Overlook at the New River Gorge Restaurant

We visited on a Sunday night and had no trouble getting a table. Our waitress was extremely friendly and guided us through different menu options and her recommendations. The food was also delicious along with an amazing view! The view alone is worth the visit, but our party thoroughly enjoyed the hush puppies and all of our meals. We highly recommend everyone stop by this hidden gem and we hope to revisit!

Very very glad I stumbled across this place. Stopped in for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was kind and courteous and the food was perfectly prepared in perfectly sized lunch portions. And if the food wasn't enough, the view was insane!! Would love to go back at sunset. If you are in the area, stop in!

The view of the gorge out the windows was beautiful!! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was fast and delicious. I expected the pulled pork to be on a bun, but it didn't say sandwich, so that was my misunderstanding. It was still delicious. Our family had pulled pork, meatloaf, country fried pork tenderloin, and fettuccine alfredo. Everyone (even the kids) cleaned their plates.

We loved dinner at this beautifully scenic restaurant. Great food at a great price, you can't beat that view and the hospitality of the Superintendent; Joe, of the State Park, who took the time to meet us and invite us back for dinner. Made our trip more memorable and we will definitely eat here every time we stop by.

Beautiful view while you eat. The food was fantastic. Service was great! It did take a little bit longer to get our food, but we didn't mind as the view was perfect!

We ordered a vegan burger, and the server was very polite and nice in understanding our concern regarding vegan food and other dietary restrictions.

Great service, fair prices, friendly staff, good food and awesome views of the gorge. If you are staying at the lodge you get free hot breakfast including eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruits orange juice and the coffee was great. What a great way to start your day. The views fro the restaurant are nothing short of spectacular. Get a seat by the window. I highly recommend.

Small restaurant with an incredible views. Eli my server was a young man still in High School and working here as a summer job. Had the fish and chips, could use a few more hush puppies. Overall very pleasant and not to crowded.

Stopped at Hawk's Nest State Park recently and, for the first time, went to the Lodge. We decided to grab a bite at the Overlook restaurant and were pleasantly surprised with the food. The portions were good, the food was tasty and there was a good selection on the menu. The view was obviously superb during our meal and staff were fast, helpful and very nice. If you're visiting Hawk's Nest and have time for a bite, I'd definitely recommend it.

Excellent view and service. They made my dad a grilled cheese even tho it wasn't on the menu. The lasagna was fantastic. Muffins for breakfast with fresh blueberries! The burger was excellent also. I had the meatloaf also it was good!

We had an overwhelmingly positive experience stopping here for lunch. The atmosphere, service, food, cleanliness, price/value, and view were all perfection. Nobody should miss this gem when visiting the park or passing through. Don't miss the gift shop either!

Great views of the mountains and river while eating here. The breakfast is good (and free for guests of the lodge). Had the chef salad for dinner and it was also good and way more food than one can eat.

My Mother and I stopped in for lunch after taking the jet boat ride. We sat at a table by the window and enjoyed the view. Our server was pleasant and professional. Food was good. We would recommend!

This is a gem of a place! The food was great and the setting was superb! We went at the evening and found the sunsetting over the gorge, along with the birds flying their circles, was near magical.

Between being greeted and all of our questions being answered at the front desk (Samantha was the best) and the great dinner service (shout out to Olivia), everything was as near perfect as an experience can be.

The food was excellent. We shared cheese curds and loaded potato skins for appetizers. Had the Rachel and the Reuben. Onion rings were great! Highly recommend!

Lovely and relaxing lunch at the Hawks Nest restaurant. Service could have been faster but it gave us the time to rest and enjoy the scenery.

Breakfast came with the room. The "buffet" was recited to us by the waitress. Cooked to order and served at the table. She was available to answer questions, and the view was incredible.

This is one of the nicer restaurants in the area, it’s an important note that it seemed to be fully targeted at family dinners and dates, it was a very quiet restaurant. Sadly there was no outdoor seating. I really enjoyed my food and our waiter Corey was really cool!
