I love the alum hollow trail! The surrounding trails are also amazing but alum hollow is relatively easy with a very rewarding view at the end. The hardest part is right above the waterfall and cave/overhang. Its very steep and the trail has deteriorated there a bit. The trail head is usually pretty packed and it can be hard to find a spot at times. That shows how good it is. There's a very cool cave at the bottom of talus trail, but that trail is more work so be ready for it!

If you decide to do the Grotto trail, make sure on your way back when you see the tree that has the yellow, orange and blue ribbons that you look to the left and follow the blue ribbons. Do not continue down the creek following the pink ribbons as it will take you to the other side of the mountain. Other than our little sidetrack excursion, it is absolutely beautiful and Alum cave has nothing on the shelter that you see right before you get to the Grotto.

Huntsville has some of the best hiking around! I've enjoyed exploring monte sano, and Blevins Gap, is really nice as well, but this Alabama Land trust area is absolutely, hands down my favorite! I could spend hours and hours out here for days! Heck, I could pitch a tent somewhere in the middle of it and live! It is so serene and beautiful! After reading some of the reviews, I can see that I have missed some of the places some refer to, so that means I need to head out and trek it again and see what I've missed! shhh!! 🤫🤐, Don't tell anyone! It's this area's best kept secret!

Great trails, you can choose to stick to the easy flatter trails or venture down into the valley. There are multiple streams with picturesque waterfalls so don't forget your camera!!! We did a quick hike for our first time, but we plan on returning soon to try some of the more difficult trails. It's getting warm out so don't forget to hydrate and watch for snakes!!!

Alum Hollow was absolutely beautiful. I thought the trail went past the cave so it was a little more difficult than planned 😅 overall took me about two hours. Not a lot of people.

We hiked the Alum Hollow Trail at the Green Mountain Nature Preserve with our two dogs. It was a great trail and was pretty easy. We are glad we wore our hiking boots as the trail had some rocky terrain. The trail provided a beautiful view of the waterfall and had a few water streams to view on the hike as well. The trail was very clean and well maintained and marked. We hiked about 2.2 miles total on the there and back trip. This is definitely a great trail in the area.

Great trails, love that they're fixing it up more and more, been going here for 5 years or so now, always drop my spare change in the donation bucket.

Great trail. Had a really nice hike here. I took Alum Hollow Trailhead up to the waterfall and rock shelter, then Ranger Trail back. Alum Hollow was a mostly easy trail, Ranger trail was pretty tough, and rocky.

1/14/24 update, still a great nature preserve with awesome trails, great waterfall and roaring creeks when it has been raining.

New trail - careful, still getting worked on in sections - is beautiful way up into the mountain. Especially in spring with redbuds. It goes up, plateaus for a half mile maybe, then I stopped - appears to go up again. Does it come out on top? I don't know

Easy beginners hike to get the year started! Took a little over an hour for us. The end was a little challenging to get to the waterfall be it's totally worth it!! Definitely will be inviting my friends and their dog to come next time.

First time doing this hike and it was very enjoyable! The Alum Hollow Trail is fairly easy and very well marked, as well as shaded by trees. Pretty steep near the end down to the waterfall and unfortunately no water today, but still pretty!

Definitely worth the trip. This place is very kid friendly as far as the difficulty of the terrain. Some parts on the talus trail were a bit tough for the little ones but they do advise it as difficult. Had a fantastic time.

Took a Cub Scout den on the Alum Hollow Trail. It was a really great hike, with a great rock overhang at the end. The trail want too difficult except at the very end. I recommend it for families.

It was a great trail and there are many paths to take. I also meet plenty of nice people on the trail. The only thing is that on one of the trails I lost the trail markers and had to turn around and go to another trail.
