This place is amazing! The selection is huge and the quality of products is out of this world! Very clean place, friendly staff, and reasonable prices! I love the baby kielbasa that they sell! Every time I visit NY, I make it a point to stop in and get my favorite products! I recommend this place to everyone I know 10/10!

Walked in, friendly, quick and efficient service. Very willing to please a customer with the special requests I had that day. A great experience! Definitely out of my way, but I always go back to Fred’s because of the superior quality of the meats, poultry and other products you can find within this butcher shop!

Great Italian mix sub. Hinge on the roll, good construction. Lots of quality meat. Would have been double meat amount at most places. Price good as well. 10 dollars and change for a 12 inch. Also got a double meat roast beef on rye. Asked for off menu smoked Gouda cheese and they didn't even bat an eye, just made it happen. Two very different sandwiches on two separate visits both excellent.

Be prepared to take a number and wait when it comes to the deli counter, because they run a brisk business and don't wait around if you wander away (which I think is only right). It can be a little much for people with anxiety, so just be prepared.

Their arancini are really tasty, and their seafood cakes are delicious.

Great shop! The butcher counter has tons of options and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. I didn’t see what I wanted so I asked when they were going to have it, and the guy went into the back and made it for me. They have a big case of pre-cut and pre-packaged meat if you don’t want to wait in line. All of their own food, spices and jerky are great!

Went to this place due to a gift card I received, and I am so in love! This store is awesome. Prices are reasonable for the cuts of meat you get. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back, gift card, or no gift card!

I have lived in the area for many years and this weekend was my first time coming in here. My mind is blown. How have I gone this long without Fred the butcher in my life!?! I love how there’s like a mini grocery store in here. That Def will come in handy at some point on my way home from work! We got chicken breasts from the meat counter and they cooked perfectly and came out so tender and flavorful. I was so impressed w my first experience I just had to come back the next day and order sandwiches to go. they were so good—very fresh ingredients and really good deli meat!!! I love that there is an indoor/outdoor seating area too. Im looking forward to enjoying some delicious sandwiches outside on their flower covered patio this summer. We Also ordered small containers of Mac, potato and chicken salad. All were absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try more stuff!!! This is now my new favorite spot!

Love these guys! Half the time I strike up some niche conversation about cooking meat with the butchers and they're always so pleasant and helpful.
Their premade food is bomb, their marinades are great. My only complaint is that the avocados are expensive but I get why.
I don't get my meat from anywhere else!

Fred the Butcher has been my go to place for great subs for lunch. Even after I stopped working in a nearby office, I go back often.

But moreso, there's a full deli and meat counter here along with a good selection of produce and other groceries for making dinner awesome.

Really, just the best custom butcher around. Always ready to advise customers, always innovating. Since I wrote original review, there's an aged near department, and very nice fresh seafood, lots of other good stuff.

Huge shout out to Fred's in Clifton Park. Got an A5 kagoshima wagyu and a specially ordered olive fed wagyu steak. This was obviously a pricey buy, but if youre looking to dish out for a nice experience for a special event, this is IT. Two thin to medium steaks of this type was enough for 3 people. These are very rich steaks so you dont need the amount that you would usually do for normal steak. We cooked each one at a time with some online instructions and ate them as the last 2 courses of a 5 course meal (kabobs, shrimp, wedge salad with freds bacon and blu cheese). Dont get these steaks expecting to fill up on them. it's best to eat the steaks without sides, but as a lone entree in a multi course meal. This will ensure that you get the full flavors of the meat. This was a 5 star taste experience though, the a5 snd the olive fed were both unbelievable and it was a great way to do fathers day with my dad.

Great food & friendly staff (not something you see much of these days)! The gentleman at the meat counter are always very helpful and patient with me, as I frantically last minute try to decide what I need/want. I look forward to my FTB day every week now!

We got a 15 lb prime rib for Christmas Eve from here. What a difference from getting one at Fred the butcher vs a grocery store. This piece of meat was amazing and just perfect . Worth every cent.

This place is worth a trip. Primarily it's a butcher and seafood shop, but also has great fresh produce and assorted specialty items (e.g., Italian products, mustards, etc.) Would note they often have really great asparagus deeply out of season.

But again primarily it is a real butcher shop and the reason for your trip. They carry USDA prime and wagyu beef, heritage Berkshire pork, poultry, and have a full deli. They will also special order anything you want and will custom cut things for you. When comparing like products it's also about the same cost as a regular grocery store.

For example, I wanted to make a rotisserie porchetta - a pork belly wrapped around a pork loin with citrus garlic and rosemary between the loin and the belly (loin is lean so it helps to inject the loin with some fat and chicken stock). Fred the Butcher, who have sharper knives than I have and are better at it than I am, prepared the roast for me. A grocery store won't do that.

But if all you want is a couple of New York strips it's still worth a trip.

When I go shopping I refuse to get my meats from ANYWHERE! But Freddy's.. so shopping day consists of going to Fred the butcher.. no store whatsoever compares to this establishment.. delicious FRESH meat's surgically clean place.. any other stores wish they could compare...

The best meats, salads, and deli period. The rolls are great too. Multiple bakery selections.

Quality meats and deli. Best butcher in the capital region.

A little pricey but wealth it, the food is delicious and homemade and the employees are friendly.
