I will start by saying "I F'n LOVE my Lieber Guitar". I purchased "The Garcia" in 2016 and very rarely pick up another guitar to play. The quality and craftsmanship is outstanding. The feel of the frets and the tone is heaven to play. Tom is truly a master of this art. He is committed to providing the best hand-made instruments. From the hand-cut mother of pearl inlays to all the gold and brass hardware and a finish that brings out the true beauty of the high quality wood he uses. I love the active electronics effects loop built into the guitar. It make all my effects sound their best without signal degradation.
It was worth every penny to me. I can't say enough good things about the man and his talent. PS. he's not a bad bass player either ;)

Tom is a world class builder and the Wolf that I received from him was far and away the finest instrument of the dozens I have owned over the years. It's a real pleasure to play an instrument built by the craftsman who actually helped create the original Tiger. Quite the legacy, which few if any other custom builder can claim today. But the legacy is matched by a commitment to the client. Tom was willing to get on the phone with me the same day to help with my setup and tweaking, and his responsiveness to service requests a year later was always professional and engaging. Can not recommend Tom highly enough.

I've had Tom custom build three guitars for me. Two Tiger styles and a Wolf, out of cocobolo no less. Couldn't be cooler. I wanted Midi PU's wired internally and he took care of it. Great guy, easy to deal with. Hopefully when I take care of some private finance and post Covid issues I'm going to have him build me the piece de resistance, a Garcia with Midi of course. These are not just incredibly crafted musical instruments, they are WORKS OF ART unto themselves

The guitar is every bit as amazing as it looks; the pickups ring like a bell, the electrics give enormously versatile tone options and the neck is a work of art, playing as fabulously as it looks!!
The whole process, from trying out, then ordering and following the build process, to making the trip to Fly Creek and seeing Tom at work as well as getting to share some time with Tom and Eileen was a truly excellent experience.
The guitar is both a work of art and a stunning instrument.

I ordered a Coco Wolf from Tom Lieber recently and have to say this guitar exceeded my every expectation. The craftsmanship is unparalleled. The woodwork and electronics are flawless. Having played in a Dead cover band for a number of years I was blown away by the variety of sounds and tones I could extract from the instrument. I have had several custom instruments and this one is hands down my main axe now. I use it for non Dead related music as well and am just as pleased to say it simply excels at everything. Tom was very easy to work with and we actually spoke on the phone for a good half hour when I decided to pull the trigger on purchasing the guitar. That conversation alone was worth a lot to me.

This is the first instrument I have purchased with out playing it first. It has far exceeded my expectations. The craftsmanship is some of the best work I’ve played in my 40+ year musical journey. The tones it produces are amazing, it has the richness and punch that can be heard though the two guitars without overpowering or “booming” you usually hear from the bass. We play a mixture of blues and rock from SRV and Jimi to BB King and Muddy Waters and it lends itself equally to both. I’m playing though an Ampeg B115A and I don’t have to max it out to be heard. It’s my go to bass and the balance and neck design is less fatiguing especially during a 4 hour session compared to my ‘57 P Bass thank you…. When you make a spellcaster with a black body and maple fretboard let me know

I recently purchased the Spellcaster Bass from Lieber Guitars and was lucky enough to meet Tom in the process. He was very helpful in explaining the different features on the bass, as well as why they were features. Like the reverse head stock to make the “E” sing out more. The variety of tones you can get from this bass are amazing. From Motownish, to tones that make you want to play a Stanley riff! The whammy is an added bonus! I keep forgetting it’s there. Which is probably a good thing most of the time! But it stays in tune very well even after dive bombing it. All in all, a very well put together bass.

The Stanley Clarke Spellcaster bass is an absolute beast of an instrument. This bass is right up my alley people. Let me tell you why-it’s built well, plays like a dream, has boat loads of tonal options, stays in tune perfectly even after wang bar abuse, is beautiful, very unique with an eye catching design. This thing sounds great clean or run through fx for total rock n roll madness ! I play in a power trio and this thing blew me away with how it cut through the mix ! I absolutely love unique and unusual basses. This baby will be joining the ranks along side my beloved 8 string Hamer ! It arrived in perfect playable condition in a very nice padded case. I run mine through my Trace Elliot 410 and 115 and believe me people, I get heads turning and ears exploding. I haven’t put this bass down since it arrived. I’ve been looking for and wanting a bass like this FOR YEARS. And now I have one. If you want to branch out your playing and try an instrument that is truly inspiring then you will not be disappointed with this beauty. Tom Lieber, the luthier who designed this bass along with Stanley Clarke, is a super nice guy with a great sense of humor. He answered all my questions before and during the building process. I can’t recommend this bass enough ! I am one happy bass player ! Thanks again, Tom !

I have the pleasure of now playing one of the 50th anniversary models of jerry Garcia's "wolf" guitar. This is an amazing piece of craftsmanship. I have enjoyed the diversity of sounds made available by the top end electronic components and the ease of play this guitar affords. Even the it is just hanging on my wall it is something of beauty to behold. I appreciate Tom's attention to detail and the care he takes in his craft.

I purchased the Spellcaster Bass and absolutely love it. The short scale neck is extremely comfortable to play. It has tone for days with the pick up configuration. Beautiful piece of art. I'm in the middle of recording an album and have used the Spellcaster Bass on the most recent track and will be using it again on more songs for this album. Highly recommend this purchase.

This is a very well made instrument. Short scale with a Stradocaster style body & a tremolo bar. You can create a number of different tones using the toggle switch between the three pick ups. Definitely something to have in your arsenal.

I love my Lieber Guitar so much I bought another one.

Tom is a great builder and was very helpful with my initial purchase, a Lieber Wolf, he was also gracious enough to add customizing features that really help.
These days all guitar builders are swamped so please be patient having Tom reply, he is worth the wait!
