Thatchers Barbecue and Grill

This was our second choice in Summerville since our favorite pizza place was closed, and we were pleasantly surprised. Brisket sandwich was best outside of Texas. Southwestern chicken salad was great and 1/2 serving was plenty. The sweets potato tops were like candy.

Great small bbq joint. Food was excellent. Very flavorful. Staff/server was attentive and friendly. Prices are slightly above average but good food is worth it. Will go back anytime I'm in the area.

First time here, I moved to the area of the Alabama mountains . I had the pork platter with brisket , ribs and 3 combos A lot of food but I knew I'd have leftovers for the next day while I traveled to Nashville . Everything was great, the meats were moist , fall off the bone , nice sauces. The Fried okra, was great .. I can still taste and smell the unreal ... old school amazing cheese macaroni loaded up with cheeses, which I will always get as a side item and the tater tots too. Unique building , love the old school brick from 1900s , has a cozy atmosphere for a cold winters rainy afternoon. I will be back soon hopefully with a date if the good lords wants to bless me with this holiday season. Sauces hit the spot too . The Staff, waitresses are very attentive , friendly and they educate you on what you should try as a first time visitor future long time patron . I feel bad but I forgot the waitress name.

We are from Alabama bout an hour away was driving threw and decided to give it a try by far the best BBQ restaurant we've ate at and will be driving back just to eat here

I went there to get my pickup order and Thatchers did not disappoint. Friendly staff and prompt service. One of the ladies saw I had my hands full and she helped me get all the bags to the car. She went back in for my drinks when I wasn’t able to get them. If I could give a higher star review I would! She was a sweet person and everyone was awesome. Worth the wait and the 14 minute drive. Brisket is excellent and the fried tomatoes are to die for! If you’re in the area then this is the bbq place to go to!

I had ordered the chicky wrap. I thought the tater tots came on the side, but not in the wrap! It was definitely delicious and a cute little spot to eat. The staff was friendly as well.

We are fans of Thatcher's BBQ who love the Ringgold location, but we are now residents of Trion and love this Summerville location.
Love the Porky Bucket! This is tender, yummy pork barbecue over tater tots and love it with the sour cream, bacon strips and cheese sauce! We also got fried green tomatoes with that wonderful white BBQ sauce, fried okra and onion rings. All were fried to perfection, flavorful, and delicious! We are very happy with our order and I recommend this place to all y'all barbecue lovers! You might want to pick up some of their spicy bbq sauce, too. I love it because it doesn't burn my mouth but is just-right-spicy and full of flavor!
I should add, this was on Thursday. Maggie had to go to Ft. Oglethorpe so ordered from Summerville online at 320 pm and it was ready by the time she arrived at 4:15. They're always so nice, too! She says the parking lot can be a bit hard to get out of but today she was able to turn around without backing onto the highway. Maggie says it's accessible so I wish I'd felt like going in. Maybe next time!
Nov 2023:Maggie, my daughter, picked Thatcher's for her birthday dinner [her birthday's tomorrow]. So we ordered enough food for a small army! We'll be eating off this feast for days [and may have to put part of it in the deep freeze]. This was not just a small order!

Maggie called in all of it just before leaving at about 12:45 pm. They said it would be ready in 15-25 minutes. Barbecue always takes longer than other kinds of food, so Maggie prepared for a long wait. Well, she got there and they were just adding the cole slaw in the bag! All of it was ready in 14 minutes! Wow! I was shocked when she called me so soon from the parking lot ready to head home! So, fast service! Maggie forgot to take pictures for me, but she said everyone was super polite. They have just hired some new folks to try to be faster. But, I don't expect barbecue to be fast, 'cause it's made to order. I expect it to be delicious!

We were delighted! My Porky Wrap had melted cheddar and cheddar jack cheese over tater tots with succulent, juicy barbecue in a tortilla. Our order had lots of extra barbecue sauce, so I dipped it because I always want extra. We didn't have to ask, it was in the bag! Oh, that barbecue is so tender it melts in the mouth, juicy, and flavorful and oh, so, yummy! The sauce is just right in the spicy department. Thatcher's, you do it right!

I also had a fried tomato that was crunchy and delightful. Just right, golden brown, and the texture of the tomato was spot on. And, the slaw! I'm not a fan of horseradish, or the horseradish taste from some cabbages. This slaw was very finely shredded, which brought the taste of the cabbage out in a delightful way! Nice, sweet slaw, just the way I love it! And, since I'm 65 and had to have some teeth pulled, the way this slaw is shredded makes it much easier to eat than other slaws I've had this year. But the flavor of Thatcher's slaw is unmatched, in my book.

We also got dessert, and I will add to this review or add another when I'm not too full. Thatcher's Summerville has the same high quality we loved in Ringgold, the people who helped us with the order were just as polite and friendly, and my daughter felt welcomed, even though she was just picking up an order to-go. This will be a very happy birthday for my daughter and I to celebrate, and Thatcher's, you just made it better! Wonderful service, great tasting food, and we'll definitely come back! This place has a wonderful atmosphere. The staff go above and beyond. And the food is phenomenal! The portions are huge. And the price isn't high at all. At a year later, it's still amazing. Still the go to BBQ place. 7-19-23, still amazing.

I like thatchers a lot I ended up picking up a few orders from there to deliver to customers because I'm a door dash driver and the food smelled great so I decided to try it and I have to say I think it's really clean food is great I definitely recommend the salads there so delicious!!! And I personally recommend you to to request autumn she's a wonderful server great smile and verry friendly she usually works behind the counter where the kitchen is located

We enjoyed this place a lot. Both dinners we got were delicious. I had the pulled chicken it was great. The slaw potatoes salad and baked beans went so well with it also. It was all around good. I will be going back here for sure. The service was great. We walked right in and were seated. It was good all around.

Great food! Great service! They are always nice and courteous, making sure you have everything you need. I've never eaten here and had a bad experience.

Very nice atmosphere and décor. Service was friendly. Fried green tomatoes were good, their ranch dressing was great (for those ranch aficionados). Pulled pork was very good-- flavorful, not dry at all. But the brisket, that was the BEST I've had in my life! Excellent experience.

Visited the local Renasaince Festival and a local recommended this establishment.... it is wonderful. Great atmosphere. Great food with new and unique twists to the common bar-b-que... a Willie Wonka journey into southern staples. WILL return

A local friend recommended this place and I was so glad we went. Great proportions, delicious food, and GREAT service!! Loved the salad with the chopped pork and homemade ranch! Go try this place out! You won’t be disappointed.

My son took me here while visiting him for Christmas. I was shocked at how good the BBQ was here! I've had BBQ at many many places in my lifetime but this was by far the best BBQ I've ever eaten. I got the Cowboy pulled pork spud. It was huge and awesome! I could only eat half and took the rest home for lunch the next day. Next time I visit I will definitely be back!! Highly recommend!!
