Very cool park. $7 at the self-serve pay box at either parking area. Steep, rocky trail takes you into the canyon. Take bug spray! and watch for marmots.

Wowza! What a beautiful place! Best done early in the day. Tough trail to the bottom, but worth it.

Small hike, not difficult but do be careful. Good views at the bottom, significant poppy smell.

Always a great hike, bring water and sunscreen and a bit of a scramble at the start of the hike. Partial shade the first part of the hike. There are porta potty at the start at the parking lot.

It's an absolutely gorgeous sight to see in Idaho. Powerful and purely clear waterfalls and stream.

Gorgeous spring fed crystal clear water with waterfall down the trail a little ways. Really enjoyed it here. Trail was a bit sketchy, but only because it was early Jan and there was still some ice and snow on the trail here and there...so that was on us going during those conditions, but I'd do it all over again!! Beautiful

This is the most beautiful trail! Highly recommend it. Bring good trail shoes or boots as it is not a flat walking surface.

What can I say, we love this hike. It is our favorite, especially when we do the out-and-back method. It has picturesque views, waterfalls, crystal clear spring water, and isn't too long of a hike. It is something that must be experienced. A true gem of Idaho that should be experienced at least once.

Beautiful place to go price is cheap only $7 for car. You do a hiking down the canyon but ist worth it, you can see the falls from near. Also you can swim once you get all the way to the bottom, the water is clean and clear.

A very nice canyon hike that led to a gorgeous waterfall. Trail was slippery, muddy and steep at the beginning, but there's a rope along this steep portion that you can hold on to so it was easier to go down to the river. We only went to the waterfall and came back but you can continue and come back around. People were saying it's less steep that way.

Just and up front FYI there is a 7 dollar fee to hike the canyon but it's not monitored. Me and my husband took our 13 month old and we had a wonderful time, its not that bad of a hike. You will be jumping rocks sometimes though so you'll probably need good balance. I would definitely go again. So beautiful.

What a fabulous hike! 99% of the people here simply hiked down to the water. It’s a pretty gnarly hike down (and back up again) - and is overgrown in areas. I CANNOT believe that some people hiked down with their young children and all their stuff.
We saw (from above the rim) a young family get lost with their baby.

It was more than worth it to hike the entire Box Canyon Trail. With this trail you got great views and the pretty water. Take lots of water and good shoes. No flip flops like some we saw.

We also read about ticks, poison ivy, and stinging nettles so watch out!

Box Canyon is such an amazing trail down the canyon a lil steep at times but definitely worth it! You arrive at the bottom and cool off in an ice cold h20 stream! My first time here and I'm definitely going to come back!

Wonderful hike. Beautiful canyon and a 20ft waterfall. In the winter sections of the trail can be really really muddy so wear good boots. The hike down into the canyon was a little sketchy as there was mud and ice when we went earlier in the day, but if you're an avid hiker like us it's not a problem at all. The trail does loop around if you don't want to hike back out through the canyon.
The only disappointment was how much trash I saw down there. Remember to pack in, pack out. My husband and I had a trash bag and tried to take more out than we brought. I reccomended others do the same and we clean the hike up to help keep it beautiful!

This was a gorgeous hike. The descent is tricky at times but rails have been set up to help and the views are worth it. While I do recommend taking kids, make sure they're wearing decent gear and have good balance and hiking experience. Several spots are great for water access but there's an especially nice shallow beach at the end of the canyon trail before it turns into an access road. Stop and swim or enjoy watching the fish from the shade! We recommend going back up the canyon the same way you go down to get to the water; it's slower and narrower but there's shade, water views, and green unlike the dirt, scrub, and gravel of the access road. Park fee is $7 unless you have an Idaho Parks Pass.

Beautiful waterfall and swimming areas down at the bottom of the gorge. Hiking down to the bottom was not bad, hiking back up was a little tough. Wear sturdy shoes.

A pretty sweet spot tucked away near Twin falls. A relaxing short hike will land you on one of the clearest springs I have seen around. The cool crystal clear waters are a must swim for anyone who is a fan. The hike to the spring is pretty interesting with some thick foliage and interesting waterfalls and river crossings. Short sweet and simple indeed !

Beautiful area! I'm a fat girl, and I made it up and down without any issues, so it's not hard. The water is like ice. Not really for small kids or pets.

Beautiful! Especially now with the new road that takes you to the canyon rim and expanded parking lot. If you make it to the end, the water is perfect, a constant 58 degrees!

August of 2020 I came back home to visit family. With this trip I wanted to visit certain places I hadn't been since I was a kid, but I also wanted to go for hikes at parks I'd never been to either. One day when visiting with my SIL and neice and nephew I told my SIL that I wanted to go for a hike and explore. She suggested Box Canyon State Park as it is a place she goes and it's a nice short distanced hike. Upon arrival I was just in awe. Water was super low but the thing I love about the southern part of Idaho, when visiting certain places it's just so quiet and peaceful. I defintely would like to go back when it's more full, curious to see the comparisons. I can't wait to go back and do more exploring in Idaho. I'm excited to see what all I've been missing. I implore you to do the same and take lots of pictures.
