This state property should be more publicly accessable. We biked out to the old pond and cought a bass. A access toad has been improved since my last visit.

This is a beautiful park! Take Bryant Drive all the way to the park, drop off, go park somewhere and bike or walk back. The property owners bordering the park have put up bogus signs saying “Private Road”. The State has an easement through the road which is accessible to the public. They are intentionally preventing the public from using what rightfully belongs to everyone. If someone tells you otherwise, tell them to go jump in a lake.

I'm giving this place a 5 star just because I love the privacy and it's really nice especially when you get to the river. Beware of the lady in the last house on the left. If she says anything to you just ignore her and give her the finger. She think's she owns the STATE park. Next time she follows me and my dogs into the park she is getting the cops called on her, I suggest everyone else to do the same.

Very remote. Stay on state park land and study a map before going. No camping!

This park is a hidden gem in the midst of Albany, and a beautiful example of ecosystem protection/restoration. Many reviews here are correct in saying the park is difficult to access and underdeveloped, meaning you shouldn't visit expecting to find well developed trails and amenities.
Bowers Rock is first and foremost a floodplain restoration project, and aims to protect the area's natural hydrology and ecosystem which is threatened by human activity. It's difficult to access and underdeveloped by design, since the intention is to reduce human activity in the area. In light of this, I wouldn't expect much development of the park moving forward - although parking is being negotiated, and will hopefully be installed sometime in 2021.
It's still a great place to relax - I used to come here in college to decompress, read, sketch, etc. Very quiet and peaceful, especially during the summer.
As a side note: do be aware that the neighbors are not excited about the park or park visitors. I've been harassed by them before, and even had dogs sent after my friends and I - although this was a few years ago. Hopefully they've relaxed a bit.
4 stars because, while the park is hard to access and all that, it's still lovely to visit, and I appreciate the state taking initiative to protect Oregon's ecosystems. I'm happy that my taxes go towards these kinds of projects, unlike many others here...
