This WAS a plain beef slider with cheese and a side of onion rings. SOOOOO GOOD.

It was my first time here and I’m a picky burger!! Wow! Really?!?! How have I missed this place!! Will return!!!

Exactly what a 100 year old dinner should be. Friendly people, good greesy, and enough random furniture to be a dinner

Though the lunch is great too, it is tough for me to get there at that time of day, so by default this is my favorite place for breakfast.

Big Spring Cafe is spacious and comfortable, and always exceptionally clean. The service is great. The people are always courteous and friendly. You can tell by their smiles and pleasant attitudes that they actually enjoy their jobs. Most of them have been there for a while too. It is very reassuring to see the same friendly faces every time you visit.

The food is down home good, and the menu is on the "country" side of things. It has all the classic stuff you are used to seeing, but there are also several delicious selections from back in the day that you probably just can't find anywhere else.

Big Spring Cafe is a throwback to a time when our town was a much smaller place, and everybody knew everybody else. This is the restaurant's 3rd location that I can remember, yet they have always managed to keep the "hometown vibe" that makes it a fun, unique and special place. Though the latest location on Governors Dive is completely modern in every sense of the word, it is definitely a historic, "Huntsville original" dining experience.

Check it out.

I wanted to eat here for a couple of reasons - one it is the oldest restaurant in Huntsville (est. 1922) and other reviewers raved about it. We were there on a Monday morning and had no wait to sit. A friendly and attentive waiter and delicious food. If you have time, it beats any hotel breakfast! Menu is as of July 18, 2022.

I wanted a quick burger for a good price, and I'm glad I came here! It's paid less than I would have at a fast food joint, and the food came out within 5 minutes of me walking in. My burger and onion rings were very good.. Just a basic, tasty burger. I just wish they had dessert too! The service was great and my drink was kept full. I'm glad I gave a local restaurant a try and I'll be coming back for sure!

First time in. Allen waited on us and was great! Very helpful and friendly. We had the following:
hamburger special, cheeseburger, onion rings, chili dog, grilled cheese and fries. The only thing we didn't love was the dog. Everything else was good. The sign says home of the greasy burger but we didn't think they were greasy, just tasty and well seasoned. Will stick to burgers in the future.

A coworker and I were driving up Governors Drive on the way to a job site. Passing by Big Spring Cafe he asked if I had ever been there and I said no. After finishing the job we had to do went and had lunch there. I had the double cheese burger and a side of onion rings. MUCH better than any fast food place. I will definitely be back. Burger was like something I would make at home. Nice hot onion rings! Go eat there!

I absolutely love this place. Imho, it had more charm as a "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant across the street and just east of where it is now but the sliders are still the best in town no matter where they cook them, so long as they keep cooking on that same grill.

I really loved this place, right on Governors Drive - the oldest restaurant in Huntsville beginning in 1922 been in the same family since 1943 and I met current family owner Pam

We so enjoyed our lunch at the cafe and super dooper affordable - #burger #fries and tea for under $8 😳 like seriously Wow!

So you can get the red slaw dog it’s kinda sweet and spicy ketchupy hotdog but I would probably recommend the chili dog cause we gotta sample and I loved the chili

Burgers are not super big but filling 😋

Onion rings were just perfect! Crispy fresh oil, crunched in my mouth and I wanted more

Looking forward to going again 🔜 Say hi to Skip our fantastic server with a smile she’s awesome

Stopped by for breakfast and was not disappointed! Lunch is served all day and breakfast until 10am. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. The chili French fries were good and my little on loved the pancakes.

I rarely leave reviews. It always seems breakfast is the toughest meal of the day to have an exceptional experience with. I walked in this morning to a packed restaurant with my youngest daughter really not expecting much.
This place is EGGCEPTIONAL!
Four different people checked in on us, the service was perfect, everyone smiling. They were crazy busy and were just doing a great job working as a team. Food was clean, hot and tasty.

This place was faster than any fast food place I've been to, and awesome service. If you're in a hurry and want to be treated well, this is the place!

"Home of the greasy Burger" Big Spring Cafe has that old fashion counter diner feel and atmosphere. A favorite with local Huntsvillians it's all about comfort food at very reasonable prices. The service is fast and friendly so what's not to like? The place fills up fast at lunch time so come early and bring your appetite.

Terrific service and some of the tastiest down home food I've ever consumed. And consumed it I did! My first time in but I'm count me as a regular! You've got to try a cheeseburger, fries, sweet tea...and wait for it.....a slawdog with their famous ketchup slaw! You haven't had a slaw dog until you've had their slawdog. Thank you Gavin for continuing the family tradition!

One of the best places to go in Huntsville. Best slaw dogs around.

As I walked into this Cafe, I couldn't help but notice the cozy old style 60s vibe. It was super cool and instantly took me back in time. The interior design was simple yet charming, and it felt like I was stepping into my grandma's house.

I ordered the burger and was blown away by how amazing it tasted. The flavors were on point, and I could tell that the ingredients were fresh. The bun was small, but it was made with so much love and care that it added to the overall experience. It was like having a burger made by your Nana.

I appreciated the fact that this place didn't try to be a fancy 5-star restaurant. Instead, it focused on what it did best - making delicious burgers that transported you to a different era.

The price was right, and I felt like I got my money's worth. I had a great meal that was fresh and not frozen for a year, unlike some other fast food chains. It was evident that the staff put their heart and soul into every dish, and it showed in the final product.

Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nostalgic dining experience with delicious food. It may not be the fanciest spot in town, but it definitely delivers on taste and ambiance.
