Many years ago I had my hearing tested at a UNC clinic in the main hospital in Chapel Hill, and the testing booth was not nearly as comfortable as the glass-walled one at the Sportsplex.
The audiologist is passionate about her work, up-to-date on the latest technologies, and very personable.
The hearing aids I purchased there exceed my expectations.

An excellent clinical office with caring, attentive, and thorough audiologists. My doctors appeared to possess impressive knowledge of the latest medical and scientific advances, but they always communicated with me in non-technical language about my hearing issues and the features of the hearing aid I eventually received. I appreciated their patience and evident concern to be sure my new equipment satisfied my needs. The Sportsplex location in Hillsborough has plenty of parking, easy access from NC 86, and offered an intimate office feel. I was completely satisfied with my experience.

I had been to Duke and the other UNC audiology center, and in both places I felt as though I were on an assembly line. My specific needs were not addressed, and I was sent for an additional appointment in which nothing new was done and my time (and theirs) was wasted. Here, with Dr. Johnson, I felt that my care was personalized with surveys (never got those before) and even a "lifestyle assessment" before a hearing device was prescribed. What a different experience! Thank you.

Very pleased with the fit and quality of my hearing aids. I didn't realize how correctable my hearing loss was. I'd tried hearing aids 15 years ago and they weren't worth it. Technology has come a long way. I had several options from basic to fancy and Dr. Patricia Johnson listened to me explain what my needs were and what I could afford and recommended a pair that fit the bill. Thank you for compassionate care and making my life a little better! Also parking is great at this location.

As the previous doctoral Extern at this site (now graduated and moved elsewhere), I can assure you that all patients here receive the highest level of hearing health care. Dr. Johnson is an expert at her job and an expert at listening to her patients so they reach their communication needs. I highly recommend the opportunity to work with this center and with such educated staff.

The Hillsborough office is staffed just a day or two a month. My appointments were months apart. You are charged $100 or more for each visit. It takes at least 3 visits before you will see a hearing aid (3 months). They do not stock hearing aids, so you will not have a choice to consider. After spending many thousands of dollars and not even seeing a hearing aid, I went to another provider (was shown a variety of hearing aids) and chose some excellent hearing aids within an hour. The bottom line is that they sell the same hearing aids as everyone else, but you will pay WAY more to get them from UNC and it will take WAY longer. If your time and money mean anything to you, go elsewhere.
