adeboweli Dawandu, Monica McCarty, and Dr Kraig Melville. These professionals exemplified the compassion, and knowledge, we have always expected from are health care providers. Mine you, this was 1) The 4th of July, Independence Day, which is a heavy day for these folks, and 2) I was requiring a bed and OR for emergency surgery. Did I have to wait? Yes, because the nation is still reeling from the effects of our political machines ineptitude at dealing with the pandemic. Was the service provided emblematic of professionals coming together to do their best in a near hopeless situation? An emphatic YES!
I give the Bowie Health Center 5 stars for the efforts of their staff on the floor. If I could, the Dimensions Health Services, Inc would get one star for showing up to work (participation trophy).

Dr. Nneka Azih is by far the best doctor I have ever seen. The entire experience at this emergency center was amazing. The nurses, the receptionist, etc, but Dr Azih was Super Amazing. The level of care she provided and her thoroughness was astronomically Wonderful. I wish she had her own practice. Every Patient needs a Dr. AZIH. ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENONAL. I was in so much pain, but just her warmth and energy of care made me feel better. She listened to my concern and sprung into action like wonder woman. To know that someone like her would go beyond the call of duty is so assuring. 100000 stars to Dr. Azih!

This facility was very clean and the staff were very helpful. I had a great Doctor Elizabeth Claiborne, and Nurse Ralphia. Lady Shakeya was also very nice and prompt. I will come back to them.

I don't know why people have rated them poorly. People tend to act out when they don't feel well and maybe people had other expectations. That's no reason to rate them poorly.

Brought my bestfriend on a Monday 12 am. There was no other patients in lobby, she was called inside 15 minutes after check in! Awesome. Security available. Front desk were nice and chill. Everybody was nice. It was probably the best time to go. My friend was seen by the doctor within 1 hr, blood draws, vitals were taken, CT scan done. Doctor determined my friend needed to be admitted so they arranged procare transport for her to PGH. It was a great experience for my friend and the whole process was overall good. She was transported around 4 am, and settled in PGH 5 am. Clean, organized, no clutter.

Today I needed to go to the ER after a visit to an urgent care in Laurel. From check in to triage, great service. From the doctor to the front desk staff, all friendly and informative. I must admit, after reading the reviews I considered another hospital. So glad I went to Bowie Health Center. Great job everyone. Especially great job radiology.

Great Experience highly satisfied they deserve more them 5 stars. God Bless Paul Brown (RN) who did a fantastic job. My wife and I took my daughter at 2:45am and the way my daughter was treated amazing. Highly Energetic and Motivated gentlemen with a great positive attitude. Thank You Paul Brown.

I don’t know how this place is low in stars but they got 5 from me! Let me tell you this is the 3rd place i’ve been to in 2 weeks. Dr.Lyons!!!! Is amazing. he listened to everything I said, ram tests. came back with a treatment plan that I feel will really work . I had already gained so much relief just in the room. Everything was fast, everyone was nice and attentive. !!!! If I’m ever sick again i’m

I would like to thank the caring doctors here specifically Dr Melville and Dr “Tom” who have been a God send. I am an a typical case that is highly complicated and I appreciate having top notch medical care close to home when I have medical issues. Very experienced and caring doctors. Thank you, sincerely!

The doctors are wonderful. You can tell that they actually care about their practice. They make you feel comfortable . I live in fort Washington, but travel all the way to this health center to be treated because the doctor at my local hospital can not compare to the doctors here.

First off, I didn't wait I was seen right away, the Doctor Melville was excellent. I have been seen by Dr. Melville every time I've been there and I love his bedside manors. Everyone was pleasant and helpful today.
